I use upholstery foam for my cosplays. You can buy it at most fabric stores in various sizes. It's quite expensive though, so be prepared to pay a fair ammount

As for fabric, you can use just about anything depending on what you need for look/texture-wise. For my worgen i was able to use a fur-like fabric, and for guilmon i used a stretch sports fabric (i forget now exactly what it was sorry. I can go to the store and get the name of it if you really want to know). I try to find something that is thick enough to hide the glue (from the glue gun that holds it in place), and also something with a bit of stretch so it's easier to form over the foam, but not too stretchy.

I'm not that rich...im trying to save money to buy things at the otakuthon....and not spend it all for my cosplay


but my mom said that stretchy fabric is bad....maybe because it's gonna be to heavy for the wing like thingys i will have....

well is there any other fabric you use?


also there is 3 fabric store...in the city im in.....which are 2 of them in 2 far away part of the city and the closest one is downtown in MiniPrix...

If you want to use cheaper foam, you can use the cheap cushion foam that you can buy from any walmart. The disadvantage to that is it won't hold shape was well as upholstery foam.

depends on what kind of stretch fabric you use. I don't know what your project is, but really you can use any fabric you want. My preference is to have something with some sort of stretch to it as it's easier to fit on to the foam. Getting something with no stretch makes it difficult to get a smooth look of the fabric when glued onto the foam. The only reason i can see your mom saying stretchy fabric is bad is because it can be a bit of an annoyance when it comes to sewing, but that just take practice

i took a few sewing classes over the years and yes stretchy fabric is annoying as hell xD

well I'm planning on cosplaying as Darkrai....and since i don't want it to end lamd and really undetailed like most of them...sorry if rudeness....im trying to make it look more darkrai like than gijinka or neglect with no much details

it's gonna have the growth but it won't look like a necklace xD the ghost thingy on its shoulders and of course the tail which looks like people forgetting it when they cosplay as darkrai :/


it's a lot but maybe it will be so worth it in the end ~

oh yeah i saw you at the otauthon but there was to many people hovering around you and taking pictures.....i couldn't get a close up

OUAAAA you are on DA!!! yours costume is so AWESOME!!! it's the first time of my life that I see a REAL Guilmon in my face! I don't remember this digimon, but when I see your costume I was OMFG THAT IS A DIGIMON!!! SO REALISTIC!!! We MUST have to take a picture of you!!!

My mother doesn't really like costume, but when I show you she was reallly suprise and ahe said that it is very beautiful!

Thanks! I put a lot of effort into making everything as accurate as i possibly can without making it horribly uncomfortable for me to wear for a weekend, so I'm glad the results turned out well

And tell your mom thanks as well Costumes aren't really a bad thing, it's just a really different way of doing art!

Aside from next weekend at Fanexpo, I'm not really sure what else I'll wear him for, but I`ll definitely be around I don't foresee having to retire him anytime soon since i build him to last

I have being working bits by bits. Halfway with the head and done with the jacket thing of Paildramon made it with Vinyl but then I got busy with moving, commissions and other conventions so I am trying to finish it for Fan Expo.
