The reason why I asked is that this woodpecker is a 'lazarus species', it means a species that is rediscovered alive after being considered extinct for some time. I thought maybe u were the lucky one to see it!

Yes, but the "sightings" have not been proven, so I'm afraid our ivory friend remains a myth until someone sees one with a camera or a net. I remain skeptical.
