I love low bass string, I don't know why, but it gives me the chills. But of course, it becomes rather lonely and monotonous unless there is a higher octave (like C3 or higher) melody being played. Now which song's basso continuo are you talking about, cuz don't they both have one? I'll have to relisten.

low bass strings give me chills too! i love the use of double bass esp. in jazz when they pluck it, it's an awesome sound.

yea if it's just by itself then it's just kinda like a drone. but if you use it like in jaws it's really freaky and builds a great mood XD

I'm not sure. If as in "elitist" you mean, "person who thinks differently than other people and kinda knows it", then yes I am a elitist Thats my definition of a good elitist. I guess that the term gets a bad rep. I try my best to not act like an elitist. It doesn't always work though.

Haha. I'm currently actually learning how to play ACTUAL songs with ACTUAL notes. I generally only play with chords. I'm learning "I Can Show You the World", "Pretty Women" from Sweeney Todd and "Simple and Clean-Piano" from Kingdom Hearts. I'm pretty terrible. My hands are huge so you'd think I'd have some kind of advantage, especially with my lanky fingers, but nope... I suck. lol
