when you say "Canon 350D" you do mean the digital rebel right? Im not too familiar yet with all Canons but so far i seem to think the 350 digital rebel is an awesome camera for the price. This is the only "350" right?

hi dear 350d lovers... i got a question for everybody who could read this. i wanted to buy a zoom lenses.. in the mid-range... i was browsing the canon catalog and i felt in love with this one:
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
anyone knows a better one? maybe another brand? they are really expensive and i want to hear some real experience-based comments
gracias, merci, gratzie, thankyou, arigato!

Its this or the 24-70. These are the two best Canon make in the mid range zoom at present. You can pick the 24-105 up for about $1200US from Calumet, BH and Adorama. The 24-70 is faster, but is heaver and slightly pricer.
I have used the far cheaper ($450US) 28-135 in the past. It is terrible (for a pro at least). Soft corners and constant distortion. It will do the job fine for most consumers, but if you can afford it, the L series ones will be much better and hold their value if you sell them in the future. The 24-105 and 24070 are not just lenses afterall, their investments.

thank you very much for your comment... this kind of things are really useful when somebody like me is trying to save every dollar for a lenses i'll try to get one of those (the 24-70 is a 2.8 and about 100 expensive, but if i'll do an investment like that, i think that 100 dollars extra for jumping from 4.0 to 2.8)
again..thank you so much, and sorry for my delay on this response

24-70 is a well regarded lens, but is very heavy and lacks Image stabilisation. The 24-105 (what I use) is very good, has IS but is an f/4.
I personally think the is and more useful. It makes a better walk arund lens too.
If you plan to shoot in dark areas where you need to capture movement, then the f2.8 is best. But for landscapes and general use, the f/4 is lighter and has IS which is a god send at night and in the earlyhours when photographing hand held.
Take a look at these sites for very good reviews and sample shots as well as detailed testing of geometry and resolution of the 24-70 and 24-105.
