Dear ~7451 ,
To let you know how awesome you are, an anonymous friend has THROWN A ROCK at you.
Have a nice day!
- ~ThrowRock

ThrowRock note: Your music is very addicting to listen to. The melodies are really catchy, and the rhythm is always great!

You're too hard on yourself about your art. I started writing poetry when I was 13 (I'm 28 now) and never wrote anything good until four years ago. (Thank god I didn't realize how bad I was.) Anyway, you AREN'T bad. Perseverance. I love music as well, and drawing, but when I've tried to compose a song in FL or draw a picture, it is never exactly what I'd hoped. That is the curse of the beginner. What will make you great is patience with yourself. Someone once told me that to get to the good art you want to create, you have to get the bad out first. (And there will always be more where that came from.) For every poet with 30 famous poems, there are another 1030 that ended up in the trash.

Thanks a bunch for the kind words. Like everything, I suppose it'll all become second nature in a while. But I'm just one of those people who always have ideas a few hundred steps above their own ability.

Still, your comment means a lot to me. I don't think I'm too hard on myself - I'd never ever want to write anything bad without first realizing I was doing so!

Then your take on things is actually refreshing to me, if you feel that you aren't so good but press on -- if I'd thought my writing was bad, I would have given up long ago, only to never get to the point I'm at now. Poetry is my life; I'd be lost without it.

Keep shooting far above your abilities and then it's just a matter of getting there. But "argue for your limitations, and they're yours." -- Richard Bach, Illusions

I hate you, but I had to favourite 'a pyro is free'. All these TF2 favourites make me look like something of an obsessive, though.

In answer to your question, you know where I find them. And that's the only place I've seen them.

Yo dawg, I heard you like regurgitated 4chan memes in a place they serve no purpose, so I put an awesome smiley in your deviantart to you can regurgitate while you regurgitate them.

I suppose I can't really say anything other on the matter or I will risk sounding like a hypocrite, but It annoys me a lot on places like DA when I hear people say things like 'LOL X Dee that smiley is so funny where did u get it lol'. Because it's from 4chan. Who borrowed it from Something. And they don't like you, and you won't like them.

I'm grumpy today. It's the summer influx of newfreinds most likely. Also, I got temp-banned for porn link spam because I posted a link to a download of Diablo 2 LOD. Life is so cruel sometimes.

SO HOW ARE YOU

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spineyguy In reply to 7451 [2009-06-10 19:45:30 +0000 UTC]

How can 4chan memes be applied in a place where they serve no purpose, when they serve no purpose on 4chan either? You can't even hope to apply logic to the internet. DA borrowed it from 4chan, who borrowed it from someone else, who borrowed it from someone else. It's a never ending list of plagerism and imitation. I'm surprised you've only just realised this.

Now you've made me grumpy, I need to go and vent my anger on TF2.

You should have tested the link prior to posting it.

I'M FINE, HOW ARE YOU? HOW ARE THE EXAMS GOING?!

7451 In reply to Spineyguy [2009-06-13 21:29:22 +0000 UTC]

I will have to tell you some stories about our invigilators. Because you know how they forgot about extra time on the first maths? IT GETS MUCH, MUCH WORSE.

Think of it this way - sure you have a nasty 2.5 exam, but for that you get an extra qualification, no? Because I don't, and I don't.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spineyguy In reply to 7451 [2009-06-14 06:48:41 +0000 UTC]

I think I could surprise you with some INvigilator horror stories.

I also don't give a crap about sadistics! it's a pointless qualification that no employer wants, Mr Tomson (teh maths teacher) said himself that even if you get the sadistics GCSE, it's unlikely to earn you any bonus points. Besides I'm a Mathematician, once you start factoring things like 'ersonal opinion' into it it starts getting messed up, humans have that effect on numbers.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

7451 In reply to Spineyguy [2009-06-14 13:06:31 +0000 UTC]

True, but if it comes down to it, an employer may very well pick you over someone with the exact same qualifications and grades apart from sadistics. For a 2.5hr exam, I don't think that's half bad.

Then again, I'm the kind of person who actually REVISED his R.E exam. It was only 15 minutes, sure, BUT I FELT DIRTY.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spineyguy In reply to 7451 [2009-06-14 14:59:23 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's the same with sadistics, it's all really easy but to a mathematician everything about it feels wrong. you have to allow for human error, people lying, trends within peergroups.

OH GOD, the minute you involve humans with maths it becomes complicated and illogical.

More expenses scandal? The world economy on the brink of collapse, Iran, Russia, North Korea and America all pointing nukes at each other, and the expenses scandal is the best example you can find to display 'mankind's essential illness'?

Spineyguy In reply to 7451 [2009-06-16 15:51:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Isn't greed to root of all the world's problems?

War : a fight overresources because one leader is greedy and the other has a rubbish army and lots of oil.

Economy on the brink of collapse : Bankers got greedy and decided it would be a good idea to hand out 70 year mortgages to unskilled, unemployed teenagers with a whole bunch of expensive kids.

Iran : President Ahmadinejad (almost certainly spelt wrong) is greedy for power so decides to threaten America with nukes and rig his own elections.

North Korea : Same problem.

Russia : Same problem again.

America : Bush was a dickhead.

Nuff said.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

7451 In reply to Spineyguy [2009-06-17 16:16:15 +0000 UTC]

Nah. Greed is celebrities and bankers. But politicians and governments? They strike me as more along the lines of a lust for control.

I feel sad that the crazy 'death to English' guy won. That said, there are probably a lot of Iranians that are quite happy about it. But even the most benevolent dictator can grow ruthless over time. People with a lot of money? Sure, they're all idiots, and don't deserve it (and I DO) but I have feelings more of general annoyance than hate towards them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spineyguy In reply to 7451 [2009-06-17 18:54:56 +0000 UTC]

Iran's president clearly rigged his electis, there's no way in a country full of young, upstanding pro-democracy, liberal paople that a disonsaur with racist, facist ideals would win an election by 68%.

People with a lot of money : Not every rich person is a ruthless dictator of a boss with foreign workers kept in shackles and sky high prices. There is the odd one that actually deserves it, some businessmen make money because they offer a good service that people are willing to pay money for. There are those that make money by kissing arse and mistreating people, yes. But there are also those that do it honestly. Don't assume the worst of rich people, they're not all bastards.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

7451 In reply to Spineyguy [2009-06-18 19:40:51 +0000 UTC]

The younger generation are very liberal over there, yes, but honestly I'm not all that surprised at the outcome.

We westerners often have the quite arrogant notion that we are, in a sense, the 'good guys'. We're really not. The British empire was once the most ruthless in the world, and America is an obnoxious, resource-hogging waste of space. The Irish aren't our biggest fans, and neither are the French. The guy in China who works every day in a sweatshop for little or no pay probably hates us rich, materialistic westerners and the greedy corporations who own our souls as well.

There are a lot of times I'd rather be Finnish, Swedish or Japanese to be honest. Hell, I could even stand to be Austrian.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spineyguy In reply to 7451 [2009-06-18 20:52:24 +0000 UTC]

I wasn't all that surprised either, the 'death to America' holocaust-denyer has been in power far too long to give up without a fight, regardless of how badly he loses elections.

I really only think that Americans see themselves as the Hollywood action heroes, we spent 30 years after the war saying sorry to the Germans, not the act of a country that thinks itself above the rest of the world. The only people the Irish hate more than Brits are other Irish people, they're a very bitter population. The French hate everyone. We as a nation cannot realistically do anything about China. And the Netherlands and all those other Nordic countries have sky-high suicide rates, the chances are that if you lived in one of those countries you would have killed yourself by now.

And Japanese people use hacks.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

7451 In reply to Spineyguy [2009-06-19 18:51:24 +0000 UTC]

Bah! That's because people flock to those countries for assisted suicides and the like. I'd rather that than live in a country in which I may one day be forced to live against my will. In my eyes, the right to death is just as valuable as the right to life.

I think every country has mutual hate for America, but when you consider, for example, how severely we fucked up Germany's economy you can see how Hitler ended up getting elected. Which in turn led to much bloodshed, destruction, the cold war blah blah blah. Every country that bears a grudge against us has earned it. Except maybe the French.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spineyguy In reply to 7451 [2009-06-19 19:32:31 +0000 UTC]

You could never be forced to live in this country, as long as we're part of the european union. You can go and live in France and be given scornefull looks on the street should you so wish.

To me, the right to death is perhaps more important, if I end up laying about in a hospital bed being fed through a tube because it's "policy" that the hospital doesn't turn off life support EVER for ANYONE, I hope some anonymous stranger comes and shoots me.

Lets not forget that all Germany's problems were not our fault, the Germans as a people crave order and enforcement, something they weren't getting under the Weimar. Hitler's rise to power was down to the economic crisis, which was partially down to Britain's involvement in the war. But it was also down to the critical flaw in German society, a flaw that still exists to this very day, the need to have a rigid stucture and strong leadership. Mercifully they've got one now in Angela Myrtle, but should they ever get a weak one again, we'de be looking at a similar situation to that of 1929. In short, the reason most of Europe hate the British is because we were quite good at running things a century ago That's why the French hate us, that's why the Italians hate us, that's why the Germans hate us and it's why the Polish love us.

1.

Go to the start menu and click run. Type 'dxdiag' and press enter. The DirectX Diagnostic Tool should appear.

2. Wait for any system checks to be run, and go to the tab labeled 'display'. Under 'device' it should tell you the make and model. I suspect yours is an Nvidia Geforce FX 5200, but you want to make sure.

3. Once you know, go to the manufacturer's download page. Nvidia's is [link] and ATI's is [link]

4. Fill out the form, download the installer, run it and it should install the driver.

I'm a little curious as to why Portal and TF2 didn't need you to update your drivers, but there you go.

On an unrelated note, I'm learning spy. I'm actually pretty decent now, although you do have to suicide a lot.

You always do badly if the situation doesn't call for a spy. But say... you're on 2fort, their whole team is engies, with a few medics and heavies... and they have a base in your base...

If you're just on dusbowl or something then spy is fairly useless, unless you can co-ordinate your saps with the rest of your team.
