Thanks buddy!! Post a comment or review on the SWSCA site, if you could. It would be greatly appreciated and would help me keep that lesson on people's minds.
A bigger studio is definitely a good thing. Although eventually, even that starts to feel too small.

Sure thing Alfred! I'd happily watch another lesson if ya did one. Maybe one on Sexy Super Heroines.
Right now, any space would be nice. I am getting very frustrated having no workspace! Β so even a small well lit studio would be nice.
Could I ask you something else? say that character was wearing high heeled shoes or boots; how would you attack that with the armature?
I have tried every bend I can think of and still have problems. Could you perhaps do a demo some time please? It's driving me nuts!!

If the character is externally supported, like the I did was, then just take the armature to the ankles and don't worry about an armature in the feet. If you want it free standing, then you need to use very rigid metal. I would use all thread. Heat it before you bend it. Run the bottom through the board and secure it underneath with a couple nuts. Run the top all the way to the hip, then use some epoxy putty and switch to aluminum wire for the rest.
You could also rough out the high heals in epoxy, then drill down a bit and start your armature from there. You could also add a square key (made if brass square stock) and key that into a work base. That way you could take the figure down any time you need to.
Good luck, Tim. Hope some of that made sense.

Thanks for the description Alfred. I'll try make sense ofΒ some of this.
Be cool to see you do it in some future project though; I am a gestalt learner and do better by example.Β Maybe a future U Tube tutorial?
all the best! -- tim

Really quite incredible what you do! I always loved super creepy pumpkins too - you know, the ones that are seriously scary and not just cute-scary Only right thing for Halloween! You're really good at that ^^Β
I do wonder: Are you an animator or do you just do sculptures? They look like Β they might be used to animation too, some of those grey ones. Dare I ask where you took your education (if you did at all)?Β

Thank you kindly. I'm not an animator. I'm a sculptor and character designer. I was formally trained at the Laguna College of Art and Design (many, many years ago). Since then, I've continued learning by taking workshops, watching videos, reading books, and of course... Working my ass off. I've had the pleasure of being part of the Villafane Studios team each Halloween, and I get to travel the country carving pumpkins at different events.
