"Y-yeah..." I mutter back, still quite taken back from everything setting in. All this just couldn't possibly be real, and yet it was played out just so perfectly with the villagers going about their lives, the detailed and weathered buildings, and even rather unpleasant smells as one passes by with a bucket of bodily wastes to dispose of. Making our way deeper into the village, the houses are noticably older and we spot one seeming quite large with a wooden sign hanging down above the door.
(Should the new world have it's own new language too, or should we not torment our new selves quite so much? XD )

I quickly walk up to the sign, reading it. More of me taking charge when it wasn't really needed. Its still charming in a way!

"Well, it's the inn alright.  Let's go see if they can be of any help for some 'visitors' as ourselves."  I offer, as we open the door and head inside.  The main room of the inn appears to be an open area with several tables people are drinking and eating at, with a counter in the back staffed by a rather well-fed dwarven lady.

She glanced up and over to us from her task, and raises an eyebrow at seeing such foreigners in these parts. "Sure I've got a room for ya. Eighty copper a night, plus any damages I might find in the morn." She snorts back with a slight chuckle, setting down some mugs she had been wiping out and coming over to our side of the counter and. She slams down a room key though she doesn't take her hand off of it, awaiting payment first.

I dig into my purse, pulling out the amount requested and putting it down. "Sounds kind of like a steep price to me..." I mutter.

Still, she takes the money and leaves the key on the counter for us as you can see it has the number 2 carved into it.  "Very well, have a g'night." She adds before returning to her bar work.
I watch in mild surprise as you pull out the coin needed for the room.  "Wow, where'd you get local currency so fast?" I ask aside, rather amazed and quickly checking my pockets for anything I might have arrived with.

Sure enough, there's some small coins in there, ranging between a few different types of material. Mostly bronze and silver, with a few gold pieces intermixed. "Let's go up towards this room, we need to have a place we can assess what's going on..." I say. However, I don't seem to wait for your reply and simply start walking off towards the room.

I nod, glancing over my shoulder as the tavern regulars are eyeing us newcomers. "Yeah, I'm kinda liking that idea. Not to mention some privacy would be rather nice after all that's changed." I add as I follow you off down the hall to the rooms. Continuing down the hall a little ways, we come across the one matching our key number to reveal a modest two bed room with simple straw mattresses and a water basin for washing.

I sit on the bed. I sigh looking at how short my legs are. The don't even come close to touching the ground. It's easy to tell it gets to me.

I hop up onto my bed as well, fidgeting around a bit as I try to get my tails into a comfortable spot for sleeping. "Welp, I guess this is our life now. Unless we come across a heap of gold it's going to be cheap inns and straw beds for a while."

"I know, this is a whole lot to adjust to at once but we don't really have a choice. I guess it may be best to get some rest for now, and then set out early tomorrow." I suggest, curling up on my side so my tails can hang out. "Hopefully we can find a map of where we are exactly, and then either pick out where we need to travel or find some work. Since this seems like a usual fantasy world, we'll probably need to get our hands on some armor or weapons for personal defense just to be safe." I start sounding a bit sleepy as I ramble on about plans. It seems I might get used to this bed after all.

I grumble a bit before looking over to you. "Technically I suppose not, but we can't just lounge around here forever, and it probably isn't safe in the evening it after dark. So for our sakes daylight really will be burning." I argue with you, not to cozy with my body either but wanting to try and get on top of things.

I try finding a comfortable position to sleep in. I wind up having to take off the cloak covering my clothes. With a slight gasp, I quickly take off the sheathed dagger on my hip. "I uh... didn't notice that."

I look over from my bed, seeing you take off the small dagger and drop it on the side table with your cloak.  "Well, at least one of us had some weapons for defense.  I got nothing, at least until I can figure out this magic stuff."  I say while inspecting my unfamiliar furry hands and arms, and just feeling them to get used to my new body.

"Hey, for more lowly thieves just waving the thing around should be good enough to scare them off."  I reassure you with a confident grin, before turning over in bed.  I briefly try laying on my back, before letting out a small yelp at feeling all my tails being squished back there.  I quickly roll back on my side, whimpering a bit before going back to see if I can play with my magic a little.

It takes focus, but you do manage to make some sparks fly. Without knowing any proper spells doing much else may prove difficult.

"Hehe, sweet!"  I chuckle eagerly as a few sparks and a glowing light comes forth between my paws.  My eyes glow with excitement and a bit of mischief at seeing my newly gained powers.  "Only able to spray out unrefined magic right now, but just doing this much is incredible!"

We seem unbothered and sound asleep until sunlight glares in through the window at dawn, and one it two roosters across the village announce the time to wake.

I reluctantly stir and roll about in bed, for a moment thinking this was all just some long dream until meeting with the white fluff and tails marking my new form. I sit up with a yawn and look over to see how you slept.

I'm still fast asleep it seems, my long scaly tail flopped over the side of the bed. With how short I am, my legs hardly come close to reaching the foot of the bed. I could probably lie on the bed vertically and still have plenty of room.

Yeah, it's a bit disappointing that there's no food out front, so I try going over to the tavern instead.  There shouldn't be any rules in this time about bars closing or opening at certain times, so hopefully they're serving food at this time of morning.  If not... maybe there's a farmer's stand out and about where we could buy some apples or something.

There are a few customers milling about, some of them eating. The man at the front table is a portly, older human. He seems somewhat sleepy.

I try to approach the man in charge at the front, hoping he'll be able to serve me.  I slide up next to him at the table with a grin.  "Eyy pal.  You guys serving breakfast here?  I'd love to get some grub."  I tell him trying to sound awfully friendly.

(I mean, gold is a common RPG currency, despite its rarity on Earth. Explanation wise, gold could be far more abundant in this world than on Earth, thus worth less. Of course, it could also just be written off as "RPG logic" seeing as how we are in an RPG.)

He takes them, looking them over before accepting the payment. He barks some orders at who you assume are cooks in the back.
