Kay, is there anywhere I can see this online? I doubt I'll be able to make it to any conventions you're selling it at.
You wouldn't be interested in reading my comic, perchance?

It's on my deviantart account, though they aren't drawn yet, but I've written two of the chapters in my "Bullet Rangers" folder in my gallery.

Thanks! I do occasionally, but I often forget it exists! I decided to go the online route with my comic in the end. You can see it here: www.adventuresofzip.co.uk
Sorry to say I haven't read P.A.W yet! I've meant to, but I put it on my shelf with a bunch of other comics I meant to read (I do this a lot when the unread comics start stockpiling too much to just leave them on my bedside table), and I up and lost it. It's probably still on the shelf somewhere. It's just a matter of figuring out where. I'm thinking I'll probably book a table at BCE soon though. If you're going again, I might see you there?

Not to worry, life gets in the way of reading flimsy bits of paper sometimes, no big
For what it's worth, that issue of P.A.W is now up online, and in glorious techno-colours too
I think the plan is to do bristol again and a couple of other shows - It'd be nice to have another issue ready to show but I think that may be pushing things a bit seeing as I've only just finished thumbnailing the next issue

Hey dude, I did manage to find PAW in the end. It was just tucked away between a load of graphic novels. Not bad, and that's coming from a guy who was always more of a cat person. If I see you around at a convention again, I'll finally pick up the next issue and find out what happens.

Uh what? Yes I did! I was one of the first people in line at about 8:30 on Saturday. I even got interviewed by a few student filmmakers that were going round asking questions.

Oh! Well I wonder if you saw me then, I was helping out at the STC online tables for much of the day, did a few sketches here and there
Did you have fun? Get to play on Lost world?

AnAngryMike In reply to ll [2013-08-10 01:21:13 +0000 UTC]
I was sat at the front row for the the first art class of the day, but when things started to go wrong I decided not to come along for the next one because it seemed like it was mostly tutorials for software programs, and I already have a pretty good handle on that. I did get an autograph from Nigel Kitching though. STC's one of my biggest influences ever.
And yeah, I did play Lost World, the Casino Level. It was nice to see the return of Crawl badniks, since it's annoying how in some of the more recent games all the old badniks have been scrapped. I mean obviously the series has to move forward but I feel that some of the old enemies should be kept around as trademarks to the series. I felt like Lost World might end up being a bit linear considering how it's all based around a tube level design, and it seems like if you want to get up any decent amount of speed you have to keep going straight because leaning to the side seems to slow you down no matter what. It could be just that I haven't got used to the new engine though, so I'd need to play it more to really know. Did you play it?

Ah yes, he got it sorted out eventually you'll be pleased to know - I hope it proved useful for some of the younger visitors! STC is unsurprisingly a huge part of my creative development but I'm still far too starstruck to go and chat to the Nigels - I mean what the hell would I even say to them? :S
I didn't have time to queue up for the demo/beta but i'm certainly interested to see what the new play mechanic means - if it means an end to randomly falling off the side of a level I'm prepared to put up with a slowdown of speed! The comparisons to Mario Galaxy are of course to be expected, but they do seem to be trying to bring back familiar enemies and the animal critters as a way of "branding" the game universe a bit better, which is interesting. For me the big thing will be what effect making it nintendo exclusive will make it - will it be the Wii-U's much needed killer app?

Awesome! Mine too! So how were you involved with STC then? Do you do any work for STC-O?
Don't get me wrong, I liked it, I just felt it was a step back from the Sonic Unleashed/Colors/Generations style of play. Especially since I felt like they'd really honed it down and fixed a lot of the problems with Generations (I can't comment on Colors since I don't have nearly enough of the means to own more than one current gen console at once). I do have to be pretty picky with this one though, since getting Sonic Lost World means having to buy an entirely new console, and that's a big financial commitment considering I'm really only interested in the one game on that system so far. I have to be a lot more picky these days since money is getting tighter and tighter. I'm certain that I'll get the game eventually, but worst case scenario, it'll be when the generation after the Wii U generation comes out, and the price has gone way down. At the moment, I'm thinking I'll just do as much research as it as I can, reviews, any demos I can get my hands on (in shops and whatnot), word of mouth, everything I can do to see if its worth it. I'll probably just end up waiting for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 come out and the price of the Wii U drops.

Aye, I'm somthing of a behind the scenes fellow at STCO these days, but occasionally they let me loose on the lettering or writing little bits of text here and there for the site, so its nice to sit down at a convention and proudly sing its praises (and as my teamates will attest, I will talk the hind legs off a donkey if you get me warmed up on a pet subject like STC!)
I hope the exclusivity thing doesn't prove to be their undoing - as things stand at the moment I think Nintendo need Sonic more than Sonic needs Nintendo but I may be wrong. I've not played colours either, I'm hoping that the mechanics of the new game mean no more falling off the edge of the level randomly, though it looks like they are still inventing reason to keep you on the right path - I certainly enjoyed generations 2d levels more than the short go I had on SOnic 4, so I hope that progress is made too

Oh cool, so you may have seen me around the STC-O forum then? I recorded an episode of podcast about STC that was about an hour and a half long about six months ago, so yeah, me too.
You might be right, but I've heard that Sega haven't been doing too well financially lately, I think they could use a break also. When it comes to Nintendo though, they've pretty much been the reigning champ of video games since video games "really" got started. They essentially made video games lucrative single handedly with their quality control system (the licensing chip and the seal), Nintendo Power, and all their clever marketing. They're a force to be reckoned with and they've proven that time and time again. People forget that. I reckon we have to wait till the next generation comes out to really know.

That's true actually, Sonic is Sega's main money spinner, which is why the gamble to put all their blue eggs in one basket seems strange. Certainly things will become clearer in the years to come!
Has your podcast been released yet?

ah say hi and thanks to Carla would love to help out! am in my final year at uni right now, and have deadlines coming up in April/May, so have to prioritise my projects till then, but i can do some little bits and bobs if you like, see if you like my way of drawing Is the comic just for fun or do you have a deadline for it?

AnAngryMike In reply to Monaku [2011-03-09 03:45:41 +0000 UTC]
It started out as something that I wanted to just do as a bit of fun. A bunch of ideas me and a dude called Robbie Maggs came up with a few years ago whilst we were blacking up just about every day of the week. Now it's just me, since Rob never really had the motivation in him to keep it up.
I've got some friends in a comic shop in Bristol (where I live) and I'm hoping to get copies distributed there first and then expand. I'll probably lose money from it but I'm not doing it for the money really. I HOPE it'll be successful enough to have official merch and whatnot made for it. And any profit made from it I'd happily split.

That's okay, I figure it might encourage me to put up more art if I actively engage in the community a bit more. I have a huge backlog of pieces that I could put up, I just don't always remember to get around to it.
And thanks for taking a look around my galley, that would be really nice. My ID wasn't taken by me though, it was taken by a friend.
