ur art is pretty and u have some pretty horses.

i'm gonna do a pony pegacorn breeding project and plan to focus on cream/champagnes. pearl was gonna be there but it felt redundant since those colors didn't look significantly different from champagne. dun, silver and flaxen will come in later. i'm doing wild horses this time instead of the training thing. it's gonna be my personal therapy project to help with stress.

and i saw you have deer characters ;o;~ i want to make some non-horse characters and i want some kinda deer or antelope and some kinda wild sheep, like those ram things that run around on mountains

Thank you! I'm very excited to see what you end up making, and after all, one should make things that make them happy. This whole thing is kind of stress management for me too
Yeah, they're my Fawnlings! The group has a set up for OC characters which can basically exist in any world you want to make with very few parameters while using the groups genetics and general design concept. And do you mean like bighorn sheep? Or mountain goats?

i want to have other animals besides ponies later but i want to finish this little 8-part backstory before branching off into other stuff. but me & riku did go ahead and do a written RP with the deer characters we want to use and i'm planning on putting them in the background of the pony pictures, maybe a couple pics of them by themselves even if most of the story isn't posted on dA. anyway i thought of you with the deer thing. i think he's going to be the one to decide what the species looks like and is called and what the antlers look like and stuff.

I love a good story, and anytime one of the accounts does a story line I try to follow it as best I can! I love seeing what people come up with, I mean creativity in the world is just boundless and I love seeing the creations, even if they never have an established "end point"

how do you think the frequency of the posts is going? is it easy to keep up with? i know when people fall behind it's a pile of spam in the inbox but i was hoping the very short texts on the pics would be quick to read through in a hurry...?

It works very well for me, since I can only check my DA once every couple of days usually, so then there's usually one up by then, or even if its a couple I really don't mind because it gives me a few pieces of the story to get through, but I think it's working well for me.

for the "count up words for ur character's level" thing mine are leveling super slow but i like having only a couple lines for people to read in a rush. i noticed for myself when i come across people doing the "post a picture then story is in the description" thing i like them better when it's just a couple of lines.

it's not that i mind reading a big huge thing if it draws me in but that's so hard to do even when u study writing and try to do it on purpose, and most people aren't studying or trying to be good writers they're just kinda making up whatever, or worse they're just typing a lot for the word count in their rpgs and that's the only purpose of it. they end up with a lot of boring back and forth "hi how are you" nothing dialogue and boring characters and nothing really "happens" in the story because they have to wait for the show results or whatever from the group/competition and so many people never think to add a story of their own. there's usually too much "oh i wonder if we will win?" and that's all there is to it. they never dare to put any stakes, like "if we don't win this competition, we'll lose the ranch!" and if u actually don't win then actually do it! have them be forced to sell and then either save them with a new plot development or just go with it, they have to move in with a friend for a while or something, but they continue showing because now they want to buy the place back. or well ok maybe not that dramatic but...

i think the problem with a lot of ppl is they are interested in horses not ppl so they don't want ppl-oriented storylines but they are afraid to have a hrose-driven storyline cuz they don't want it to talk like a cartoon character and well if it can't talk or be human-ish what can u do with it? and it's sad because it shows they "love horses" but see them as basically just cars or bicycles, something fun to ride but they must be under ur control and when u focus so much on controlling a horse i guess u forget they have wills of their own and u just cant think of a story because u've forgotten the animal has a heart and exists for more than just following ur commands...

or maybe ppl wanna be in the rpgs but just don't have much imagination lol

anyway with so much bluh around i think everybody gets gunshy about reading big stuff cuz it's very likely to waste ur time so i wanted to keep mine short. now i'm having a problem how am i gonna do meaningful conversations but keep it to only a few lines? i guess it'll just have to be one of those "try to write something powerful in just a few words" kinda challenges. it would be great if i could pull that off but it's probably beyond my skill

I think that the short format works well for your story line. This is also why I enjoy doing my Fawnlings stuff. They have that equine feel, but they can"communicate" between each other, and the relationships can be so fun to work with. The herd dynamics are so fun to work with. But yeah, I've found it necessary to do more human POV stuff for my HARPG stable stories.

i like to have mine as realistic to their species as i can but to be honest u really can't do very interesting stories that way most of the time. everything has to be survival-based pretty much or "find a mate and breed". i originally turned to animal characters for my therapy project BECAUSE they don't have the silly conflicts with each other that humans have and i wanted to sort of escape from that but after writing them a while i realized the story is more interesting if they do have those conflicts. in a story conflicts are good but irl i get really sick of them. for a therapy project well of course u avoid the stuff that upsets you but since i'm now able to say that i wanna write in a conflict to make it more interesting, i think that means the therapy part is working and i have gotten better thru doing this. i'm not wanting to go hide far far away anymore. like, maybe facing conflicts irl is still not something i can do yet but i think being able to say that i'm ready to face them in a fictional setting is good and means i've made progress

Yeah, that makes sense to me. Pettier conflicts can make a story feel almost too familiar and mundane and sometimes all we want from our art is to make something that takes our mind off of our real lives.
