ah crap. not sure if you tried this, but I always shoot two exposures to deal with flare - one with the flare, then one with my hand blocking the light to remove the flare. sometimes i even shoot a few with my hand coming from different sides to make sure i have a clean shot from all points.

haha, small world. me too. went to college in nyc and lived in san fran after. just got back. land of entrapment ya know! i'm in abq. we will have to start shooting together. share our spots haha.
