Just saying, but I read your absolute beginners guide to mecha and i thought it would be great if you could (maybe?) write another in-depth tutorial about other mecha types, or weapons to equip them with.

The first one was really helpful, but there were a few things that you brushed over. Anyway, just asking.

CrossMirage In reply to Epiphany99 [2011-12-07 00:47:35 +0000 UTC]

I can't write anything that's really helpful on that, it's too broad a topic (and one I don't have much knowledge about at that), but what I can do is point you in the right direction. The best way to tackle it is to look at what's already out there, not just mecha-wise, but take a look at weapons people use as well. Form naturally follows function.

I think liars pretty much ask to be judged

You are defending a fraud. I do not see why I should feel sorry for anyone.

Okay! Let me tell you what's wrong since you wished for honest feedback:

I think you are all right at photography. Some fast-moving subjects could use better cropping or framing, but I suppose you already know that.

[link] This one has virtually no effort put into it. Compositionally and aesthetically, it does not make sense; am I supposed to focus on the yellow? Why are the lines so wobbly? Why is there an uncolored white spot?

The skull prop: Rudimentary editing with the smudge tool is lazy, I am not sure what you are doing with that.

Anything else?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wildfeather87 In reply to CrossMirage [2010-10-04 07:37:11 +0000 UTC]

LMFAO, For one that "Virtually no effort" ABSTRACT thing i did, it is abstract, it had no vocal point to it and it is not suposed to make sense, It is abstract. Such as those that have have a ear above an eye and what not. It was fun to do and it took a while to do it. All the colors are meant to be there.

The skull was not done by the Smudge tool thank you, It had more effort then that the smudge tool blurrs while it smudges. The only time I used smudge was the nose, the rest was actually used by a liquidfy tool that pulls the art down and makes it have that depth look to it.

The action shots, your correct, however, if it was cropped anymore it would be blurry, and that is how I took the shot, I enhanced the coloring a little bit that was about it.

What's your opinion on the snowmobiling and the house, and the rest. I'm dieing to know what you think I can do better on.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CrossMirage In reply to wildfeather87 [2010-10-04 07:46:49 +0000 UTC]

Then you do not understand what abstraction is at all. It's people like you who make light of the efforts of all abstract styles in the history of art. Abstraction is reducing a solid idea into the simplest of symbols. Do you think Picasso's Guernica is an effortless mess of meaningless symbols too?

I rather like the snowmobiling and the house photos, but the snowmobile could benefit from some more adjustments to push out the best assets of it.

I cannot photograph a snowmobile or a house in the woods because there are no such things where I am. I will say with utmost confidence that I am above you in understanding, in execution, and experience.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wildfeather87 In reply to CrossMirage [2010-10-04 07:51:36 +0000 UTC]

It is an abstract in dimensions. Not people and not anything else. It is simply small points taken differently.
That is abstract in my head. All abstract stem from the same, it's lines and angles and colors some face stuff in it and what not, but it is all about dimensions and what not.
The symbols were not meaninglyess and it was not an effortless mess. It took me quite some time to get that the way I wanted. I have more on there if you feel like you want to try to diss more of that stuff. I love getting opinions on my stuff weather it is good or bad.

The house was at a beach I found it interesting because I always love old buildings that are fading into nature. The snowmobil I was standing in snow up to my waste and my ex fiance wasn't willing to retake it more then once, that is the best i could do with the gear I had and the fact that I was sinking rather fast.

Why can you not take photos of that? You maybe older then I. But you do not see the world as I do, my point to, each artist is different. Each has there own style. Weather it's taking a drawing and redoing it to there eye, or taking a photograph and redoing it to there eye! IT is all different.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CrossMirage In reply to wildfeather87 [2010-10-04 08:07:02 +0000 UTC]

Your rationale is questionable at worst, shaky at most. That is not how abstraction works. "What not" does not suffice.

For the photos you can do some minor touch-ups like color adjustments on a photo editing software.

Again, I do not have the opportunity to take pictures of snowmobiles or houses in the woods because I am in a tropical climate. I do not have the finances to travel to where they exist, either.

No one is arguing that every artist is different. Copyright infringement is the issue here, NOT style and execution.

Here, maybe this will fill you in on the subject of copyright infringement better. [link]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wildfeather87 In reply to CrossMirage [2010-10-04 08:11:21 +0000 UTC]

Okay I get that copying stuff, however; that is copying almost down to the T and calling it another name and selling it. That is totally different.
You can argue it all you want I still have my opinion on the matter

I did what I could with the photos that were year old and that my software could do, the camera was old and cruddy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CrossMirage In reply to wildfeather87 [2010-10-04 08:56:06 +0000 UTC]

A crime is a crime, whether or not the 'thief' profits off the work; a child making a draw-over of a piece of art that is not theirs is a criminal by definition. but in almost all cases no one takes issue with that because it is simply not worth their resources to fuss over. This however does not make it ok to make unauthorized copies. Disney is especially strict about this.

That is fine, if you feel that you have done your best given the circumstances.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wildfeather87 In reply to CrossMirage [2010-10-04 18:26:51 +0000 UTC]

She had a oppertunity to work with Disney by the way! She decided to take the road less traveld and be wtih my father and have us!

My mother is a great artist.

And from now on she'll use my photography.
