Thanks for creating such an awesome style! Your work is fantastic! And thanks for replying!Β
By any chance, have you ever done a drawing of Robin? Just out of curiosity. It'd be great to see that character in your style.Β

Just a random deviant popping by to say hi~
I just wanted to say I love your icon (Tim?) and that I've always liked the name Aidan (if that's your real name, haha).

DanielNadia In reply to DoktorKat [2013-06-05 19:47:34 +0000 UTC]
Hi, random deviant!
Thanks, it's Tim. Todd Nauck drew it, he's on DA.
I will neither confirm or deny whether or not that's my real name. However, thanks for liking my name that may or may not be the one my parents gave me.

Ooooh thanks! It's always fun to find professional artists on DA! I have a small collection of them in my Watch list, and now there's one more!
Hahaha, understandable! I'll pretend I didn't see anything.
Is Tim your favorite Robin?

DanielNadia In reply to DoktorKat [2013-06-05 22:37:05 +0000 UTC]
Glad I could refer you to him, he does great work.
Thanks, I try to remain "anonymous" about myself on websites like this.
Well... I like things about every Robin. Tim was the first Robin I was exposed to, and I definitely have a certain "kinship" with that character, especially since there are so many awesome takes on him.
However, I like Grayson just about equally, if not more. As a kid, I tended to want to become more the acrobatic wise-cracking genius who flipped off of rooftops than the street kid who was a smart aleck (the Tim in The New Batman Adventures). Then again, that particular Tim was a lot like Jason Todd, who I really like too, and I also like Damian Wayne, and Carrie Kelly, Stephanie Brown, and the various other incarnations of Robin.
I can't pick a favorite Robin, but I will say Robin is my favorite character in all of fiction.
Sorry I couldn't more directly answer your question, but it's kind of a hard thing for me to answer.

DoktorKat In reply to DanielNadia [2013-06-06 01:46:43 +0000 UTC]
Ahh, I see! I understand what you mean--and I appreciate you giving me a detailed answer, even if it was difficult! I was just asking because I was curious and I wanted to talk since you seemed like a neat person--but do tell me if I get too pushy or if you get uncomfortable and would rather not talk.
All of the Robins are pretty fantastic, but my favorite is probably Jason. And even then, he's just baaarely my most favorite, with the other Robins following pretty closely. It's fascinating how despite 'Robin' being a title/name/what-have-you being passed on from character to character, they're all so individual and yet have so many similar traits that tie them together!
I don't mean to lessen it in any way by calling it a franchise, but a more appropriate word escapes me at the moment. Anyway, the Batman franchise probably holds some of my favorite stories of all time. The world(s) that have been created thanks to the collaboration of dozens of artists and writers is truly mindboggling! Were you a fan of the Nolan movies, by chance?

DanielNadia In reply to DoktorKat [2013-06-06 10:26:06 +0000 UTC]
Thanks for thinking I'm a "neat" person, it seems like you're pretty cool, too. If that ever happens, I'll be sure to let you know, but I doubt it will.
Wow, Jason usually gets a bad rep. I always thought he was cool though. And I absolutely agree with your closing statement
The Batman Franchise holds some of my all time favorite stories, too. However, I'm also a huge Spider-Man, X-men, Teen Titans (pretty much for its tie ins with the whole Batman world, though, so those have some great ones too. However, Batman has had some of the most well written, illustrated, and overall best-told stories of all time.
The Nolan movies were very good, and I liked each for its own distinctive characteristics. Batman's voice was a little much, though, and while Christian Bale was great, he didn't strike me as the "perfect" Batman, not like Christopher Reeves as Superman or Downey Jr. as Iron Man. The Nolan take on the joker was a perfect synthesis, but, as is the problem when you bring in a huge villain in such a movie, the hero tends to be a little overshadowed. Begins was cool for exploring Batman's training. And, of course, I loved the little nod at the end of "Rises" to John Blake's first name. Joseph Gordon-Levitt would have been a PERFECT Nightwing.

Thank you! But haha that's nice of you! I try not to be too overbearing but I get really excited sometimes and then people get overwhelmed and just stop responding to me altogether--that makes me sad!
I completely understand where all the Jason-hate comes from, but I find he's one of the easier ones to sympathize with, and I enjoy how he's so *different* compared to the other Robins. And several issues ago in Red Hood and the Outlaws, I enjoyed the heartwarming scenes where he and Damian spoke and got to know each other better. He has a depth to him that I think a lot of people aren't seeing or aren't willing to see. Anyway! I promise I didn't message you initially in order to self-advertise, but now that Jason's come up, it reminds me that I've made a music video dedicated to him. Would I be able to share it with you?
While I've seen many of the Marvel movies that have come out lately, I try to stay far away from Marvel due to personal reasons that aren't worth disclosing at this point in time haha. It's nothing that's like 'DC IS BETTER' or anything, but I do hope to get into Marvel at some point in time. I've always liked Spider-Man and the X-men, but haven't really done much other than watch their movies. Was there are particular storyline from either of those in comicverse that you'd recommend?
What's sad about Bale's voice to me is that I didn't notice at all until people pointed it out to me, so now it bothers me. If only I hadn't come to the realization that it was a little much, haha. I'm very fond of several aspects of the Nolan movies, but I particularly love Cillian Murphy as Scarecrow... and in DKR I enjoyed that "trial" sort of thing that he headed. I wonder, if they actually do do a Justice League movie, if they would recast for Batman. And if they did, I wonder who they would pick? I agree with you though about Ledger's Joker. He was clearly the star of the movie, and although it did overshadow Batman, I feel it's often that way in the comics--and Joker wouldn't have it any other way, anyway! About Gordon-Levitt, have you seen this? [link]

I'll try not to make you sad.
He's definitely interesting.
Sure, share away.
I just like the Stan Lee/Steve Ditko/ John Romita early Spider-Man stuff, and the Chris Claremont/Dave Cockrum/John Byrne X-Men run.
Sorry people brought an unpleasant point up to you. Yeah, his Joker was awesome.
I've seen it, too bad it's only a well photo-shopped image.
