Thanks; I think the stories and the snarky comments help a lot in making the photos more than just "here's a bunch of cosplayers".

Tiny Bro is the best Bro. What you should do is get a group together to do an AU where the Guardians are the kids and the kids are the Guardians. That'd be awesome.

I understand the hassle lol. I'm driving from Saskatoon SK(Canada FTW) so it's a 72 hour drive there and back.

That is one hell of a drive. Reminds me of a friend of mine who visits California cons by driving from Colorado; it's kinda nuts.
Sweet! I want pictures, because that could be spectacular. I like cosplaying Homestuck AUs, because it lets people be creative and makes sure that gatherings aren't just huge blobs of identical trolls; it's a lot cooler when everyone stands out.

That is a long drive as well haha.
And I agree, I like to add a little twist to all my Cosplays. It makes life a bit more interesting. But it's also really risky Some crazy fans will flip out if you have anything different about your cosplay. I have seen it way too many times.

I haven't seen that so much in the Homestuck fandom; we're generally really tolerant of AUs and variants and whatnot. Admittedly, I only know the people in California; things might be different in other areas. Hopefully you don't run into any jerks; they should be easy to ignore if you do, though.

I'm really not sure yet. If I'm in California, I'll make an effort to go; I really can't plan that far ahead right now. I don't know what costume I'd do either; fandoms can change quickly, and it's entirely possible my interest will be captivated by something else by that point. I'm looking more in the short term now, wondering if I'll go to any of the July/August cons that are coming up.

Aye, that'd be problematic. I can understand where she's coming from, though; it's a lot of time, money, and stress to get to a con, and they can be a bit risky (a couple of Homestuckers at Fanime had stuff stolen from them, and we had to deal with a couple of creeps at Kintoki-Con). I hope you can work out a good compromise!

Nah, it was pretty average, methinks; I've seen some pretty spectacular Johns in the last two cons. Turntables are cool; I've seen some good ideas for making them from Styrofoam and hanging them from one's hands with fishing line. Of course, a year is a long time in comic-time; remember that there may be some other costume along the way that makes you go, "O.O I MUST DO THIS NOW." Of course, others will have the same idea, so retro costumes can still help you stand out. Uh... I guess keep doin' what you're doin' and everything should turn out okay? I think I lost my point somewhere in there...

Yeah, I didn't know there was even an official Homestuck gathering thread until I got there. Kintoki-Con saw a fusion of the clump of Homestuckers that met at Fanime and the clump that know each other from Wondercon, Deceptikon, and earlier, which is why it was so HUGE. Thankfully, it was a lot more manageable than the huge blob of people that were at Fanime.

Mmm, Fanime was fun, but I enjoyed Kintoki-Con just as much if not a bit more for being more manageable. Herding Homestuckers is like herding angry kittens, and when there are two hundred of them gathered in the same place, things get a tad nuts.
