if you are serious, contact me. I have 30 years professional experience and charge professional rates, however. I do not work for free and if this is a project on spec I would pass, but best of luck!

This would have worked our fine if you hadn't gone and passed away.

I would love to tell you that I am ready and fully funded to do a project like this, however I am still in the starting phase of bringing my company online, and our first project is underway. I do not have the time or resources to fund a second project right this moment, but the idea of a series of online graphic novels is really something I want to do. So how about if you give me your contact details and a rough estimate of what it would cost for pages, panels, and cover art. I will tuck it away and keep it in mind for when the first project is ready to transition from development to maintenance, and we look at what our second project will be. I can use your estimate to put together a plan and present it to the board. Then we can see what happens. Sound fair?

I like your work. Do you do any original designs?

overseer In reply to Deltigar [2012-08-03 14:19:47 +0000 UTC]

By original you mean some random, own sci-fi design of some kind? I have done some random abstract renders a few years ago, but I lost interest in that sort of thing. I think I've found my style and the important thing to me is that I have fun with what I do. Whatever falls into that category.

The reason I ask is because I am putting together a new game. I need ship designs that do not look like anyone else's ships. It would be amazing to have a ship style like that of Star Trek that is so unique that the basic design is recognizable despite the wide variety of ships. The one running theme I see in most SF ship designs is the assumption that artificial gravity is easy and everywhere. What if it was not? I have also devised the game mechanics around two types of engines. Manuvering engines, or thrusters for changing orbits while in normal space. These would be easily visible. The other type are the Jump Drives, which allow a ship that has manuvered to a jump point to rip open a bubble shaped opening in the fabric of spacetime and create a wormhole to another jump point. These engines are large, positioned center of mass, and require larger ships to be more spherical. In addition, very large jump engines can create artifical gravity, but it is not directional, and pulls to the center of the spherical ship.

Well, I'm not a modeler. I've never had any interest in that sort of thing. I just enjoy creating images. So, in an analogy, I'm a painter, but I don't make my own brushes. While your idea sounds interesting, I wouldn't be able to help you in that regard. Art is merely a hobby of mine, something I do for recreation, nothing more.
