you're welcome :3
oh! last question. how do you know how to shade in a manga? like...I can't explain my question. I also have a hard time with background such as buildings and trees. Any tips you can give me there?

KuraiDraws In reply to DemonFox889 [2014-08-02 07:27:51 +0000 UTC]
that's a difficult to answer question. almost EVERY manga artist/manga I've read does it differently, some people use more ink and hatching to indicate tone and shape, whereas others focus more on grey tones, and others use gradients.
I made a resource reference of the most common ways I've seen it done, and I intend on continuing the series when i can I hope they help

oh my god. Dude!.. That's...Incredible! Best of Luck! Seriously!
(QUICK QUESTION!)
I am an artist (still training myself to do manga art and professional coloring) but.. how do you get copyright? I know there's websites and of course a deal and payment you have to make but.. can you tell me step by step how?

KuraiDraws In reply to DemonFox889 [2014-07-27 00:20:08 +0000 UTC]
ummmm....let's see....
I've never gotten anything formally copyrighted. Typically uploading an artwork or design to a website that's date stamped gives you a kind of informal copyright - some form of evidence that you owned the art/design before another person claims to. But from what I can gather, depending on your country, that doesn't permit you to sue for damages or misuse of your work unless it is copyrighted.
each country should have its own copyright website, looking up registering copyright or registering trademarks for your country should give you a good result. It DOES cost money though each time, which is why a lot of people don't bother unless they're planning on making more than registering the work costs.
also, you can't copyright a concept - eg. fairy prince becomes human and marries an earth girl - but you should be able to copyright the work involved with the story, the designs, the script, etc.

hmmm....
Any suggestions?
Would watermark be close to 100% protection, promise, and proof, in case my work is ever be stolen? and as for the stories.. How do I keep them safe?
I really want to post my manga ideas but again I have very high paranoia of not of not only losing my characters but the work I put into them..
I trust deviantart but I feel I need something more. I have stopped placing my work because of it but I am desperate to get back on.
Or, What is the probability if I make my own website?

well what a watermark does is essentially deter people from reposting that particular work as their own, because then they'd need to remove the watermark, but there are watermark removers online and some people do go to the effort. Putting a huge watermark on a piece can deter fans, so can posting low quality pictures, and many artists advise putting a watermark or signature in a place where it doesn't distract from the picture.
if you get your own website you'll run the same problem, basically whatever you post online is able to be stolen by a particularly keen individual. if you want to collaborate with someone (writing a manga), or are working on your own manga you want to publish, keep it to yourself until you talk to a publisher - their legal team will sort out copyrights and trade marks. Or if you're self publishing it's up to you to decide whether you want to allow people to save you work to their computers, post it online, use it when no credit is given in exchange for more people to notice your work, or whether you want to post a few things and keep your cards close to your chest until your release.
My local university allows students to come in certain days out of the month to ask legal questions to the student lawyers there, so maybe see if you can get a free consultation with someone in your area if you have a particular idea you really want to protect.
One thing though I once heard that I've stuck to is that artists can expect for their work to get stolen, but a truly creative person will be able to come up with more ideas than can be stolen.
