And I don't usually ship anyone/a shota, but Raz is such sheer unadulterated awesome that he doesn't count. Not to mention, the pairing is crackfully cracktastic. I like~.
I dunno. Raz is pretty mature for his age, so I think that can factor out the ginormous and totally illegal age gap just a little. They seem to balance out somewhat. Personality-wise...they're on opposite spectrum sides, and maybe that's partly why. Raz seems pretty stubborn, a little charismatic, and incredibly charming, so I think he could bring Sasha out of his shell. Little by little. Sasha could (at least try) to get Raz to calm the fuck down and think things through when Raz does his little acting-on-impulse thing. And Sasha seems like the older, sexy stoic teacher everyone is gay for, so. Raz would go for him.
Or I'm just insane and it's all in my head.

Yeah, I can understand the sort of "wrongly happy" feelings towards the pairing. And so I don't just repeat you, I'll say that I agree with just about everything you said. I do enjoy the pairing (partially because I'm a fan of mentor/student psychology) and I'm glad that there are other people out there who see it as something more than just "omgyaoi".
Though Sasha totally does have the whole stoic, deep-voiced, German thing going on. So I can't complain.
And yes, the pairing is cracktastic. It makes for some very interesting fanfiction. xD;
