hey, do you know how to fix opentoonz lag? It gets really laggy when I turn the union skin on.
π: 0 β©: 1
DraconianRain In reply to Raidyance [2018-04-15 01:14:27 +0000 UTC]
Not really. All I can recommend is to make sure you've updated your graphics/video card driver recently and try using raster layers instead of vector when using onion skin and then clean up your animations in a toonz vector layer.
π: 0 β©: 1
Raidyance In reply to DraconianRain [2018-04-15 18:31:56 +0000 UTC]
I think it may be that I'm not using raster layers first. Thanks!
π: 0 β©: 1
DraconianRain In reply to Raidyance [2018-04-15 23:58:35 +0000 UTC]
It's very likely. Raster is just an image while vector takes calculating and a lot of resources and should only be used for cleanup and not sketching or first drafts unless you have a crazy powerful PC, but even then it can lag.
Good luck!

Hi. Do you know anything on the video editing program, Camtasia? I currently use Movavi, and I think it's great for the features it carries, but in small areas, it does seem a little too much for beginners. While I wouldn't consider myself an expert in video editing, I am looking to go a little deeper, and I like the look of Camtasia. It doesn't seem too complex. I wonder if it can do things like support GIF files, set transparencies, adjust speed, change durations to multiple clips at once, and things like that.
I haven't made up my mind yet on whether or not I want to make the switch, but I thought about it.

DraconianRain In reply to leduc-gallery [2018-01-26 22:40:24 +0000 UTC]
I have version 8 and never upgraded. I still love it. It was very simple but I don't know enough about Camtasia 2018. I plan to upgrade to it though. As far as I know it can still create gifs and upload directly to youtube and vimeo your finished edits as well as provide royalty free content. From clip art, to transitions, titles, fonts and music. And yes it can set transparencies and change speed and do freeze frame. I used to use it all the time for my tutorials that required more indepth steps.
I highly recommend saving up and making the switch. A lot of tech smith software is cross compatible. When I had my slow laptop I bought Snagit because camtasia was too powerful as a recorder. I would record with Snagit and edit with Camtasia Studio editor. It's a two package deal with Camtasia Studio. It comes with a very high quality screen recorder and matching editor. I wasted so much time and money on other editors. Camtasia rarely if ever crashes and the team notices bug reports and works on them. They are also interactive on twitter.

Wow. It sounds like an excellent program. Thanks for the info. I'll take your word for it.
I forgot it existed. It seems there are more video editors only for Windows. When I search for video editors for Mac, I find mostly Wondershare products with different brand names or something between very simple verses very complex. I'll do some digging on Camtasia.

I personally think it is but like I said, the 2018 version had an overhaul and I am not 100% certain on some features. My advice is when you have the time, use a trial first.
Yeah my friend had that issue only she wanted a screen recorder. I think she used OBS or Xsplit in the end and just adobe software to video edit. I think it's all about personal taste. I prefer simple because I only do simple videos. I don't need fancy effects.
π: 0 β©: 1
leduc-gallery In reply to DraconianRain [2018-01-30 14:02:01 +0000 UTC]
Oh certainly. I always use the trial before making any purchases. How else would I know if it's for me? I'm actually very particulate about that. I make an actual checklist and explore through videos as well.
I agree. It's all about personal taste, like you said. Quickly looking at OBS and Xplit, they do seem complex, and I too prefer something simple for just screen recording. Luckily, I was given Movavi Screen Recorder for free because I am subscribed to Movavi's newsletter and left a review on one of their products on Amazon.

DraconianRain In reply to leduc-gallery [2018-02-01 00:01:01 +0000 UTC]
Sorry but I have to say it. It always surprises me by how many people won't use a trial, they just get over excited, jump in and buy it.
OBS seems complex but it's actually very simple and useful. It can convert FLV files into MP4s very quickly. Xsplit is confusing and very heavy duty. Oh that is lucky. If you get camtasia it has some extra features while recording that are useful. All you need to do is make sure the hotkey settings don't interfere with the software you are using and it's extremely handy. Well it has been for me because it meant less editing.

leduc-gallery In reply to DraconianRain [2018-02-01 04:21:45 +0000 UTC]
That's fine. Temptation has always been the ultimate weakness. Not for me, baby!
A converter built into screen recording for OBS sounds good. And good to know for Camtasia. I just need things to look more professional now and use more professional tools. I'll still keep Movavi for simple edits or if I want to go back and edit a video. There is something about it I just love.
Not to just throw a dozen questions at you, but back when we talked about tablets, was it XP-Pen Artist you mentioned? I'm bummed because my Ugee pen suddenly stopped working and it can't be recharged. With all the problems I've been having, I'm most likely going to leave Ugee. I left a topic on the Affinity forum asking how the compatibility works for Huion with Affinity, and someone mentioned XP-Pen Artist. So far, I like what I read. Also, I'm surprised to see how many sellers on Amazon remove their bad reviews. Using the site, FakeSpot, and copying Amazon URLs over, some products actually have very bad reputations. XP-Pen and Wacom are really good brands though. FakeSpot ranks them with an A. (I'm not sure how accurate the site is.)

Well for professional looking video without needing Adobe, I highly recommend Camtasia. It's very good and can produce up to 4K now if your pc has the power to do so.
Yes I mentioned Huion and XP Pen. I am unfamiliar with fakespot but Amazon has been deleting bad reviews for years which is why I like ebay. You are stuck with your bad reviews for 12 months. Some people likeΒ yiynova as well. I have heard many positive things about it and it's quality.

leduc-gallery In reply to DraconianRain [2018-02-01 15:45:11 +0000 UTC]
I will consider it.
I'm more familiar with Ebay than Amazon, but if I am to buy a new tablet, it will be from the manufacture website anyway. I found Fakespot because I was shocked in the result of Ugee after hearing such good stuff about it. That's why I mentioned Amazon, since Fakespot can filter the true reviews.Β Yiynova, eh? There is a lot to choose from.

Me too but only because Amazon was closed off to AU for so long. I only buy ebooks on amazon and go elsewhere for a review.

DraconianRain In reply to leduc-gallery [2018-02-02 21:32:24 +0000 UTC]
These days I don't bother reviews unless they are incredibly negative. I have found spiteful people post a lot of false reviews as well or people that don't know how to use the item they are buying leaving lots of 1 star reviews. Lately I just buy it and wing it then resell it or give it away with honesty of whether or not it's good. Only when I resell I leave it as an auction item or do a garage sale.

leduc-gallery In reply to DraconianRain [2018-02-03 17:09:36 +0000 UTC]
Yes, it does get frustrating when people don't review products accordingly. Someone reviewed a program after two days of using it, and a lot of things he said can't be done in it actually can be done in it. It takes a lot more than two days for study before giving a proper review. I think so many people want to be heard but don't actually understand the criteria, so I tend to stick with professional reviewers. For software, TopTenReviews or About. For movies, Mojo Movie. For games, IGN or GameXplain. It's probably a harsh way to put it, but I consider reviewers like Nostalgia Critic a "YouTube Rambler."

Yes, I have encountered this and I have seen this with young teens reviewing cintiq saying it can't do the pressure levels yet they never changed it under preferences or customized the hotkeys. They actually said you can't change the hotkeys. The first basic tutorial shows you this DX It frustrates me but this is why I also give personal reviews on my blog. I have a wordpress and Blogspot. I make money on Blogspot with adsense. It's very very very little but it's something.
I don't use About after I found out they often give positive reviews because they were paid to. I used to use About a lot. Instead I go to any of the top ten listed reviews and fish through for someone who knows what they are talking about but usually I try for myself and then review it on my blog to help others out. I watch youtube reviews often if they are actually using the item because most times after reading the specs I can judge if the person is an idiot or knows their stuff and make an educated guess from there.
Also if you're not on twitter, it is worth having one to follow tech smith as they post tutorials, reply with help and retweet others helpful hints.

I see. At least you're getting recognition, right? It is my plan to eventually use Adsense as well, but I want to wait until my website is presentable enough. On top of that, I also want to wait until I have at least one product before opening my website. Also, what is your Blogspot/Wordpress account? I don't have an account too, but just wondering.
About too? Man oh man. Nothing like corruption. And yes, there is a certain way people need to approach reviews since viewers are there to learn. Don't get off track, stick with the theme, have a gentle voice, don't have it too long, back everything up, and especially, be prepared. As for YouTube reviews, I'm noticing they are quite big and is a great way to get out there (not that it's news for you). I'm not too well known, but my tutorials really put the boost on traffic.
Oh for Camtasia, you mean? I was thinking on a Twitter account not so long ago actually. I will have to do some research in how it works. Haha.

DraconianRain In reply to leduc-gallery [2018-02-10 01:19:12 +0000 UTC]
Ah somewhat. It's slow. I personally do not recommend waiting. It took me 6 years to build my adsense revenue before I got my first paycheck. Start now and grow. You have to own a blog for at least 30 days unless they've changed it with a minimum of something like 30 posts. So one post a day of activity. Always worry about presentation last because a lot of the time, readers aren't there for your page design, just the content. I don't mean to sound harsh, just trying to be concise.
Yeah, if you're lucky you can find that with youtube. I am guilty of all of those things which is why I chose text based videos. Keeps me focused. Plus when people from other countries find out I am female or hear my accent, they get very very very creepy. I like to remain as simply "Draconian Rain" and not be bothered by creepy people.
Yeah I mean Camtasia. Tech Smith is the company that makes it. I bought my things directly from them on their site. I like that they keep updated downloads attached to your account plus a copy of your serial if you need it. I am surprised by how many sites don't do that anymore. Also cool. If you get on twitter, it would be nice to see you there. If you like RT's tell me because I RT a LOT of art and videos.

It's really up to you but one of my regrets was "waiting until" and over perfecting my site. It was extremely difficult to get advertising up and running and harder to get it to generate anything more than 2cents a year in the first 3 years. Something my friend advised against me doing was "waiting until" and I still wish I had listened. I don't mean to sound so pushy, I just get overly passionate and I wouldn't want you to go through the same as me because you deserve better. If you have the content, definitely start posting because the age of your site matters a lot when you begin advertising. You honestly can't start earning on day one like so many like to proclaim you can. I think even on ProjectWonderful your site needs to be about 3 months old with frequent updates. But those limitations may have changed now.
They can. I am thinking of trying audio tutorials again to see how it will go but it is a very difficult thing for me to do with past experiences.
It is. I love them for it. The community can be quite smug, but so far for me, tech support has been kind and quick. And thank you ^^

Thank you for all the support. I'm thinking that I am going to release my website. If I had an actual business going on and wanted to work out a managing system, then that would be different, and that was originally my plan. But right now, being so early in progress, it will just be a site to view art, though I do want to get comics up there too.
It's up to you, but it's a shame it's come to that. I've read some really trashy and twisted things online. Someone posted on Facebook an adorable video of a little girl getting a dog. Later, I went to YouTube to rewatch it. I typed, "Girl gets..." and before I could finish, there was so much trash that shouldn't even be listed.
Good to know.

You're welcome and you can always add that as you go. Keep trying but I am passionate about not holding back. One of the hardest things to do even if you pay for advertising, is to get traffic. So the sooner the better.
Yeah I know. It's not good but unfortunately the upload rate is near impossible to moderate which is why we as users need to hit the report button. That's what it's there for.

I'm glad you told me, because I often struggle with time (and I was actually having a lot of anxiety). I decided to do it. The website is currently published. It's under a subdomain, but that will change very soon. I'm just reviewing the money plan and terms and trying to understand why the search doesn't work. I'll be making a deviation of the site shortly, but here is an early sneak peek if your interested.
prevalentarts.zohosites.com
Yeah but I don't feel the report button does much any more. I've reported videos that go against YouTube's terms, but several months later, still there. It would really make a difference if searches filtered by relevancy and not what is commonly searched. I forget the site, but there was one in which served as an encyclopedia and directory, and it didn't have a search. Everything was narrowed by topic. It's less convenient but safer.

I understand. I really do. I have spent too much time worrying about "what if" and "what will go wrong" That I have missed out on countless opportunities. I am my biggest problem. Thanks for the link, I'll go check it out now.
Was it a repost? If something gets reported enough times they get an IP ban which is why we should stay vigilant in reporting. By default Youtube is set to relevancy but people put inappropriate tags which screw up the algorithm for searching.

That's too bad. I think most people have so many plans and so much they want to get out, that they don't realize they expect more than what can actually be given. In a way, time is everyone's weakness, but getting to that place we all want to get to takes small baby steps. You know, I'll tell you something that might be worth the information. My cousin's friend came up with a children's story called The Magic Poof (a girl's hair which is a character), and he wanted to get it out there all his life but struggled in it. Eventually, he thought about targeting a "smaller" audience. He showed a couple of kids, and they loved it. It eventually added up to recognition. The company that makes the Barbie dolls and Toy Story toys want to make a cartoon of The Magic Poof now. The point of the story is really just knowing who to target. It starts with the smaller audience, the people we don't expect.
Sadly, I don't think it was. I suspect that not all reports go through or are checked on, because there are so many on YouTube. And I think more people would encourage the content than do something about. Whatever. I'm not gonna let it bother me. I stress too much on the little things.
