Boy did he ever! I placed each hair individually. And somehow, his tail grew REALLY long in the process.
But, live and learn. Learning from the difficult pieces is one of the best parts of sculpting, right?

Oh, yeah. And it's amazing how quickly skills can improve, too. I am working on a set of 8 or 9 dragons for a convention right now, and the difference between even those ones (which I made all within the last 3 weeks) is amazing. I'll be posting them sometime this week. I think I'll do a chronological ordering of them, and then a rainbow order (since they coincidentally ended up being in all the colours of the rainbow!).

I know how that goes. What I do, is I carry around a sketchbook. I draw stuff that I find interesting and I sketch out ideas which come to mind. Then, when I want to draw but have no ideas, I have a ton of backed up ideas/concepts to work from.

Exactly! Stockpile any cool ideas you might have. I like to draw cool shapes and textures into the books. You never know when you'll use all the little pieces and throw together something big.
