I'm increasing the number each year and succeeding. I'm wondering though how university is going to affect this, besides the fact that I know I'm going to be broke.
Who have you seen?

ImaginaryIam In reply to DreamerFace [2009-10-24 20:13:34 +0000 UTC]
Hahaha, i know how that is.
I see mostly locals, Hotspur, Oh, The Story!, Dropout Year, Victory By Revenge, American Diary... Then bigger ones like Framing Hanley, All Time Low, We The Kings, Cartel, Cavo, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, and so on, lol.

Ooooh, I want to see We The Kings, but they don't tour here yet, so I can't. Epic fail. I met All Time Low at a signing in Amsterdam which was insane - who the hell does a signing in Holland that isn't Dutch?! They also played an acoustic set which was epic cos I couldn't go and see them live properly due to school work. And I missed Taking Back Sunday which I regret immensely. I'm guessing you like similar music to me then given I like the sound of the concerts you go to (that I know!)

lol, We The Kings was good live, but i couldn't see because some fangirl shoved me out of her way and i'm really short...
ATL is so funny, my friend is the bassists' cousin.
Look up the others! They are sooo great, i'll tell them all to do a Holland tour. Hotspur just won the freshmen award on the US Mtv, I'm so proud of them!

I went through your journal today - not cos I'm a stalker - I was procrastinating like CRAZY and I downloaded some stuff from Oh! The Story (your free mp3 links). They are amazing. ♥
I had the same with the Kaiser Chiefs. I've been a fan for ages and I ended up behind some really tall woman who decided to bob her head and dance when I got a view just to piss me off. God.
It almost happened at McFly too but I'm too obsessed with them and I was like, move. Because I'm English, the girl got spooked and I pushed into her.
I'm assuming you know loads of amazing bands so I'll just come to you for advice! ATL are pretty funny The drummer is a sweetie.
I will stop talking about me, I promise.

lol, Oh, The Story! played at my birthday party, they are soo sweet. --plus they're all realllllly cute.
Ugh, that bites.
lol
I don't know loads.. but i know a few, i only hang out with the really cool ones.
You would like Go Crash Audio too, i know the drummer cos he used to be in another of the local bands around me called The Hint, so when he quite, i sort of followed, lol.

OH WOW. I'm jealous. I don't GET birthday parties. Doesn't that make me awesome?
I will have a listen to Go Crash Audio. I wish there were local bands in Holland that weren't Dutch. There's one "Only Seven Left" who are kinda good (I met them; they live in my town) But it's not like, oh listen! Destine is a Dutch band and they are really awesome too. I want to see them live soon.
At least you get to hang out with the bands. I'm just a little jealous, I'll admit.
Let's talk about you as I promised I would.
HOW ARE YOU?

ImaginaryIam In reply to DreamerFace [2009-10-26 22:04:06 +0000 UTC]
lol, why not? birthday parties are the best.
Only Seven Left, i'll look that up.
lol, you should come to the US, Maryland has lot of exchange programs, maybe you could come hang with me for a summer.
Don't be jealous, just do something cooler. thats what i always say.
I'm great, I talked to my girlfriend this morning and then i wrote some new poetry to post, so i'm having a pretty good day, lol. How about you? (never worry about talking about yourself to much, i like hearing from people, its fun to find out what happening someplace else.)

I do the Dutch thing and I have cake on my birthday - but I'm born in July so no one is in the country for my birthday. SO LAME. GAH.
Me? I'm pretty good right now actually! I got tickets to see Escape the Fate yesterday. My brother's a huge fan and he's taking his girlfriend. I'm trying to persuade a friend to go. I'm gonna be the thirtythirdwheel so gotta prevent that! My essay was a success too!
Ooooh. I'm gonna try and come to Vermont/New Hampshire in summer to visit a friend of mine who lives there. We are gonna try and see some concerts while I'm there. I need to expand my ability to see bands!
If it makes you feel better, I have NO idea where Maryland is, so I'm currently researching it! My American geography is so fail. I know all the state names from a sad game I played as a kid, but beyond that.. *angelic look*.. I don't know England either, and I'm English so.. (A)
I always feel guilty because, people shouldn't care SO much about you.. if that makes sense.
GOD, this is long.

We have cake, but i usually throw a huge party too, lol
lol, that sounds like fun, i almost went to see them, but decided not to go, cos it was that or My Chemical Romance.
Vermont is about a three day drive north of me. same coast though. I live north of Baltimore City, its a good place to go if you want to get up close and personal with the bands. most of the bands around here will stick around and say high after a show.
All Time Low, and Good Charlotte are both from the same town as me.
I like hearing about people's lives in other countries, its cool.
Mines long too.... lets not worry about how long it is... lol

AAAAH. That's too cool. My "hometown" is Newcastle, England and I know like.. one band who come from there; Maximo Park? If you know them. They have a fantastic song called Apply Some Pressure (big fan, me )
I had to look up Maryland on a map. I knew it was East Coast and sort of near DC somewhere.. but that was about it. Baltimore as in "Good Morning, Baltimore"?! I'm not a musical nerd... not really. I would love to visit. I'd feel so cool and I'd want to sit on a binman van and sing. I mean, could it get better? -_-"
I had to choose between McFly and All Time Low in September. McFly won because... I'm biased. But I did get to meet All Time Low, which was pretty awesome.
There is an "arena" called the Melkweg here, and if the bands perform in the Oude Zaal (it's the 'Old Hall', and it's like 700 people), they often come and stand at the merchandise stand to meet people. Some bands do if they play in the Max room too, which is also at the Melkweg.
It's a really nice venue. I mean, seeing bands like Simple Plan with 1000 other people? That's pretty win. How big are the arenas in the US though? Small too I guess cos you can do LOADS in the same places!

ImaginaryIam In reply to DreamerFace [2009-10-29 04:04:38 +0000 UTC]
Never heard of them, lol
I'm like 45 minutes away from DC, lol, yes, Baltimore as in Good Morning Baltimore... lol I actually saw them shooting a scene once, it was wicked.
My favorite venue is called The Recher, and it only holds like 300 people at the very most. its pretty boss, i saw Framing Hanley there and got to hug Nixon, it made my life. lol
But if you go into like downtown baltimore, you can go see like 5 shows in one night and not walk more than a mile.

ARGH; sorry I'm so slow. Busy, busy girl. First, HAPPY HALLOWEEN FOR YESTERDAY. did you do anything amazing?!
45 minutes isn't much! I live that far away from Amsterdam but check the size of the Netherlands against the USA.
Oh I'm jealous. I wish I could have been there. I love that movie a bit too much.
I live in the "Media Capital" of Holland where they film most tv shows and stuff, so I'm supposed to see loads of famous people and things. All I see is news crews sometimes on the streets getting "the people's opinion". It's a bit lame!!
300 people?! Jesus. That's so tiny. I think our school hall holds more than that and it's tiny! HAhaha, that's so cool. I went to see a secret Snow Patrol concert a friend won two tickets to. It was filmed and there were only 200 people in the room. It was intense. You could like have a conversation with them (which we did).. surreal!
I'm coming to Baltimore. 5 shows in one night and not walk more than a mile? HEAVEN. I
n Amsterdam, on the Leidseplein (which is where it's all happening), you might be lucky and also see 5 shows within about 2 km, BUT, it's unlikely 5 bands are in Amsterdam at the same time. It's normally about 3 shows. That's not bad though for a tiny country!

I was sick, actually I'm still sick, but i ended up watching really bad horror movies with my brother and his girlfriend all night. I spoze it could be worse.
300 people is a lot around here, lol, i never go to huge shows.
Thats really neat, i always enter to win those type of things but i never win, lol
Haha, definitely. I'll meet you for a show.
I'm going to like 3 in the next week. lol

God, I'm so bad at this. I'm sorry I can't reply on time! I hope you are better.
Which shows did you go and see?
I might be going to see some funky Dutch bands in February. I'm pro any concert where the tickets are 8 euro. I have NO IDEA how many dollars that is.
Haha, I never win things in competitions. I'm unlucky.
So let's ask random questions otherwise we will run out of things to say!
What's your.. favourite movie?

ImaginaryIam In reply to DreamerFace [2009-11-21 03:30:40 +0000 UTC]
Oh gawd, sorry I was off so long, i forgot completely about my dA for a while, now i feel bad, lol.
Shows..... I saw Oh, The Story! and Fire In The Hole, and then in like two weeks I'm seeing Hotspur, and then probably All Time Low in december.
Umm.. okay, my FAVORITE movie of all time is Alice In Wonderland (the original) and my second favorite is called Wrist Cutters-A Love Story, its about a guy who kills himself (shocker) but then falls in love in the afterlife, and so on, its really funny and weird, but its kind of obscure here, so i don't know if you can even get it where you live.
Okay, my turn.... Do you have pets? (lame i know, but i like to know these things, lol)
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DreamerFace In reply to ImaginaryIam [2009-11-21 09:04:10 +0000 UTC]
Wow. Well, have fun at those. I think I'm seeing Billy Talent in January and maybe 30STM in March, but right now it's all foggy and up in the air!
.. yeah, no. I don't think that is for sale here. It's a little bit of an odd one.
Pets? Interesting one for me, given the fact my brother is a reptile fanatic. We have two tortoises, two terrapins, five frogs, a dog, a cat.. we might have fish if they haven't died.. and yeah We have this neighbour who has a son and he likes coming to look at the reptiles. It's just a tad weird.
Back to me... Are you a reader? Favourite book? XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ImaginaryIam In reply to DreamerFace [2009-11-24 01:32:05 +0000 UTC]
Haha, I'm planning on it. Billy Talent is cool, i dunno the other one.
Haha, my dad is like that too. We used to have a python 6' long. we had all sorts of stuff, but not we just have three dogs and two cats now.
Ohhh... so many books.... I'd have to say my top three would be A Great And Terrible Beauty by Libba Brey, Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs, and Its Kind Of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. what about you?
