Life's alright. I've been so busy over break... it's ridiculous. I need to give you back your Descendants of Darkness series! I'll be sure to gather them up and try to get them to you sometime over spring break! I'm so sorry for keeping them so long! >.<

In other news, stuff's been normal. I've been in a crazy Disney relapse and have fallen in love with The Hunchback of Notre Dame! Every time I think about it, it reminds me of your reading the actual book! I should probably get to that at some point, too... >.>

Haha, I completely forgot you had them! I'm
such a dumbass. Thank you, don't feel too
pressured to return them quickly.

I had one of those a while back! I'm in love
with Frollo's voice, HoND is my favorite, too!
Tony Jay had a beautiful voice... It's a slow
paced book, but I really like it! As you
probably assume, Disney did a pretty decent job
of butchering the actual story(but I still like
the disney version). I have two different
translations, and I recommend the one by Walter
J. Cobb(the Signet Classic version), though
maybe that's because I read it first. The
other one I have was translated anonymously(It's
the Barnes&Noble version), it seems like a very
good translation, but the flow is less natural.
I've also seen a few of the movies, if I remember
right, I think the best one I saw was the 1982
version(there are a ton of them, I saw 3.)
Or maybe it was the 77... Argh, I can't remember.
My favorite character is Gringoire, but he wasn't
in the disney film(other than that, I really like
Frollo.)

I totally agree with your opinion of Frollo's voice! XD Hellfire is one of my favorite songs, but I have to confess that Clopin is my favorite character. I know the Disney version picks up the original story and tosses it on it's face, but I do enjoy it and all of it's unrealistic wonder. My friend showed me a BAD BAD animated version of the book, and it made me want to cry.

As much as I like Frollo in the evil villain role, it freaks me out a little how many Frollo/OC fanfictions there are... >.> I mean, yes, he has an awesome vioce, but he's also an old, lecherous man who wants to both sleep with the girl he loves and kill her. I can't say I understand it...

I read a little bit about Gringoire when I looked up the original plot, so I kinda know who he is. I'll definitely take your recommendation on the book, though!

I knooow, my sister used to yell at me because
there was a point where I listened to Hellfire
like 20 times a day. I think I know the 'bad
bad' version you're talking about, it was
horrible! xD
And really? Eeeww.. Why do people do that for
disney movies and such? I don't know... But
personally I'm almost always attracted to that
kind of older man.. It's kind of a problem.
But the Disney version demonized Frollo a lot.
In the book, he's a pious person before he sees
Esmeralda, but his pent up frustration from
being an old ass virgin made him psycho. He's
also the arch deacon, and not a judge(if you
remember, in the beginning of the disney movie,
the arch deacon was the fat guy who made Frollo
adopt Quasimodo), and what actually happened is
Quasimodo was abandoned at the church doors, where
the nuns were going to burn him as a demon, but
Frollo saved him and felt sorry for him, and
taught him sign language since he turned deaf
because of the bells. I guess the only other
thing besides being horny that made Frollo a
'bad guy' was that he was a chemist as well as
a priest, and was searching for the Philosopher's
stone.

Clopin was cool in the movie, but I think they
tried to combine Gringoire's character into his,
since Gringoire was a playwright, and kind of
fanciful, and Clopin was the fat king of thieves.
(The other half of Gringoire's character, I guess,
went into Pheobus, who's actually an asshole.)

Em, I won't say anything else, since there's still
a lot of stuff to create interest, I don't want to
ruin it for you at all. Victor Hugo also wrote 'Les
Miserables' which is far better than HoND, if I may
say so. The Signet Classics version is also apparently
the best translation, and it's the one I have(I know
a girl with great literary judgment who read some
different translations, and says the SC one is best.
I like it a lot so far.)

I guess life's going well, it was hectic for a while,
but now it's rather stagnant. I'm trying to get a
job, but the search yields no results as yet.

Yeah... I don't know why people write that kinda stuff with Disney characters... And I know what you're saying, but I think there is a "too old" point and I believe for our age, he is just that. I mean, he had gray hair (in the movie) when he adopted Quasimodo, and he looked 40 at the youngest, so when people write fanfiction for him, they're talking a 60 year old man minimum... >.> And yeah, I heard that Frollo wasn't really a bad guy in the book, but in the movie they just made him a little more.. ambitious? I mean the whole, "I'll find her if I have to burn down all of Paris" thing was a little fanatical.

Yeah, I know Clopin and Pheobus are mean and jerks in the book, but in the movie they're fun. I wonder why they didn't add Gringoire, though...

Yes, I know what you mean. I think my age
range of interest is 40-65. Sometimes,
though, recently I'll go for as young as 35.

I'm pretty sure Gringoire wasn't added
because it was too much, you know? They had
the two 'heroes', the damsel, the bad guy, etc.
So, since Esmeralda liked Pheobus, they made
him her requited love interest of to cut out
complication.

Hahaha, actually I am still waiting for the confirmation from the new boss (or rather the supervisor of the new company) whether will I get this job or not.
