Hey, Foxflake may I ask how things work in DA-Speedpaint.? I'm still a little new to Deviant Art, currently lost...

Hey U3C, sorry for the late reply, I wasn't online for some time. Probably you already found some answers on your own by now, but I'll try to explain it anyway
Da-Speedpaint is having 3 different challenges, a daily one and two week-long challenges.
They're posting a theme every day (that's the SdJ); you have one hour to paint whatever you think of when hearing that theme. It's quite like the speedpaintings we're doing on the Sketchathon, just that you may paint for a whole hour in total. It doesn't matter when excactly you paint, you should just submit it within the (ca) 24 hours until they post a new theme.
For what they consider to be a Speedpainting, better read this: [link] , they also have some tips in their journals.
To submit a speedpainting, just upload it to dA. Then you can either go to DA-Speedpaint and click "Contribute Art" on the front page, which gives you a screen to choose what you want to contribute and to which folder to submit it. Alternatively you can visit your uploaded painting and hit "Submit to group" somewhere on the right side. There should be some similar screen then (though you have to type the name of the group manually there). Depending on the presets of the group, you might have to wait a bit until the group accepts your submission.
More or less the same goes for the other to challenges, they just run a week long. And I think the SdJ and "weekly challenge" are to be done from imagination, while the "study challenge" is meant to do studies on the given subject.
After the deadline is expired, they post all submissions on a poll and everyone may vote for the entry they consider to be the best.
