# About me

I'm a 17 year old girl living off the Peninsula of the Malaysian coast who has weird associations with fictional characters. Secretly living in my own imagination.

I try to sew my own details into cosplay when I can, but mostly end up poking my finger into a bloody pulp.

I've started cosplaying since the beginning of 2013, so forgive me if they aren't as magnificent as those Professional ones. But would gladly accept feedback!

Thanks for reading this tiny bio~

Well thank you. I suppose I might be, among my cosplaying friends I used to be referred to the English one (being that I do have English roots) I love cosplaying as characters from Hetalia, since I can put my own twist on them.

theradiatingdrain In reply to GummybearAddict [2012-11-13 14:54:58 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome. Aw, "the English one", that makes you sound like a bit of an outsider - but in a nice way. English roots? Really? So whereabouts in the roots of the family tree would that be? Well it's the twist of the fruit that makes the juice. I'll have to check out Hetalia now as I've not heard of it before.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GummybearAddict In reply to theradiatingdrain [2012-11-13 15:13:10 +0000 UTC]

Sadly, it does make me feel very isolated. I live in an Asian country, and being the only non Asian looking one in the group makes me feel a bit awkward. But they're lovely people nonetheless! Dad is the Englishman in the family. Indeed, that's actually really clever! I like that. Hetalia is basically a Anime about Personifications of countries. Even though it's got historical inaccuracies, the show is very funny and makes people smile a minute with the lovable characters. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

theradiatingdrain In reply to GummybearAddict [2012-11-13 15:28:17 +0000 UTC]

Well in isolation one evolves. I like that look, it's the future, cross cultural like John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Ah, I see. Well my daughter Lolita is part Maasai as her mother is Kenyan. Oh, really? You think? Well Thank you for squeezing that line out of me then! The Personification of countries? I like the concept. I'll see if I can find an episode or two of the show later. Listen, I've got to go. It's Anne isn't it? I'm Simon...in a rather cold London. Laters!

GummybearAddict In reply to theradiatingdrain [2012-11-13 15:32:48 +0000 UTC]

I suppose so, isolation is a lovely thing. I'd rather be isolated than popular. Oh gosh John Lennon and Yoko Ono, bunch of angry Beatles fans after her blood. Wow Kenyan? That must be wonderful to learn about such an amazing culture. Well yes, you cannot keep an anime fixed on fact for very long. Though it is quite entertaining if you let go of those inaccuracies. It's actually pretty well done for countries, it's also basically stereotypes. But people also do Roleplaying accounts of these characters; as I have done. See you around, Simon. And yes it's Anne. Hah, cold this time of year I expect. Bye~

theradiatingdrain In reply to GummybearAddict [2012-11-13 18:54:49 +0000 UTC]

That's the thing, sometimes I like to be alone but then again at other times I want to be with everybody, everywhere, all of the time. You have to be ordinary to be popular and the ordinary is pointless. Quite, and they even tried to blame her for the break-up of the band. I like the Maasai culture although it can be quite hard work incorporating such a different culture into one's life. That's what I like about Anime, it's all about fantasy and the future. A friend of mine created a character called Tank Girl and she inhabits a dystopian future where her only real escape is by inducing herself into a sort of Aborigional "dreamtime" state of mind. Anyway, it's great to meet you Anne (that's a very English name and also a great Stooges song). Bye for now. PS London is cold, the skies a grey and leaden. I like it though, if I was a season I'd probably be Winter although my favorite season is the spring.

GummybearAddict In reply to theradiatingdrain [2012-11-14 02:00:05 +0000 UTC]

That's a tricky topic, I'd rather be in a corner with a book than participating in the odd conversations my cosplaying group enjoys (it gets pretty bad occasionally) Ordinary is too mainstream, people are all complicated in their own beautiful ways. Well yes, but we cannot all blame her, she was wonderful in her own way too. No one's perfect really. I don't know much about the Maasai culture but I'd like to learn about it nonetheless. Being from a mixed culture family for me is a bit difficult since sometimes values are complete polar opposites. Anime is the escape from reality a lot of people want, and it's full of plot twists and character drama; sometime tons of people enjoy, so no wonder people love it. Or some boys in my class like the skimpy clad girls, but that's another matter. I like the idea of this Tank Girl, I'd love to hear more. Likewise meeting you, Simon. It is a very English name, Dad named me. Bye then. London's quite cold and gloomy from my recollection. Here in Singapore it's hot and humid, you cannot go walking in the streets without sweating buckets. Winter is my favourite season, but we don't get seasons here. I have to pray for trips to see different seasons.

Is that because when your cosplay partners are out of character you don't find them very good company? I extricate myself from such situations by always having some artwork on me to be getting on with but that in itself can attract unwanted attention. That's beautifully put if I may say so (I'm not terribly good with words which can make me sound a little blunt sometimes). I think perfection lies in the imperfection. The Maasai are basically nomadic which I love the idea of, they're very healthy and live with the land as opposed to "off it". Lo's mother is more westernised which is fine but the parties used to go on for too long, sometimes days and the non-stop chatter used to make it hard to concentrate on anything. Yes, polar opposites to begin with I guess but you just have to try and meet each other half-way, like somewhere on the equator. I like that method of escape, we are all free to dream/fantasize especially when we're working in a factory or something. Well boys will be boys and Anime is mostly drawn by the male of the species. Those girls are ideals anyway and I'm all for a ideal of beauty. Tank Girl is quite aggressive which is probably why her character was adopted by the Suicide Girl movement. Tank Girl inhabits a post apocalyptic world where water is scarce and she befriends mutant cratures that are half Kangaroo, half human that were bred by the military but then abandoned. Tank Girl was made into a movie but alas Hollywood seemed more concerned about their profits than the intergrity of the film and although it was good in parts it wasn't not a touch on the comic book series. Which part of Singapore/Pulau Ujong? Oh my, that weather sounds quite energy sapping, at least when it's cold like London you just have to put on more clothes to maintain ones core temperature of 37 degrees (I'm very much into the weather by the way which probably makes me sound like the English stereotype). Have to been to England before? Sometimes we have all four seasons in one day. London is bright and breezy today, if a little cold. Bye-bye for now. Thank you for your charming company, my dear. Stay sparkling!

GummybearAddict In reply to theradiatingdrain [2012-11-14 14:01:29 +0000 UTC]

No, not exactly. Sometimes it does irk me when they're what we call the 'weebo' phase. They basically grope and hug everyone. I think since I'm cosplaying a country, I do owe the character that much respect. I don't want to get flag props if I can help it, since I also worry about disrespecting the flag. I know how many people have fought for their own countries rights and I don't want to be making a fool of these fallen heroes. I am in no place to do so. Haha, thank you, books are my lovely companions. Perfection is from the person's point of view, everyone has something that makes them beautiful. Your family sounds wonderful, and I'll be researching on the Maasai now, it's got me interested. My Dad is English and My Mum is Chinese, so Confucius sayings are no stranger to me. They argue over small issues like rice at every meal (mum) and that I need to learn more about my culture (both) or the lack of literature work exposed in school and that I should be in an elite school (Dad's favourite; he assumes I get Literature prowess from him. Well. At least he's happy.)Anime, as in the case of most books, paints a picture of the lives a lot of people may or may not want. It gives people an escape from normality; let's face it how many people are going to hop onto the streets and fight spirits demons while wearing a shirt that exposes their inhumanely fit body? Unlikely. And yeah, they draw a lot of female bodies when we're in class. They've even tried egging me on to cosplay them, since I'm the only cosplayer in school (unbelievable, but that's a lovely example of my isolation; in retrospect) I like the idea of her I really do. Wished that I'd heard of this before. I like the idea of the post apocalyptic world. I'm stuck in Central Singapore; on the main island. The weather is pretty bad, but then again it is a tropical island. I love cold temperature; mostly. The downside is my Dad likes calling me 'English Rose' since my cheeks naturally turn pink in cold weather. And when I mean pink I really mean as if I'm wearing blush; bit irritating. I have been, recently actually. I went back for a trip in June. I loved the cold weather and rain so much. I know! I was amazed, but it was still amazing nonetheless. Well weather is a big thing. Bye then! This has been absolutely amazing; the nicest conversation I've had hear in a long time. It's been a pleasure.

Is a weebo like a really fanatical fan? That all sounds rather invasive. I wouldn't worry about it, the British fought for the right to do whatever they liked with the Union Jack or the Cross of St George for that matter. It's been used in all forms on pop culture. I have a large Cross of St. George that I had made by a local company (Turtle & Pierce) which I've used as a prop for one or two things. What book is keeping you company at the moment? The Maasia are very beautiful, tall and languid. Lolita has inherited their long limbs which means she finds it hard to find clothes that fit as the arms or the legs are usually too short. Ah, so your mum is Chinese. The "Confucious says" reference meaning she's strict? Moralistic? Aw, sweetie. That must be horrible. Parents that argue in front of their chilren don't realise how damaging it can be. No wonder you have to escape into books. The Scots fought in skirts (kilts) and they didn't wear any underwear at all but I guess that kind of exposure was to shock the enemy.
Funny, when I was at school we drew willies for entertainment but then again it was an all-boys boarding school so we didn't know anything else. You do sound like and island within an island and you have my utmost respect as does anyone who ploughs their own furrow irrespective of what anyone else thinks or expects of them. Tank Girl was big in the late 80's, early 90's. She's still going strong though. I have company called Meteorographica (I say company but it's really just me at the moment) that makes art about the weather. I've actually made studies of the effects of climate on the skin so you mentioning your rosey cheeks made me sit up at take notice. It's a paradox in feeling more comfortable in the cold but at the expense of reddening cheeks which can lead to the heat of a blush making one feel quite self-concious. It might be as much about being of such a tender age as anything else so it'll proably pass whit time, even so I think rosey cheeks are beautiful. London is colder today, the skies are a diffused grey making everything look quite monochrome. Likewsie, the joy of a good conversation cannot be overestimated. Tkae care my sweet. Bye for now.

Basically, or someone who 'ships' everything, which means they spazz when they see a couple they like on the show. Like literally physically spazz. It is invasive since I really don't like physical contact. I still worry about it culturally. Even if it's become mainstream to wear the Union Jack, I still feel very awkward when I wear the shirt my Dad got for me, or when using my friend's flag. At the moment I have three books; Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Terry Pratchett's Good Omens and Angels and Demons which is Dan Brown. All wonderful books that I've read before (except Harry Potter; just started it.) She sounds really elegant. I've been a dancer for a long time; since about 3 or 4. My legs are pretty chunky since the muscle build has been a bit uneven. My arms look long and gangling, like my middle. I get called skinny prick a lot by a good friend of mine; though he reminds me of a soft stuffed bear. He's round and huggable, so making fun of my weight is no issue for me. Confucius is a Chinese poet who wrote a lot of Chinese sayings, she uses them liberally. Whenever she can basically. She is strict, but I know she cares for me, in between scoldings, even if I haven't done anything. I'm not very rebellious. They argue about little things, sometimes reading is a nice shield. I know they don't really mean it, but it's worrying since I see them get frustrated at each other, and divorce comes easy these days. Books are an escape. Oh gosh, the Scottish culture. We had a cultural day in school and there was someone dressed in a traditional Scottish kilt, he was teased a lot but I found it very meaningful for him to do so. He looked dashing on my opinion.
They draw topless girls, while I watch. I get curious really. And I would rather hang out with them than girls who constantly gossip about meaningless things who have never so much as touched a book. I do keep a certain level of respect for people, whether they give it to me or not. Though I cannot stand any of my teachers; nice or otherwise. I suppose it sprang from previous bad teachers. Sounds like a cool job, it'll grow someday. My dad likes poking fun at them, but he's the joker. Mum says it's better this way, since I resemble a China doll, but those things are beyond creepy. But that was very informative! Colder, a friend of mine has gone there for a holiday, hope she wraps up. This was really nice. Take care yourself, and your family too. Bye then.

It sounds like they get into quite e frenzied state. Physical contact can be electric, but mostly it just feels invasive. The red, white and blue target symbol is cool. It was adopted by the modernists in the 60's. I prefer it to the union Jack for prints as it's basically just a target. So you like to re-read your favorites? Do you write? She is, she's only nine but is in her fifth year of studying creative dance at Laban which is a wonderful dance school next door to where we live. Aw, "skinny prick", (you look perfect to me!) only a close friend could possibly get away with calling you such a name. He sounds nice. So you've been dancing a long time. Are you still studying? What kind of dance? I'm sure she does but getting scolded for no reason is unfair. Well I hope not for your sake and you're quite right it does come easy. I'm separated from Lo's mum, but then again she really only wanted to get married in order to get a UK passport. We have very little in common but we try to get on for Lo's benefit. The Scots do look striking in their ceremonial regalia don't they. The Maasai use a plaid (tartan) pattern in their robes and dye their hair red so there's some similarities there I think. Do these boys have a favorite topless character that they like draw or are they purely imagined? Big boobs or small? (Sorry, I'm the curious one now). I like the Weather Woman Manga. I've made some drawings from the series. I've never got on with teachers either. The most intelligent people I know are pretty much self-educated when it comes to life's philosophies. I've got some working drawings for a sculpture about puberty somewhere. I'll have to look them out as they're about the skin, the changes, the second stage of metamorphosis in adloescence etc. What does your dad do? I know what she means and I'm sure you look super cute but dolls can look creepy. The German artist Hans Bellmer used them in his work which tends to look rather disturbing. Really? Where is she staying? That's very good advice as it's been getting colder here all day. I checked out the time difference between Singapore and the UK and noticed at the same time it was 26 degrees over there with quite a high "discomfort" factor. Anyway, I hope you managed a decent nights sleep. Yes, this has indeed been nice and hopefully it will continue to be. Bye for now, honey. Yours, Simon

They do, I mean it's nice to see them excited, but there is a limit. It feels very invasive, but often people at these conventions get over-excited, because I've been told my England cosplay is 'popular' but there's so much I need to improve on. My wig scissors are haunting me, just calling out to me to start getting down to work. It is cool, I suppose I just get iffy on the self conscious note. I do like to re-read my favorties, though I do like to read a lot Terry Pratchett. I do write, mostly fanfiction, but I would like to publish something. But I need to start refining it; that means a lot of work and I just got off school. Well I hope she'll be a wonderful dancer. He gets away with more than he should with me. He's given me a fair amount of bruising (unintentionally of course) And thank you, though I get called braces face a lot, but honestly they look cool. He's very strong, and I'm not very good at holding up to his playful hits. He's a nice guy, and an amazing artist, though he doesn't believe it. I've been at this company for a really long time, we're like cockroaches, we'll never leave. There's three of us who have been here since 3. I am still studying; I'm only 14 I have a fair amount of years to go. I do contemporary dance, which means I have a lot of bruises on my knees and hips. Well, through the scolding I'm sure there's love...somewhere. They wouldn't, I do see them kiss and hug occasionally, which is good. Ah, well, sorry to hear, but at least you have your daughter to love, yes? Dad says children bring a lot joy, and that I am an exception and bring him owe (oh yay Dad thanks) but that's up to the parent. They do look striking, and that's really interesting. I'll be looking up the Maasai culture. Purely imagination, they vary but they do seem to have a few trends. They all have big breasts and cut off shirts. Sometimes their clothes are in shreds. You can be curious if you liked to, because they are some interesting creatures (the boys I mean) Really? Must have caught your interest then. They all irk me, for some reason. Exactly, life's philosophies is sometime you need to learn on your own not from a book that your teacher feeds into your head. That's cool, what does the sculpture look like? It sounds interesting and has got me curious. He's a business man. Cute is not a word I'd like to describe myself. Besides most of the boys who are attractive in school ask people to poke me with a stick to see if I growl or bite. And dolls are creepy. Hans Bellmer? I think my dad's mentioned him before. Not sure, she just said she was in London, I'd better tell her. She tends to dress for fashion rather than comfort. It's not so much the heat as it is the humidity, it sometimes feels like you're swimming through it. I did, though my mind was buzzing from having dance rehearsals on a really big stage today (it's 11.11am here.) It's been wonderful, nicer than a conversation I'd usually have with people my age here. Good Bye~
