I really like them...

;O;

F'wanky got ratted out by a rat-bastard. It's going to be gone for another week, then it gets re-instated. Just gotta wait. The one that pissed them off was the GOING FAIRY gay-up-fest with Sanji and Zolo.

Haha! DA i so touchy, i hope you can upload everything else, i havnt seen many and even tried to find anywhere else but only a few in a kaizuku fansubs forum.. What happens if it closes again when you upload everything? I just think your work is so funny, i ahvnt seen anyone else do something like that, its always just pairings blush, where yes in the real world if you turst and love someone, you get at it, and non of that 'rolling' sex, hand in hand rolling from one end of the bed to the other, what the hell- wheres the thrust??

I look forward to it being set up again Do the 'lessons' go in order from 1 to --? or randomly?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HandBack In reply to lozdangel [2008-10-11 22:51:34 +0000 UTC]

Well, most all of the pictures I drew are up on Fwanky already, but one is now taken down.

Those lessons are random. I did lesson #1 and maybe #5, then forgot where I was and started pulling random numbers. I wish I had he time to do 100 lessons.

I'm not a person that finds anything intrinsically sexy with gentle holding hand pictures unless they are very ornate and great art, so I just get down to the ridiculous side of things. I'll save rolling around in bed for the real thing, not some art, because rolling around doesn't say anything or entertain.

3 days I think, and Fwanky is back on line.

i cant wait! Have you seen the new one piece opening? i think they tend to drag them out, i mean like shit 5minutes into the episode and still no story has begun! Just the intro and gold roger speech. I do love them non the less, i love the anime so much i cant imagine what happens next!

I know I should have said this before commenting you on anything, but I really like your inking. I almost got fooled for digital.

I'm really bad myself, though I only started practicing seriously this year. Drawing lines is something I need work on. I hesitate too much since I never know how to stop XD.

HandBack In reply to HiroyValesti [2008-09-25 05:44:59 +0000 UTC]

I am not sure digital inking ever gets nearly as good as real inking. I find the brushes are instantly deadening in PS, but not as bad as markers on papers.

I just ink traditional with Jap nibs and English brushes.

Glad you like!

I agree, that's why the pen tool is much more useful.....Though its confusing and incredibly boring and repetitive. Mastering that tool could help if you want speed clean lines. I tried myself, but the learning process takes too long.

Same traditional mediums I'm practicing with though. My Maru nibs all died....(rusted) I have a G-Nib and a bunch of American nibs. As for ink, I started off with Deleter Black but I'm not sure I'll be using it much longer. My sister bought me an ink stone set and this big green bottle filled with black ink(has come kinf of language written on it... could be japanese). I just started experimenting with those this month.

I'm hoping to master being freehanded this year. It's a tough habit to get used to. Your lining skill inspires me XD

HandBack In reply to HiroyValesti [2008-09-25 12:25:23 +0000 UTC]

I have 'mastered' the pen tool in photoshop, but it takes forever to make something properly with it since you need to bend and shape and smooth everything. Last year I was going over some pieces of my art and cleaning them up with the pen tool. Took too long. For inking comics it is close to useless, but if you are doing an illustration that will be enlarged onto billboards it is perfect.

Keep nibs dry. They will rust. The maru nibs from Tachikawa are excellent and flexible. American nibs tend to need a small layer of plastic burned off very quickly to work right.

Best ink is Winsor Newton Black Waterproof India ink, for nibs. I think it is a little thick for brushes and Speedball Super Black works better for the brush work. You get two bottles and top off one so you can dip easily without getting dirty or hitting the nib on the bottom, etc. Thin with water as needed, so you balance ink and water as you go, or even use other india inks - sometimes I blend in Super Black.

Tachikawa sounds pretty interesting and famous. I have been using the Nikko brand for a while. I'll buy whenever I get around with a job.

As for ink, I think I'll waste what I have before buying anymore.

HandBack In reply to HiroyValesti [2008-09-25 15:22:13 +0000 UTC]

I use Nikko Maru, and spoon nibs I believe. They are good. I think all those Jap brands are essentially interchangeable. The upside of Jap nibs is that they last a LOT longer due to chrome plating on most nibs. My spoon nib never wears down and my G-nibs last for pages instead of one page. The Marus wear down quick, tho.

It's never too early to get good tools. imagine if a carpenter waited until he built the house to get the right equipment. He'd never get done.

Also, what kind of paper you use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HandBack In reply to HiroyValesti [2008-09-25 21:53:21 +0000 UTC]

I have a giganto stash of Strathmore 2-ply. The specific number isn't in my head, but you can buy it at Michaels by the sheet. It's a cold press 2 ply that is smooth enough for great inking. Everything else I ever purchased since 1999 has utterly SUCKED for inking with nibs.

Paper type is very important. Make sure you keep it clean and free of oils from sweat by putting paper under your hand.

HiroyValesti In reply to HandBack [2008-09-26 02:07:19 +0000 UTC]

Better than Kent or Manga Manuscript paper?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HandBack In reply to HiroyValesti [2008-09-26 02:12:58 +0000 UTC]

I haven't even tried those. Anything that pushes itself as 'manga' supplies on the cover, aside from how to draw manga books from Japan, are an instant sales gimmick. That means in essence it is inferior product shoveled off as something with a catchy name the kidz will buy. Watch it.

Strathmore is a leading paper manufacturer I have trusted for a long time. While they make such a wide variety they still have the best inking 2-ply out there compared to other brands floating around in American art stores. There might be something better still manufactured I haven't run across, but am doubtful. Just make sure to get a tight grain paper with a tight finish so the fibers don't loosen and allow ink to spider out.

HiroyValesti In reply to HandBack [2008-09-27 05:27:53 +0000 UTC]

Right, I'll take your word. It's just I was asking several inking artist that do comics as part of their living. Whenever I get around a job, I'll buy a pack of both (Kent and Strathmore) so I can get the feel.

And sorry for taking up your comments. I get carried away with questions.

Just thought I would throw that to you for consideration, good sir. =]

HandBack In reply to Kikhuana [2008-06-02 04:51:10 +0000 UTC]

RUSSELL CROWE?!?!

....rally? I never heard that, or ever thought that, but we do share brown hair and stubble! I never tried to beat up a hotel clerk while drunk, or got bitched at and slapped down by Sam Raimi's entourage. But I did work in Hollywood.

Your webcam is wonderfully considerate Tokyo, btw. We should all wear those when we get colds and flus, or want to rob banks, appear on Jerry Springer, or make porn, or whatever else we do with masks on.

Kikhuana In reply to HandBack [2008-06-16 03:19:12 +0000 UTC]

Most definitely!

I can also assume you've never hit an employee of a hotel with a telephone, either.

And thank you!
It was actually influenced by one of my all-time favourite groups - Clinic.
Considering that you mentioned you like anything when it comes to music, I really suggest this one. They kind of have a post-punk revival/alternative genre about them.
I recommend their album "Visitations" as a first listen, but thats for you to choose.
Not to mention 'Imeem.com' is an ideal place for music-searching if you ever have trouble finding them, my friend.

HandBack In reply to FargalEX [2008-05-21 22:34:23 +0000 UTC]

PS- keep it fairly short. 2 minutes, maybe 3. No one enjoys long speeches.

HandBack In reply to FargalEX [2008-05-21 22:33:45 +0000 UTC]

YEH! That monkey was puerile. But memorable.

Say something about what motivated you to make the idea. Leave the technical crap off as a final or first sentence or soemthing; done in Flash at 720 x xxx dpi blah blah. Tell a story about what influenced you to do this film's story, or how it relates to you.

LET OUT YOUR SOUL, MAN.

Public speaking isn't difficult if you just jot down what topics want to say in basic order and then act as if you are talking to someone you talk to daily about it. Like, back of the hand in ball point:

• Tech specs
• How it relates to my childhood/life
• What I hope it imparts to an audience

Then end up beat and say good things about others to make people know you are wonderful, like, "Thanks to this school and my teachers for giving me the opportunity to bring my creativity to life."

And then sob hysterically in happiness and thank god, if you aren't reaching them yet.

SLOE. Like Gin.

I am only 2/3rd done the inking of the comic, then want to do another 33+ page addition before publishing as a large compilation book.

Took a break to do this ridiculous art. Figured it would get some response.

I'll post it here. Not sure if books like that get pre-order, but diamond is set to handle me.
In fact, I gotta write her back; she sent me a letter yesterday asking how I was.

This comic is so slow. And the pity is that there is no reason to be slow with it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HandBack In reply to dynamicsketch [2008-05-04 13:45:40 +0000 UTC]

Diamond is the comic book distributor. It is the only comic book distributor in North America/Canada (aside from a couple extremely small venues not worth mentioning). When someone orders a comic book these days it goes through Diamond, who publishes their range of stuff in a giant pictorial catalog monthly named PREVIEWS.
