Awesome! You're welcome ! PhD?! That is cool! I hope it goes well X3! I'm just busy with school and work x.x Not much else going on...besides trying to remember to get on a schedule of uploading art ROFL!

Yeah, I'll be in my 2nd year this September. Exciting stuff, but terrifying how quickly the time is passing by! Haha, I know what you mean. I keep wanting to submit things, but then I half-do stuff and then don't want to post it until it's done. I was working on another character sheet but then I had an idea for a portrait which I ended up not finishing, and decided to put that in the comic...so now I'm drawing out the first few pages with her in it, I'm not sure I need to do the sheet! Down side to that is, I'm not going to be able to submit regular comic pages or anything because it depends on how I feel and I have to write as I go along due to lack of time, so I'm probably going to end up just uploading random pages But I suppose that's better than the nothing I've posted over the last few years !

I know what you mean, time does go by pretty fast! Yeah......I have to wake up earlier and actually work on my drawings more LOL! Aww! That's ok! Post it anyways or whenever you are ready! I'm sure it will be really good X3!

He6o In reply to AliceLocke [2017-09-13 14:13:15 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think I will post some of the full page/double page image pages I'll do in the future. I have a sequence in my script (and mind) that's going to happen where Seb enters some bizarre horror nightmare dream sequence thing - partly a throwback because I used to do a lot of more macabre artwork (by some people's standards) during my anime phase, and because that kind of stuff fits well with my own personal colour scheme (red, black and white). So I think I'll be working on those pages next, as the colouring will be easier if it's in partial black and white (And it'll give me a break from drawing two people run after each other for 8 pages -_-)

So yep. Definitely planning on posting things, even if it's all out of order and makes no sense. XD Most likely I wont post any scripted dialogue pages, because that seems to change every day I work on it! (I'm very much working from my absurdly extensive notes, but still making it up as I go along. Like both versions of a NaNo writer!)

That sounds awesome and exciting! I love bizarre horror nightmare dream sequences ! Yeah, red black and white are good colors XD! I'm excited to see it ! (Lol...I definitely understand XD ...Although I seriously have to get moving on stuff!)

Cool X3! Rofl! Too many ideas? XD (That's alright! You'll figure it out, but I'm sure it is fine XD!)

Ah, yes, I did manage to get the lines for those pages sorted. Although at the rate I keep changing things, I'll be amazed if they stay that way!

Way too many. But also not enough. I think I'm getting idea overload, but it's all jumbled up. Like a 100,000 piece jigsaw -_-

I always look forward to seeing what you draw ! So, sure, it may change, but that's ok! I'm sure it will still look great

He6o In reply to AliceLocke [2019-02-08 15:24:53 +0000 UTC]

LOL and then I answer half a year later.

I may actually post fanart-y things again this year, despite ditching my old fanart account (though I don't regret the decision, tbh). But my obsession with FFXV has gone from 'plays game obsessively' to 'buys all official merch' to 'buys all fanmerch, cosplays and follows a billion people on tumblr/fb/twitter/Ao3' to 'omg, must draw Ignis all the time, because he's so amazing *o*!!!111'. Quite the rapid progression of symptoms XD So I have lots of portrait things going on, and have tentatively been thinking about producing my own charms/pins one day - but I need to be a bit more confident before I'm at that point I think XD

I've been good, I suppose. Lots of work going on from all sides - PhD is moving along, so that's good, but could be better as I'm in 3rd year now and still haven't published any of my work. So this is going to be the most hectic year of all...all the more reason I'm thinking about drawing more now that I have an iPad pro and apple pencil...because I'm going to need to reduce my stress levels from time to time. And it's the kind of backwards logic I subscribe to...'I don't have enough hours in the day...I know, let's learn how to do something else, or start an art project!' In the last year or so mostly my art projects have been restricted to cosplaying, so I do have a few things I need to do on that front too, as I'm hoping to go to the next Kupocon (Final fantasy con) in London this year, so I'll need to have improved my costume and acquired a second one for the evening (make or buy depending on how mad my life becomes in the next 3 months). I went with a friend to their Birmingham con and it was *amazing*, so I definitely want to go again, especially now that my Ignis costume has been significantly improved (and hopefully I can sand and paint my 3d-printed daggers before then too ). Otherwise there's not a lot going on, I suppose. How about you? Anything new in the last 6 months?

Hey! Yeah, long time no speak. I've been ridiculously busy with university work, and then PhD applications, and now my dissertation. It's all been such a nightmare! I almost can't wait until graduation so I can do some artwork again

Things are going pretty well thus far - one assignment down, 7000/10000 words done on my project report - so that's something. I just wish my reference software would stop glitching up!

How have things been with you lately?

Wow! That sounds like a lot.  I just finished my dissertation so I can relate.

I am just finishing my degree at Herts Uni and am now looking for work for when I finish.  This journey has not been an easy one but it's had a lot of good times as well as a lot of bad ones.  I am writing to loads of creative companies to gain some kind of work placement so hopefully this will turn up something.

Aside de from all that I am doing pretty well and just about to move to the Fenlands, which will be a breath of fresh air.

He6o In reply to PeterStringer [2016-05-17 08:17:50 +0000 UTC]

Haha! I just handed mine in at 4.30am on Monday - 10,600 words, thereabouts. (Then spent the rest of the day cleaning everything in the house, because we've been having work done in the bathroom and now there's a thick layer of dust on all of my 1/6 scale figures )

Oh wow, that's great - and of course, the most rewarding to complete are the journeys that are hardest. God knows I've not had an easy time getting a degree! So many transfers and so much indecision on my part! I think I'm just one of those people who never knows what they want to do, and just kind of drifts along. The only certainties are that I wanted to do a PhD and I wanted it to be in astrophysics (which I am really excited about starting in September). Otherwise my future plans change as frequently as my wardrobe style

I'm happy that things are looking up for you though (And excuse my ridiculous response times - I wont be vanishing for years again! Just having my usual 'internet blackout' periods where my brain is possessed by the fear of unfinished assignments . Thankfully the next deliverable hand in (for *everything else*) is June 3rd, so the fear hasn't hit yet.

Yikes that is a lot of writing, my dissertation was only 4000 words and that was hard enough.  It's fair to say I'm not a writing person but I still aim to get better at it .  Ah nuts, having work done in either the bathroom or bedroom sucks cuts they're the most personal rooms in the house, the next being the living room.

I completely agree.  I don't mean to sound like an attention seeker or anything but nothing has been easy the last 18 years but things have got a lot better the last year.  Yea, that sounds like a tough journey for you but you have made it!  I think we have both had a real time of it at university but it's good to have someone I can relate to.  True for me also, I just want to do a bit of everything but be really good at it.

thank you that is kind to say, I am glad for you also .  I have no more hand ins for uni so I'm really happy...but I do have assignments for my online animation course though that's another story.  I know right, hand ins make people like us so anxious but it keeps us on our toes, which is a good thing I'd say .

He6o In reply to PeterStringer [2016-06-15 14:09:02 +0000 UTC]

Yeah - but I think my dissertation was nothing compared to the final weeks of uni I just finished! 9,000 word assignment on Complex Systems, 2500 word essay on the same (I did about 1,900?), and two 15 page assignments involving coding and writing up about fractals. Madness! Add to that, I had to do my dissertation defence/viva the same week I was doing all my assignments XD I ended up pulling a 48 hour work session which resulted in me getting everything done, but being really out of sorts for a long time, trying to get over the lack of sleep. Of course, the last week I spent helping out with things around the house because I wasn't quite with it enough to do much else anyway XD It's been a long time since I had such a weird sleep pattern! Now it's over, I've been playing FFX, reliving my childhood (with the added bonus of trophies XD)

Yeah I can honestly say I'm looking forward to graduation day next month, to see the end of my undergraduate life. I've loved Natural Sciences and the people I've worked with, but I think I'm feeling like I've spent far too many years as an undergraduate. It'll be nice to be a postgrad, at least. And to graduate completely from that (be it with a PhD or MPhil) before I'm 30 XD!

It definitely is nice to see the back of assignments to hand in. But I do agree - it's really nice to have that feeling of accomplishment when they're in, and they do serve as rather useful milestones to keep you working. Although it will be strange not thinking of time in terms of my deliverable hand-in days!

PeterStringer In reply to He6o [2016-06-15 20:22:15 +0000 UTC]

Yikes!  That is a lot of writing to have done.  I did a 4000 word dissertation and that took it out of me but I did get an overall 60% for the module and I finished with a 64 mark for the overall course, which means a 2:1 for me .  I could never work for 48 hours straight, that would most likely kill me.  House work is always good for me as it takes my mind off things until I go back to work on design and animation stuff.

Me too!  My graduation is in September but I'm looking forward to it.  I have spent 5 stinking years getting my degree and ain't no one gonna take it away from me!  I hope your graduation is awesome too.  I think we have both gone through a ton of shit to achieve our goals and we should enjoy the moment .

I know right!  I am going crazy with no deadlines to meet.  I am right now applying for design jobs.  If...when! When I get a design job having deadlines again will be much welcomed .  I am doing some storyboarding work for practice and that seems to keep me content.

Aaaanyway...that's me, how are things on your end?

He6o In reply to PeterStringer [2016-07-11 14:31:53 +0000 UTC]

I've done 48 hours a couple of times (I think on average maybe once a year? Except in Years 1 and 2 that was due to exam stress, not assignments). Oh- house work. Well, if you can call what I do, that, is awesome. I am in a constant state of bedroom tetris. In fact, yesterday I realised that the black furniture in my room made an l shape and the white the |_ shape -_- Closet tetris addict, y/y? Anyhow - congrats on your 2:1! I was able to get a 76% this year, so that averaged to a 1st class degree, which is great - It would have sucked to have had a 1st in 3rd year, then done the extra year, failed and dropped a grade...so I'm glad that didn't happen. Graduating this Friday, and I'll be glad for that to be over. I keep fearing I'm going to trip on stage...which is terrifying. I wish they didn't have a strict shoe-dress code that was also deliberately vague, as I'd rather show up without heels...but looks like I will have to, even if its a small heel.

Yeah, I'll be glad to put the last 6 years of being an undergrad behind me. I actually had an email from my department head asking if I'd be interested in doing some teaching-type stuff for undergrads next year, so that'll be cool if they need me to be a lab demonstrator or something while I'm doing my PhD.

Haha - I can't tell if I love or hate deadlines, really. I like the order in my life...but whenever I'm in charge of something and I set a deadline, it seems like nobody listens to it! I've been waiting on the I-Sci newsletter stuff for a few months now, and have resigned myself to admitting to my department head that it's not going to happen -_- Next year I think I need to be stricter, and definitely set up the "we will work from x time to y time in room z, until your articles are done :shakefist" rule. Letting people have time to do something just leads to procrastination, apparently - and it's not even like it's something that takes a long time to do!

Anyhow, with me? Just preparing for Friday, playing some FFX-2 and reorganising my room to make room for an added dressing table used as a desk at the end of my bed. I don't know if it's the influence of all the posters and statues in my room, but I really want to do some hobbit movie sketches - and I have a spare A4 and A3 moleskine, so I may devote them to that over the next few months. Ah - and I planted some acorns last year (they were hell to grow - had to be watered and kept in the fridge for like, a month...). I planted about 8-10 or so, because apparently a lot of them can be faulty or damaged...but they took so long to grow, I put them outside as a last resort and sort of forgot about them since January. We were gardening yesterday and found that they'd all grown, so now I have a little oak tree sprout to befriend my elm bonsai when I'm not around. <3 A good week, for sure.

Yikes!  Having a bedroom that reminds of Tetris must be frustrating sometimes.  I used to have a room like that when I was younger but I'm way to OCD to do that now .  Man, that is amazing you got a 1st, congrats on that for sure.  Even if I trip on stage I won't care as I most likely won't see those people again and only a handful I give two craps about.

Wow that is a great opportunity for you to have whilst studying for a doctorate.  I would love to do some teaching in animation but it's all about experience in a lot of ways and I have precious little of that .

Having some work to do and have a deadline keeps you busy and on your toes but as you say it can be somewhat frustrating.  I think I have a habit for procrastinating, which never helps.

I used to love growing things as a kid, I suppose my dad was a big influence as he grows his own vegetables.  I did have a conker tree but it sort of died over time...I should try that again sometime.

Sorry for the epically long reply time but I have been doing lots of work and applying for jobs.

He6o In reply to PeterStringer [2016-08-09 23:12:54 +0000 UTC]

The biggest problem with a tetrisy bedroom is the spiders. When they emerge like they did on Friday and Saturday they seem to stick to the edges of a room, and like all good Tetris strategies, the edges are always filled with blocks (or furniture, in this case ). Leads to unavoidable screaming. But I guess I must have the inverse of OCD tendencies, because I can't imagine not constantly changing things. Perhaps I should be worried when I eventually become a homeowner

Thanks! The ceremony was pretty cool, in a weird ritualistic way. And my shoes were agonising despite normally being the most comfortable heels I have Clearly my feet are just not designed for elevation. A friend of mine showed one of the others a clip of me walking, actually, because the whole thing was live-streamed apparently. I didn't trip, but I ended up looking like the grimmest person to ever accept a degree, because I was so worried about messing it up, I didn't even smile

Yeah, it's pretty cool - I just hope the course I have to do beforehand doesn't clash with the astrophysics summer school I have to go to in early Sept (or the camping trip the other graduates have planned!). And I'd love to know if procrastination scales in proportion to creativity, because I swear, with all the people I've spoken to on here, and seeing how much people at uni seem to get done, I would be shocked if there isn't one! I know I'm absolutely terrible when it comes to not procrastinating.

Chestnut trees? I was going to grow one of those, but then I learnt that they were only introduced to the UK in the 1600s or so, and I decided I would be better off growing a not-imported species. Hence the oaks. My poor little sapling actually just experienced an aphid infestation, which was rather annoying. I had to sit and hunt down every last one with q-tips. That, and they had produced a really sticky, transparent 'honeydew' which is how I discovered them, and it was all over my window XD Ridiculous. Anyway, I think that was a crisis narrowly avoided...but it made me think about the future of my tree. It seems wrong to turn an oak into a bonsai, but I don't want to give up my tree and plant it in the wild. I'm sort of yo-yoing with the idea, because to be honest, if I hadn't come along and collected them, those acorns would have either have been squirrel food, or would never have germinated, being so close to the parent tree. I guess I'll have to decide in a couple of years

And no worries about epic reply times - I'm the same way, and I don't have an excuse! (Unless one would count the aforementioned procrastinating? XD)

PeterStringer In reply to He6o [2016-08-22 09:10:32 +0000 UTC]

Spiders are the worst!  Not the little guys but the big ones that run really fast.  I am kinda the opposite as I like things just the way they are.  Man, being a homeowner and having a mortgage and all that scares the crap outta me but I think that's a way off yet.

I think everyone is nervous during those events even if they don't show it.  To be honest I just want to get the whole thing over and done with and be on my way, the reason being I was not treated very well at university by a majority of the teachers and most of the students.  I can't believe they still have that school room attitude at that age.

Wow that sounds like a lot!  The astrophysics summer school in particular sounds amazing. Camping can be nice in the summer but in the winter it is terrible especially with tents that let rain water in .  Man, I procrastinate so much sometimes but others I work like a train, must be the mood I'm in at the time.

That sounds like a fun project, growing an oak tree.  I would love to grow a tree of my own so I can say when I'm like 70 odd that I helped make it possible or something like that

He6o In reply to PeterStringer [2016-09-12 21:15:57 +0000 UTC]

Ah - we found one of those the other day in the living room. It ran near me while I was sketching I believe I've had maximum exposure to spiders in the last few weeks - the room I was in when I went to an astrophysics summer school the other week was full of them

Haha - I kind of look forward to owning my own house. My only issue, is I want it to be perfect and wouldn't want to invest time in decorating or caring about a house that was too small, unless I was planning to sell it - but then I'd just end up doing it ultra-neutral. Unfortunately my plan to be able to afford a dream house will likely involve buying and selling property, so it's something I'm going to have to get used to.

Yeah, I agree that everyone is probably nervous - at least when you're on the stage, anyhow. I was a-ok until all of my friends had walked to the other side of the stage and I was the next one up. Then I was sort of freaking out. Wow, really? Strangely enough I find people at my university to be incredibly nice, although I'm wondering if maybe I'm just lucky. At the summer school there were a lot of very nice people, but every so often there would be a few who had already made their little clique and would only really talk to you because you were left alone with them on a table. I found some people to be rude in that way (more or less brushing you off when their friends show up), but not openly hostile or anything. Although I have also had a continuous impression from many people I've met that some people at Oxbridge are rather too haughty for my tastes (definitely not all, as I know quite a few lovely people doing their PhDs there!). Maybe it's just that universities like that can occasionally attract people who wish to go there for all the wrong reasons. I mean, when I was looking for PhDs I found their ones involving astrophysics not at all to my tastes - I didn't even waste my time applying, as there was nothing of interest to me. But yeah, I'm surprised that some people can be like that, although there are jerks everywhere I suppose. I know I've overheard a couple of PhDs whining about undergraduates as if they are better and were never one themselves - that irritates me, as they certainly shouldn't be teaching anyone with an attitude like that (I'd have to question their dedication if they did), and they shouldn't be voicing their opinions in public (literally, in the foyer) if they don't have anything constructive to say about other people. Part of learning is teaching other people - and while I often complained about the childishness of people at high school, I find that the students at my university aren't like them - their comments just seemed unwarranted and very rude, considering an undergraduate (me) was doing work right across from them at the time!

Haha - we didn't end up camping in the end. I think it cut too close to a lot of people's other plans of moving on to start new jobs/PhDs and such. Likely we'll arrange it some other time - maybe when the weather is expected to be consistently nice next year. If we'd gone as planned this time we would have been soaked XD! I'm glad the weather seems to be picking up again, despite that being sort of weird for mid-September.

Yeah. I have an apple tree now too XD I had grown three oaks, but gave one to a friend of my brother's, and he sent an apple sapling in return. And now I hear that a maple tree has spontaneously grown at work and might need to be repotted. It appears that trees are rather like money (as opposed to that saying about money growing on them) - once you have one, you will accumulate a lot more! XD

Yikes, that room sounds scary.  I can't sleep at night knowing there are huge spiders in my room.

No worries, my dad did that, buying houses and doing them up only to sell them on to make profit. We actually went through that process for about 20 years until we lived in our last house for 10 years and now we've been in North Cambridgeshire for the last 3 months.

You're right there, there are jerks everywhere but fortunately there are also nice people everywhere as well.  I do sometimes think college kids are silly in that way as a great many of the, I've met don't really care about college but rather going there instead of getting a job. I prefer college kids that are really serious about their studies but that's just me.

I absolutely cringe when I think of camping as a kid, leaky tents and crappy bathroom facilities and constant moaning. .  Hopefully you can rearrange when the weather gets better .

That sounds great!  I definitely want to start growing stuff as well, especially now we're living in a new house and still have a greenhouse.

It was an ordeal...but I believe if I had to complain, it would involve walking a very long way across to the secretary area, with feet that were killing me (because I'd walked for 2 hours, from the station to the uni, in heels, like an idiot). I think I decided that spiders were a small price to pay for not being in pain XD Besides, a baby one was above me, but the bigger ones were near the door area, far away from me (thankfully). If it had been a room the size of my own at home, I would have not slept, then requested a new room I think

Seems like the quickest way to obtain money without the risk of 'gambling' with the stock market. And after seeing how people selling affected our country, I'm not entirely sure how 'clean' I'd feel, ethically, if I took part in the economic process. Money has to come from somewhere, after all, and I'd hate to think that my profits were the result of someone's business closing down, or job losses. I'd feel morally obliged to give the money back I mean, I suppose buying houses works in the same way - except in this case, the losers are estate agents and people silly enough (and rich enough) to buy houses at a premium rate. In which case, well, I will feel no guilt.

I wonder if some of the people here are like that, but nobody has ever voiced it to me I wouldn't think very highly of them if they did, because I'm not somebody that automatically equates having an undergraduate degree as enabling someone to be 'better' than someone without. Many people just aren't into the whole academic system and find it not to their learning style, which I can understand, as traditional lecture-based learning wasn't to mine either, despite me loving the learning environment of academia. Personally, I felt no different after getting my MSci diploma, and I'll probably feel very little difference after I graduate with a PhD (hopefully not an MPhil). I suppose some people still don't really know what to do with their lives, but that's what a gap year is for. 'I didn't know what else to do' isn't really a good reason to invite so much debt That, and it more than likely means they'll do a degree in something they don't care about, or will drop out half way through and never complete it. They would have been better off getting a job for 2 years and then making a decision later than acquiring 2 years of debt, only to then quit and do something else.

LOL! I liked the camping experience, but wasn't a fan of the circumstances in which I did it, as I went with an outdoor activities 'summer camp' and all of the other kids were evil and the spawn of satan. I was more bullied there than I was at school, which is saying something. That place was kind of terrible anyway. They made me go on a canoe with an instructor since I can't swim, and he would rock the boat and such, teasing me. Not exactly funny, when I nearly drowned twice as a child and have a phobia of large bodies of water. That, and I also had to go in a kayak. I mean, that was kind of fun, because the people that stayed close to me that time didn't mess around and I was in control, but I still shouldn't have *had* to do things I wasn't comfortable with. It was a summer camp, not boot camp. Clearly it was run by a bunch of people who hated children, because I'm not fond of them and even I wouldn't have made a kid go into a river if they didn't want to

Yeah, trees are great <3 I'm thinking of getting a flowering bonsai next year, as mine seems to be doing excellent and I might be worthy of something more challenging. I suppose I will see how well my elm does for a little longer before I commit to another, as it's a lot of emotional and financial upheaval if I end up murdering a poor little bonsai tree out of ignorance.

I don't mind the itty bitty spiders as they are quite cute but that cuteness goes away when they gigantic.  Uni rooms are not glamorous it has to be said but they are a roof over your head all the same.

You're totally right there!  I would not feel bad at all about the mega rich being on the receiving end of a bad deal for once, they make their money from the poor.  Mostly the poor.  The stock market is a place where you need to be on your toes, my boss at my new job used to work in the stock market and it is a lot of pressure.

I don't think I'm better than others for having a degree, I lack a lot of common sense and I find learning hard plus I'm only good at one thing and I'm still learning that as we speak.  I agree, going to uni just because you don't know what else to do is a tad silly, you get into a ton of debt and you may not get a career out of the course you take.

Those dudes sound like major douches and I would probably have told them what I thought had a been there, which is saying something as I usually avoid confrontation like the plague.

Sounds like you're really into gardening, I wish I was more into that line of things.

Yeah. I'd also be a fair bit worried about the risk of mistakes in a stock market job being misconstrued as criminal behaviour. I mean, when you're dealing with millions each day, you failing at your job for a day might be misinterpreted or something. I'd just rather avoid anything that involved high stakes and money. Too much like gambling.

Me too! On the common sense front, I sometimes say and do really stupid things. I'm sure most 'intellectuals' probably do, to be honest. And we're all in a perpetual state of learning. I wouldn't want to be at a point where there was nothing more for me to learn - because that would mean that I've closed myself off to the idea of learning and become arrogant. And in my experience, people who claim that they're 'experts' and 'don't need to learn anymore', usually know a lot less than they think they do.

Yeah - adult-me would have torn them to pieces, but unfortunately, child-me couldn't really do anything about it. But at least I learnt a valuable life-lesson, that adults aren't necessarily worth my respect just because they're older than me, as some of them are idiots.

I love indoor plants, but I try to avoid the outside ones. Too many insects. I just bought myself an orchid, actually, so I'll see if I can look after that before tackling a flowering bonsai, as I hear that orchids are difficult to care for.

Yea that is true.  I quit my job as my boss was the biggest a****ole I've ever worked for!  He treated me like crap, paid me below minimum wage and had his girlfriend as his head of HR so no one could touch him!  I'm glad I quit and it was a good thing because I work freelance for a company in LA and they are so nice!

I completely agree, if we stopped learning life would be dull and without excitement or at least that's how I imagine it.  I think learning every day makes life more enjoyable and full of surprises.

That is so true!  Age doesn't necessarily mean wisdom and experience.  I respect some kids more than adults as they have more sense, better manners and are morally more respectful.  People like my former boss are worthy of no one's respect!

That sounds great! I love plants especially rubber plants and Venus fly traps.  I hope your orchid grows well.

Wow, that sucks. That your boss was a jerk (and the girlfriend nepotism going on there)...but great that you've found a better job elsewhere! Congrats!

Definitely - It's always surprising to me how many people seem to become bitter and negative towards others of either younger age or lesser 'educational background' as they climb the ladder. It's a bit strange. I mean, I will admit that I'm not exactly thrilled if I'm left in a room full of children (I think teaching at a primary school would be my idea of hell), but I always wonder if one of them might be like I was as a kid - often frustrated with the dim-witted people surrounding me of similar age, and equally so by the adults who looked at me and just saw 'a kid'. Last thing I'd want to do is treat someone like that and become part of what used to annoy me so much when I was younger.

My orchid has been doing well, until last week? Suddenly the branches/stems have turned rather brown. 0_o I'm not entirely sure what's going on, if it's normal or not. Might require investigation. Something tells me I should not be allowed to take care of plants. Even when I do everything right on a routine something happens -_-

Why thank you!  Yep, my job as a freelancer was great but now I work as a marketing assistant at The Welding Institute and it is really nice though I'm not as valued as I was at my previous job.

Well there are good and bad in all sorts so I just look for people that are nice though that can be very hard.

Ooo that sounds great!  I still am waiting to start growing something myself but I travel around 2 1/2-3 hours a day to get to and from work so maybe not at the moment.

That's pretty cool. What kind of stuff do you do as a marketing assistant? I often wonder what I'll end up doing in future years if academia isn't a viable option. I can't imagine not being able to do science

Yeah, good point.

My poor plants. The orchid is still alive though at least - I noticed it was growing a root out towards the bottle of water I use to water my tree XD. Picked up a lot of acorns today while I was out in the woods, too, so I'll be growing more oak trees soon. It's a bit early for them though, so I was kind of surprised to see so many of them

First off sorry for the epically long response time.  Time flies when you're up to your neck in work.

I do everything from updating content and LinkedIn research to Photoshopping images and drawing illustrations for different departments though last one is rarity but very enjoyable.

Wow it sounds like the plant can sense water around it...or is it more coincidence that the root grew in that direction?  Man, I'd love to grow an oak tree.  I'd never be able to see it fully grown in my lifetime but it would be a neat project to undertake on the side.

Hey no, I know what that's like. Especially when everything sort of builds up and overwhelms you at once. I'm in a bit of that now as I've just been ill for a week and could barely look at my laptop, let alone do astronomy stuff >:

Oh that's pretty cool Sounds kind of like what I'm doing for my parent's business, only with more actual art being done

I have a feeling that they can detect moisture even through solid materials - or at least, that's something I heard. I don't know how true it is that it would know there was water in a plastic bottle, but it wouldn't surprise me. Yeah, I have one surviving oak from a year ago that's doing quite nicely When it's old enough (maybe when I finish my PhD) I'll have to plant it out - I think there are tree planting events in the county where you can do that with any trees you've grown for conservation purposes. I can't really plant them at home - our garden isn't big enough. One day in the future, when I'm gone, someone might move in and chop it down because it's too big. I can't have that. >: At the least, I can try to prevent it

Yep it was cool but that contract is over now and I'm looking for my next venture.

I would love to go to one of those planting events as I love conservation and general plant growing activities. I would love it if you could upload some of the conservation stuff you do like photos of plants from different stages of their growth and such.

Yeah, me too. Trees are amazing, in particular. <3 When I was in Chicago most of the photos I took were of trees. LOL I didn't have a single picture of myself in there!
