I can't put in a direct link to my gallery there sorry. DeviantART seems to put an emoticon right in the middle of the url which renders it useless.
If you wanted to do a search for my gallery there then I'm registered under the nicname Belles.
I do have a lot of them at this link as well.

Let me know if it doesn't work.

WoW! You haven't been in here in quite awhile, at least from your last journal posting.
I have been poking around in your gallery, I'm still amazed at how good you are at this drawing stuff.

wow! hi there! im studying printmaking in nz, and i found you through your article. it's so nice to find people in nz who teach/learn printmaking in a school (im assuming college?), because i haven't heard of any college other than my own do it. >< this may just mean i don't get out much, but heh, it's still a good surprise to find you on dA!

Yes I teach in a NZ High School in a small town in the south island.
What year level are you and what general area are you in -- you don't have to tell me but would be interested to know which school your at.
I know some specialist printmaking teachers in CHCH do offer printmaking at the senior school level.
I am trying to introduce more printmaking into all my levels at school. We have year 7 and 8 as well and I don't have enough time with them to do any but from year 9 onwards I do some form of printmaking.
I have not offered it at years 12 or 13 for a while but am considering that for future.
I have a design background and did a lot of printmaking in my training.

Im learning AS printmaking in central auckland, and it's really fun. That's really good to have it in christchurch, seems like a south island kind of thing! are they teaching NCEA levels? as part of a painting course? my school uses CIE so i didn't know that NCEA had it as a subject.

HelenParkinson In reply to chopstyx [2008-09-27 07:05:44 +0000 UTC]
It can be done as a specialist discipline at year 12 (Level 2 NCEA) and the same at year 13 (Level 3 NCEA) At these levels it can be done as a subject in its own right although if I was to offer it at year 12 it would be intergrated into a painting course I think. I do some individual peices for folio and us mono print as a wet media drawing in internals for level 1 NCEA.
Whats CIE stand for and you also lost me with AS - probably will know when you tell me but drawn a blank right now. Acronyms can be confusing at times there are so many of them used now days.

haha yeah, it's the cambridge international exams, AS is the equivalent to level 2 NCEA. I guess if you're not doing it, it can be a bit 'wth!, i forget that most do NCEA. so hmm, that's still only my school doing CIE printmaking that i know of...

Its quite interesting to know how other systems work.
How does it get assessed? Do you have to do a folio, does anything have to be sent away for assessment? Sorry lots of questions.

chopstyx In reply to HelenParkinson [2008-09-27 10:23:54 +0000 UTC]
oh no that's fine! umm we have coursework (4 boards or 3 boards and a final) and then an exam (2 boards and a final).. A2 has i think 5 or 6 (maybe more) boards, a final, and a related study, but i haven't seen any work done by A2 print students, there weren't any this year. A2 is equivalent to NCEA level 3, i think. the examiners come from england to assess, but for countries closer to england they get sent to cambridge.

What size are the boards?
I would be interested to see some of your work when its done if you can.
Do you have any of your print work in your gallery or can you not put it in there if its for exams maybe?

chopstyx In reply to HelenParkinson [2008-09-27 11:20:51 +0000 UTC]
they are A2, i think... maybe A1... im not sure XD i think it's more likely A1, and yes i do have some prints here but i haven't uploaded any for a while, (apart from some lithosketches) these are from earlier in the year. i think i have gotten better at etching since!
