Ah, I get you know.

I have run into so many people who are outright haters of anything having to do with using an animal for anything.

I do agree that using the pelt purely for taxidermy and not using the rest of the animal for anything is evil. But on the other hand, if I were an animal I would much rather have a life where I have food all the time and I don't have to worry about a bear or a car killing me.
I know not all fur farms are like this, but there are several states in the US that have passes laws regulating how the animals are to be treated and how they are to be killed. Sadly, groups like PETA keep showing the old movies on how the animals were treated.
Your right though, somethings you cannot help but look at, because it is there. But at least on DA you have a choice. If you see it in a thumbnail, and it appears to be a photo of a live animal, cool. That is what taxidermy is ment for- to make you think the animal is alive, or give the impression of it at least.

Nearly all of the meat I eat is localy farmed, or is farmed by myself. I raised sheep as a child, so I love to eat lamb. Yes, they were killed at a young age, but we didn't kill ever single one either. My beef comes from cows that I raised as well. Chicken I'm iffy on, noone around here raises it for food, but they do have local eggs at least.
Egg production lines scare me.

Yay for someone else who doesn't believe in the bible! I threw that in there because alot of people, it seems, who don't like taxidermy belive in the bible.

OH! I also sculpt animals----

I have to disagree
We have jails where you get tv, own bed and food everyday, while so many ppl ale homeless and die from starvation.
Why can't they commit a crime and spend the rest of their lives laying on bed and watching desperate house wives?
Because freedom is the most important thing in our life . Sick people who can't move their body beg for euthanasia because they lost their freedom to go whenever they like. Living in a 2x2 room forever is not a life.
That's why i understand PETA also when they put to sleep so many animals.
Death by injection is not painful in comparison to spending your life unwanted and forgotten by people.

and ps: Yeah I think I rather Your sculptures than plushes I know you'll understand

What about when PETA went to a shelter in NewYork who was going to send some pits to a nice retirement center? These PETA memebers, with orders from higher up, claimed they would bring the dogs there themselves, and save the shelter some money. The shelter of course agreed. These memebers then, on orders, brought these dogs out to their van, and euthanazied them, dumping them in a trash bin after they were done.

There was a PETA memeber in my area who decided she was going to kill some angora rabbits and spray paint them red, and leave a note saying "these rabbits are better off dead, than being killed for their fur." After finding out that angora rabbits are shaved for their fur, all she had to say was "oh, I'm sorry." These rabbits were kept in oversized cages, in a shed that was locked at night to keep predators out, and they even had a heater for the winter.

PETA also kills animals that come in with broken legs that can be fixed, they just do not want to spend the money on it. They target small childern with adds such as the "UN-Happy Meal" featureing a murderous Ronald McDonald and comes with a bloodly knife, and images of dead chickens. Its a chicken! The "Sea Kittens" campainge is disturbing in its own right. I love fish! If I could keep them, I would. But I also love to eat them. I do see where they are coming from, but the right to chose if you want to eat meat or not is your choice, not some orginizations right to demand you be a vegitarian. Look in our mouths, we have canies in our mouths for eating meat.

Just as a note: I have only done one soft mount, the furs are expensive XD

I searched over the net when You said that Peta kills and found only about putting to sleep. I don't live in America so my only source of information are media which in this case failed > I am very sorry to hear what You said.Once again world i a terrible place
It was much easier believing that there are people like Peta and ALF who at least do something but now it seems just nother lie to raise more money on animals.
So what now?

Support the SPCA, or your local animal shelter. At least in those cases you will be helping the animal directly. Or better yet, support the World Wildlife Fund-- I know these are not domesticated animals, but in my view alot of people tend to forget about the wild animals and concentrate only on the domesticated ones.

Yes, PETA puts animals to sleep; and that is OK, but only when there is no other choice. If the animal just has a broken leg, that can be fixed, there is no reason to put it down. Nor it there reason to kill a PitBull just because it is a Pit. My cousin has 3 pits, with kids all under 4, and the pits are as loving as any beagle.

Sadly the world has become a terrible place, but we must be the change we wish to see. Spread the word about the truth of things, be it PETA, or be it just how a shirt is made, knowledge is power and we need to spread that knowledge.

okki dokki, i just wanted to give you some facts about the USA's Wildlife, I Donate to the wwf, I have a zoo rite down the street and i go weekly and donate at least 20$ to save the tigers there, Well anyways.... Without hunting there would be NO place for animals to live. Its the hunters that pay all the money, millions of dollars a year to keep the rivers clean and keep forests from being chopped to bits. Hunters like there own chunk of land to hunt on, They buy Acres and acres of land just to hunt on for themselves, This prevents all the animals from dying because that land will stay wild.

And now on foxes and coyotes.... In america Coyotes are a pest. There are to many to sustain a healthy ecosystem, They eat all the rabbits, squirrels, Deer , Anything they can catch until there is nothing left. These animals live behind my house even and sit and wait for me to let my cat outside (which i will not be doing anymore lol) They have turned to pets, and the next step is small children. In texas rite now you get paid 200$ to kill ONE coyote... Thats ALOT of money. They cut the right ear off of the coyote and leave them to rott, so i have been asking these people to give me the skins and bones so that i can use them for something. They are pests in everyones eyes here.

Foxes are the same scenario, There are to many to support them, so humans step in. Foxes aren't even a native species to america, so they really hurt the eco system. They where brought here by boat from england, so that people could do there hunts they loved so much, therefore we do need to keep them in check so that they don't hurt native wildlife. Most people who do not like my work are from countries that no nothing about america or have ever been here. I am a native american indian, Mohegan. When i get an animal i use every bit of it, i even go road kill searching and use what i can.

And now the issue on ranched foxes. I am not against it. Here in america foxes are used for dog food, Peta wants the dogs ALL dead so that no more foxes are killed, Foxes are just like chickens or cows, Except the foxes live very nice lives, Some live to be 7 years old before they are killed, An average foxes life in the wild is a little over that. These guys who keep foxes need to take very good care of there animals, If they did not they would not have nice fur, which means a loss of profit.

Peta also pays people to skin animals alive. The chinese are not very humane, Its just how they where brought up, but skinning an animal alive is not productive, it struggles and could hurt the person skinning it. Peta paid a poor chinese man money, so that they could tape record him doing this. Alot of things people here have nothing to do with the usa, but with other countries. I only buy USA fur, never china as they are cruel to some animals there.

Sorry about the long message, i just wanted to share with you some facts, i was once a vegetarian and believed in peta. Untill i started to do research and learned fur is not bad, infact fur lasts 100 years, and is a renewable resource, Faux fur is made of plastic, the waste is then dumped into streams which in turn kills many more animals than just the fox.

Thanks for reading

That page was made by PETA.

Regardless of the reasoning behind it, I support animal testing. I have had to take certification tests for animal testing myself. I am authorized to do the testing actually. There are many many regulations and laws you must go though to even use a roach, let alone a dog or cat. The absolute hardest animal to test on is a Chimp; due to being so similar to humans.

Eh...I'm all for horses, and I love the idea that there is an organization out there who wants to save them, but what about the horses raised to be killed? There is no way of saying that and it not coming out weird, I'm sorry. I love horses! I really do, but I have never heard of VIVA, and the only thing I can think of horses being slaughtered for is glue factories. I thought horse hooves weren't used in glue anymore. Is it horses that are retired from racing?

Sorry you have no SPCA.

Completely off topic-- Is Poland really as cold as I am told? I heard it snows there year round.

Some horses are sold to slaughterhouse after they lost a race for example. Here we don't have any horses farms - we don't eat them because we share a long history with these animals and most people just wouldn't think of eating them.
But we sell them to Italy Italian believes that "dry" meat is better and horses often deprived of water for the 30 hours of journey. VIVA is against selling alive horses to Italy but the only thing they can do is buy them and search for a new home for them.
We don't have many animal's right's organization here - I would rather not to donate a faux one so I support VIVA.
About animal tests I'm against all tests for "cosmetics" purpose. I understand people will not change and will be using animals forever (which is unfair but unstoppable) but using their life for this mere issue><. We have other methods and I will stick to that.
But about that website I was wondering whether it is a manipulation from PETA side or not, but I decided to share with You.

Now in my country is Autumn :< It's wet and cold. But we have 4 seasons ^^
Near march temperatures start to rise from about 5 C to even 30 C in September and then is only colder. We reached -20C near january last year.

I have never heard of the dry meat thing before, but it reminds of this one person who showed sheep at the shows I went to as a kid. He would deny his sheep water for a few days before the show, and put salt in their food. When the show came around he would give them all the water they wanted. He did this so the sheep would weigh more. Sad, really sad. All so he could win the show.
I would try horse meat if I could, but that is just me. I will try anything once, if I dont like it I don't have to eat it again (as with sea urchin and canalope yick!) But I agree, eating horse is a little ...different. If I ever do try horse, I will make sure I know if it is so called "dry" meat or not. Thank you for the information.

I don't understand why cosmetic animal testing is still done. We already know what can and cannot be used on humans, so why continue to test on the animals, use humans instead. As for the medical side of it, I would much rather have animals used for testing than a human. If 300+ rats die in the process of looking for the cure for cancer, it is much better than 300+ humans, right? Ok, so we are animals to, and we actually have no reason whatsoever to be so concerned with our species as we are, but still.

Website...bleh...

Your summer temps sound about the same for where I am, but the winters sound much worse. Though, I would love for it to get cold enough to give us a decent snow. I used to live in Michigan, and the winters were around -20C or so (-4F~-10F). Where I am now though, the worst we get is around -6C (20F)
