# About me
I'm a shameless gamer from New Zealand.I love to draw, write and sew, though most folks on here put my meager drawing skills to shame, but I won't let that stop me! Sometimes I turn out something good, but mostly it's just line art. Meh!

Weird for me to be the next comment AND have the same message, but happy birthday! Again!
I've been re-reading Shout of the Word-Eater (finally), and it's as good as I remember it. Maybe even better now that I know a lot more about TES lore!

Trying to remember but forgetting all the time, hope that the birthday you've got listed on dA is the real one! Even if it's not, I suppose I can wish for it to be happy and still have the feeling there, yeah?
Happy birthday! (Maybe)

All right, I think. Took a trip to the Southwest, figured some things out about whatever's been going on in my life.
Always weird, how slow things get around summer time here. Been sitting on a writer's block the size of Sirius A, so nothing's been getting done.
I have, however, been practicing more in... drawn art? I mean, I'm just using a pencil and college ruled paper, so it's nothing fancy.
Always good to hear from a friend.

Glad things are getting better for you I know what the writier's block can be like. I'm contending with my own laziness. That seems the size of Arcturus XD . I'd like to some of you drawings Nothing wrong with ruled paper, it's a good place to just doodle.

Perhaps at one point. I might just start staying up late enough so that, when I'm tired out of my skull,
I'll be sleep-dumb enough to post some of what I have in the backlog. There's plenty down there.

Well with the summer finally here. I'll have a lot more time on my hands so I will finally be able start writing my story. Theres just a few more things I want to run by you before I get started. One is that Serrida's fur color is a dark shade of grey with light brown stripes. Is that normal for a khajiit? Two, how much racism should I include in the first chapter? Since the first chapter is more of a prolauge of her life in her village when she was 10 years old. Do you think the people there would except her as part of the communityΒ or shun her for being a Khajiit? And finally, What would be a good title for this story? Since its about a female khajiit who was raised byΒ a nord. I would think the title would have to be some where around those lines. But there are other options.

Jakhajay In reply to Bandersnatch94b [2014-05-28 21:55:14 +0000 UTC]
Hmmm, it really depends on the rest of the village, some will be accepting and others will outright hate her. And some might be nice to her, but secretly mistrust her. How long has she been in the village at this point? You're going to get saints and assholes in every race, and so if you portray a little of each then it'll be more realistic. Since it's a prologue, most should be hinted at, and only the bits which directly influence her should be really elaborated on. Hope this helps

Bandersnatch94b In reply to Jakhajay [2014-05-31 03:52:04 +0000 UTC]
She has been in the village since she was four. She is ten years old in the prologue. But since the rest of the story takes place when she is 18 years old and trying to find her own way in the world. Ill try not to go to far with developingΒ the people she grew up with.Β She only had two friends growing up. Both of them human.Β Her father is very protective of her and wouldn't hesitate to beat the shit out of anyone who makes a racist comment about her. So most wouldn't say anything if he is around. Some however wouldn't care and still try to make her hard.

The hardest part for me now is writing from a woman's perspective. I don't want to make her personality to feminine but I wouldnt consider her to really much of a tomboy. Β Then there's the question of her sexuality. Β I don't want to make any assumptions Β about female sexuality that's going to leave my inbox filled with a million angry comments.Β

Jakhajay In reply to Bandersnatch94b [2014-11-10 22:49:17 +0000 UTC]
I can imagine. It's equally as different to write from a male perspective, as I have no idea. I suggest lurking around some websites which give an insight into feminine sexuality. Ask a few questions, but be careful how you frame them. Like male sexuality, women also have a spectrum ranging from extreme nymphomania, to total asexuality and everywhere between. LGBT is also a vast spectrum, and every person is different and identifies differently. Try to avoid using labels, and just treat you characters as people rather than a specific gender

Serrida is ultimately a sexually confused character. She grew up with humans and elves and had never seen one of her own kind before. Since she more or less sees herself as a nord even though she doesn't deny that she isn't human. She has always imagined herself with a human partner. Which is ultimately what happens later on in the story. But before that she feels pretty lonely. She is a independent kind of person in a way, but kinda desperate at the same time. She is full of self loathing because of her appearance. She would says something like. "Most women have to beat men off them and have an ample line of Suitors to choose from. And I have always wondered. What the hell is that like? Since most men see nothing more than a beast that some god with a wicked sense of humor shaped into man's image just for the sake of a cruel joke. Gods why did I have to be born a cat." That kind of sums up part of her personality.

you know after re reading your novel for the 4th time+ and seeing your art work .... I now have just 1 burning question .... Just What is M'rassi's tail pattern? in "that tickles" its the common "snow leopard" tail pattern seen in game. where in "smooch" it has a tigers striped pattern... or in "hug" where both patterns show ... and oddly im not sure just why I care apart for not being able to draw a full image in my mind with conflicting tail patterns. DX

Sorry it took so long to reply... M'rassi's tail pattern seems to change on a whim, I know. In my mind though, her tail is spotted near the base and they gradually merge to become more stripy at the towards the tip. I sometimes forget this when I colour...

They became a couple during Shout of the World-Eater, my Skyrim novel. I've been meaning to continue their story with the College quests and the DLC, But I hardly get any time to myself these days to work on them.

Everything I thoughtΒ I knew about KhajiitsΒ was wrong.Β I looked into the lore and found out that they aren't just one race but many. Some are near human, some are the size of giants, and some don't even walk on two legs. They also said they change with the moon. will this effect my charater in any way. I don't know how to incoreporate this new information into my story.Β ItsΒ screwing with my head. you think you understand something one moment but than its blown away by something new.

Welcome to the world of the Elder Scrolls Lore Every timeyou think you know all about something, you find another scrap that blows your mind
A note on khajiit forms and the moons: The form a khajiit takes depends on the moon phases at birth. They keep this form their entire life, rather than taking a new form every time the moons change. With Shout, M'rassi's brother was Ohmes (The more mannish, Arena khajiit), while she was Cathay-raht (the Skyrim ones)

I'm sorry Tegan, but aren't Cathay-raht like 8 feet tall and with Jaguar patterns?
I know we've debated this before, but I don't think Bethesda ever intented on making a different Khajiit sub-specie since Morrowind, I still think they're Suthay-raht just with Oblivion, them being too lazy to create digitigrade legs, and Skyrim they ran out of time (as a developer has said)
π: 0 β©: 1
Jakhajay In reply to Khelt [2013-12-13 16:19:30 +0000 UTC]
Hey Khelt, long time, no see I don't think height of Cathay-Raht has been mentioned specifically in lore, unless TES Online has announce new information, but the jaguar spots have been mentioned. I'd expect that with the variety of coat colour and spotting/stiping variations, that this would be true of all furred varieties of khajiit. Yes, it was stated that the khajiit in Morrowind were Suthay-raht, but it's not been explicitly stated that they remain so in Oblivion or Skyrim. There is still debate in places as to their variant. Personally, I think that whether due to laziness or time costraints, the straight legs make them non-suthay. I've concluded that they must be Cathay or Cathay-raht. It might make more sense if I put it this way:
The khajiit have many varieties, for many different jobs (I think this may have been mentioned in the Interviews) Suthay and Suthay-raht, with their digitigrade (what an awkward word to say and type!) legs would be excellent jumpers and springers, pouncing on their prey. Cathay and Cathay-raht with their straight legs are better suited to long distance running, driving prey to collapsing of exhaustion. All 4 varieties bipedalism means that they can carry and use tools, unlike the quadruped variants, like the Pahmer, Pahmer-raht, Senche and Senche-raht.
I'm more than happy to change my opinion if new lore comes to light regarding the khajiit varieties (eagerly awaiting TES Online for this) but for now, this is my head-canon

Khelt In reply to Jakhajay [2013-12-13 18:00:49 +0000 UTC]
You're right about the height, I guess that was just an assumption based on the Stature comparison leading from Suthay, Suthay-raht, Cathay, and Cathay-raht each supposedly bigger than the other.
However, in "A Dance in Fire", Cathay-raht in comparison to a Werewolf are considered to be a worse threat, I don't know about you but the Khajiit in Skyrim or Oblivion aren't something to fear like they do in that book
Our difference in this is that you seem to accept mistakes in games as official canon lore,
I'd sooner have to accept Orcs as Beast-races and Tiber Septim's CHIM being a text error as TESO has it set out
Oh yeah, and if you'd like to consider TESO as official in lore, It's already been confirmed the playable Khajiit are Suthay-raht, and they too still have straight legs.

Jakhajay In reply to Khelt [2013-12-13 20:01:33 +0000 UTC]
It's been a while since I read 'A Dance in Fire' must read again
I usually base my canon on the in-game literature, quests. The look of the khajiit is simply a design choice, and i simply assumed they were a different subspecies. Then again, you know what they say about assumption...Β Β
π: 0 β©: 1
Khelt In reply to Jakhajay [2013-12-13 20:55:07 +0000 UTC]
They were a design choice in Oblivion to make things simpler with apparel,
but not for Skyrim, they didn't get to fulfill their choice; that doesn't sway away from what they were intended to be.
I understand your argument, but think of it like this:
If I attempted to draw a Spider, posted it on Deviant Art, and for whatever reason gave it 6 legs instead of 8 (Be it that I forgot them, was too lazy to draw more, or didn't have enough time); Then people started to claim that it was not a Spider, but that it was an insect.
Is my drawing so suddenly not a spider? or does it stay classified to what it was intended to be? (that being, it was intended to have 8 legs, or in Skyrim's case, intended to have Digitigrade legs)
