A Llama badge is... a llama that appears on your own DA page. It shows how many you have collected when you hover your mouse over it. I just tend to give them to anyone who comments or favorites something of mine. For each user, I can only give up to one llama per user, so if I had already given one to someone, I can't give them another. It's just something I do to say "Thanks for checking out my stuff!" without saying it tens of thousands of times (literally).
