Joel had become a good friend for my son Marcel (badfinger.deviantart.com/journ⦠). They only knew about deviantart. New Year's Eve 2008 they wanted to spend together in America with my second son. Unfortunately my son died in June 2008. I then had short time contact to Joel and was deeply impressed by him. As often as I think of the friendship of the two, I also visit Joel's side.

I suspected this too. Β I am really sad to see it confirmed. Β I haven't been here in a while, but followed a link of another friend's work, and as I always have done when here, checked Joel's site. Β I read and communicated with him on another site, and whenever I got an email that he had posted a new image, I felt a rush of excitement. Β His characters and his development and interaction of them, were wonderful. Β When we corresponded, we wrote mostly about his work. Β I didn't know him really well, but I miss his presence in my life. Β I miss his humor, and miss reading new work from him very much. Β I am a longtime fan of rereading favorite works, and I will be rereading his many times. Β

It still hurts. I knew him well; we chatted almost every day and then he was just... gone. I came back to look at his page again today since I know his birthday just passed (June 30). Wish I knew him better, though.Β I learned a lot about story-telling from him. His stories are terribly underrated. If only the world knew!

I still can't believe it. And I wish I had known sooner.Β The last I'd heard, at the end of 2010, Joel was in not such a good condition. My guess is that he'd ended up in the hospital for a few weeks afterward and finally passed away in January.
This is really rough. And I still can't believe it. If anyone here wants to talk about Joel, send me a PM or just say it here.
Rest in peace, Joel. I'm gonna miss you, you old fart. And I'll always be back here to re-read your stories. They are the best.

Oh god....its official then....
I was giving Joel money to live 4 years ago, paying him for his beautiful Poser art, then my Mum found out and forbid me from paying him any more...
-sigh- to think I could have made a difference T_T
Well, I still have Poser, and I will continue to use it, in memory of him. What a great guy he was... rest in peace my old friend...
Part of me really wants to take one of his characters and use it in my story, or hell even continue writing his story, he deserves as much....

I wish I knew where he was going with the Four Sisters. He kept telling me the story was going to get pretty good.
I'm sure you made a difference in his down days. It just sucks that he started going downhill after he started getting his welfare checks. I'm probably gonna use some of his story concepts and ideas in my story. What I want to do is make his whole Four Sisters story available for easy reading on a blog like Tumblr or somewhere else. He does deserve as much.
Couldn't believe it when I found out. Felt so empty that day. He was a good friend and he taught me so much about story-telling.

I think I felt more dreary acceptance than emptiness really, like I'd already more or less gathered that he had died, I just hadn't seen proof until yesterday. I'll miss him a lot too.

Chin up, Joel's not gone, he's still a part of us. He wouldn't want us to cry over his loss -hugs- we'll never forget him and, wherever he is, he won't ever forget us. And who knows, maybe someday we'll meet him again in a different life. -pats your back-

normally lets me know about whats going on with all her Deviant buddies (since I'm just on the other side of the room) and she told me about all the insane weather up in Tennessee! I'm glad you were in a fallout building!
She also informed me about how your Poser had crashed! I was like
But I'm glad you got it running again!
Anywho, I also heard about how flooded it got up where you used to live! I can recall it flooding real bad in Texas at one time. It almost swept away my little step-sister! At least she thought it was funny at first until she saw the look on her Dad's face after he saved her!
Other than that, I hope nobody in your neighborhood got swept away!

It was catastrophic here. 39 people died. A tornado hit just outside the building and tore some buildings up. We lost power for almost two days and lost internet on Sunday morning when the place where the servers went underwater when a levee broke and flooded part of town.
Right now, a lot of Nashville is wrecked, especially near the river, but I'm fine and my building survived without a scratch. I've power and internet, so I'm doing pretty damned good!
