(Also, in the SHOWER? I thought I was the only one that pondered weird fandom stuff in the shower... XD)

I remember he was shaking and trembling a lot and that he begged them to take him out of the city, because he was unable to move or whatever by himself. So he was affected by it. Lief says something about it almost killing him in their big confrontationy thing too. But it doesn't say WHY he was even able to enter in the first place. Maybe it is just that whole Grade 3 Ols are part human (which is why Prandine could be killed by falling from a tower, instead of having to be stabbed... Though I've always wondered why he wouldn't just assume the form of a bird or something so that wouldn't happen...) So yeah, Grade 3s are part human... I think... Maybe they're so good at holding form that the magic of Tora can't penetrate it completely or something?

I never thought we'd find the day when there was something big that happens in the Deltora plot that we wouldn't have thought about in great depth yet.
THIS MAKES ME HAPPY.

I think there's a passage somewhere that says no evil can exist within Tora, like it gets drained out in the tunnel. That applies for anger and hatred too apparently. So perhaps when it was drained away he was such a shadow of himself that it was all he could do to hold himself together? The tunnel would've drained the source of his power, but I like the idea that there was enough human in him (didn't the Shadow Lord say something about them being imperfect since grade 3's have pride and other human weaknesses?) that he didn't completely unravel. I think he would've been able to enter in any form and he would be drained and weak, but the shaking and trembling was his efforts to hold his affected form. Like he wouldn't be doing that (maybe shivering though) if he was in his true shape. But that wouldn't explain the 'almost killing him' bit.
Perhaps the Shadow Lord evil and hatred got taken out and if Dain had let it, the tunnel would've taken everything from him and he would've died and faded away. But he held onto his more human emotions, the pride and other strong feelings that the tunnel would've tried to dull, and that kept him alive?
Did that make any sense at all?
I'm adding this to the Master-list.

With the Prandine thing, I always just assumed that it takes long enough to shift (even though it's just a second) that he wouldn't be able to do that in time. It wouldn't have helped that he was surprised either, perhaps even if he could change forms immediately his mind wouldn't have comprehended that's what he needed to do before he hit the ground.

We've thought about more things than most people have though, and I know I've thought about a LOT of things deeply. Like how would such-and-such work, what must be the layout of this place if they managed to do this? Random, unimportant things too, I'm surprised I hadn't thought about the implications of Dain even SURVIVING more, I mean I tend to over think things.

I did that too, the first dozen times. After that I was able to pretty much quote the books and Lachy could read out any random line and I'd be able to guess which book it was from and what was happening (I don't think he really searched too hard for a line with no clues though) so I started thinking about it in much more depth
