Are those books really banned? Almost all of them are mandatory reading at my school.
Mandatory reading made me stop liking books, but I digress.

Yeah, crazy right? I guess a lot of them aren't banned at my school though
I know the 10th graders have to read Animal Farm this year, I wonder how they'll feel about that...

It's about the Russian revolution. It's controversial because the US and the Soviets were still pretending to be BFFs. It was written during or right after WWII, while they were still our most powerful ally. I read it in 8th grade. George Orwell is a great author. By the way, conservative estimates put Stalin's death toll for his own citizens and soldiers at 20 million, beating Hitler's pathetic 10 million. It's like they were having a contest. Keep that in mind whenever you see a hipster with a Hammer and Sickle T-shirt. Funny how they never see the irony in purchasing communist memorabilia through capitalism (cough cough Che Guevarra T's).
Look what you did, you got me talking about history.
Anyway, here's an article that might interest you: [link]

Wow, I read it in 8th grade too. Well, the summer right before,I think.
I thought it was great, so I read 1984 and loved it too.
It's funny how I didn't understand the whole Russian revolution thing until learning about it after I read the book. At the time I saw it more as a way of showing how people can be. How they can overthrow a bad leader, only to take up that same corruption they had. The ending was pretty awesome too, haha.
Also, great article. Hilarious stuff, especially what they said about Orwell.

You should check out cracked. I go there every day. Also, did you get my message or are you *sobs* ignoring it? Anyway, I'm writing a story. I don't expect it to be any good, but it should be good practice.

Glad you understand. The history lesson today is that almost every revolution makes a nation worse than it started out as. America is an exception because we didn't give all the power to anybody for display of good military strategy and bravery. Washington did not have all the power, but that guy was almost Jesus anyway. You should read the comments on cracked; sometimes they're better than the articles (click "Votes" or "Popular."), and I like to post pictures of those comments, whether I contributed or not.

All these gifs ar killing my computer and I can barely see mysefl typee.
Anyway, what was the first Pokemon game you played?
Mine was Yellow. After that, my brother got silver and I got gold a few years later. I got pissed at him because I was a stupid little kid and I deleted his file which had a level 100 Typhlosion and every legendary in the game. His response was to "Lend" Gold to his friend, and to this day I don't have it back.

Oh, uh, sorry?
But wow, you deleted his game file? I had Emerald version. I barely played it and I restarted a lot, mostly because I was totally clueless. xDD I really got into Sapphire version though, once I actually understood everything it got to be my favorite game when I was little. :>

I only got Emerald after Generation IV. My friend got sapphire after he got a DS. It seems that we grizzled Pokemon veterans overlooked Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. I got Leafgreen though. I guess people my age chose the remakes for nostalgia's sake. And I know what you're talking about with the whole not understanding stuff, but I bet it was worse for me in Yellow version because the battles were just garbled masses of pixels in Gen I.

So, what do you think of it so far? :>
I have both the first and second versions and loved them, but then I pretty much abandoned the games.

Oh, and the soundtrack's pretty good too. I do feel like they're shifting towards cute instead of badass Pokemon, and while I don't prefer that, I'm not going to whine about it. There were some cuties in Generation 1 and there are some badasses in Black and White.
By the way, I'm not sure if you've noticed the absolute insanity that goes on in competitive battling, but you probably have. This UV stats, EV training, breeding stuff? What the hell? Can't they play the game like normal people? I play competitive games all the time and I have never seen a fanbase so universally hardcore as Pokemon's. Yeah, Squirtle's moveset is serious stuff.

I see why I put 240 hours into Generation 4 now. I like this game, and how it focuses on the plot to an extent, instead of doing what the old games did; it seemed like the only reason you saved the world in the other games was because if you didn't do that, you wouldn't be able to get to the Pokemon league. "Okay, if I HAVE to, but that whole 'Hero' thing better not get in the way of me becoming a Pokemon master."
Not trying to detract from the old games, but that's how I feel.
The one thing that bothers me is that there aren't any older generation Pokemon to be found, at least, not yet, but that's just because I wanted to trade over my level 100 Venusaur at the first Pokemon Center.
