tbh I honestly dont think I like HS that much except for the fact there's a few good characters in it- (plus the troll species is rlly intresting)

Haha, my friend dragged me into reading it and I haven't been the same since.. Except that I definitely still am, save for some new fandom-y nonsense in my sketchbooks! I actually really like the story; I absolutely adore the confusing nature of it. (Of course, based on some of the movies I like, I'm starting to think that I have terrible taste oh no)
I'm not even halfway through, I think, at 3874 out of the seemingly endless pages.. But I see what you mean so far. I actually stopped reading it for a week or so when mass murder was committed (but then again, when is it not committed in a good story). I'm a bit of a baby when it comes to characters I like dying.
And oh my gosh thank you so much!! I've been in a bit of a slump recently, so that means a lot to me! Β

xD I've read it twice-
The story really is of the confusing sort, im on my 3rd read right now and im only now getting some of the things I missed throughout the other two times
I tend to love the characters more than the plot, a lot of things go unnoticed or get confusing if you can't remember everything that happened (which is hard to do when there are 1000 pages of crap to remember)
I love the story, however, no matter how spontaneous it is or how it can get xD
The author is a riot, man, he really loves to rile up his fandom
It's ABSOLUTELY not for people who want a happy ending for their favorite character omg-Β
A lot of the characters have suuuper negative traits, and everyone's always telling you who you should like or not like, it gets really frantic really fast if you get involved with the fandom, phew!
I really love the worlds, universes, plot and story (when you can follow it xD ) and its all really lovely and interesting when you can get into it!

Oh man, I don't know if I'll live to get through this first reading..! I am buying the books as they come out, since the author's notes are somewhat helpful (when they aren't spoiling anything, but I don't mind anymore, I get spoiled all the time these days).
But the multi-universe concepts and all keep me coming back, no matter how hectic or hard to read it gets (when the trolls were first introduced, I couldn't read half of what they were saying, and the darn tridentspeak from Feferi nearly made me hate her character altogether).
I do like a fair share of negative traits from characters in general. It keeps them feeling realistic (I mean, come on, how many real nice people are there out there? Everyone has their flaws) and well rounded!
And oh geez, I can't pick a favorite anymore.. At first it was Dave, then I leaned towards Tavros and Karkat, then Gamzee for a bit, hated him for a while, fell in love with the fishes, fell out of love with Eridan and mourned the loss of a clearly superior fish, started to feel less spiteful to Gamzee, gained a newfound appreciation for Terezi, etc etc.. Right now I would probably say Equius. I really disliked him but somehow.. He grew on me??Β Β
I'm not really a big shipper when the characters aren't my own, so I don't have any. ^^"

xDDD omg it takes forever to read, and then you dont get it all, and then you forget things or miss things and have to read it again, and I have ADHD so I can read the same page like, 15 times and not understand anything, so its time consuming-

honestly, the whole troll quirks were hard at first, but whenever youve read over a thousand pages of it, you get used to it.Β
negitive traits are good to have, but its only a matter of time before the fandom starts hating the character for being realistic-
xD its rlly hard to pick a favorite character, but sometimes the strangest ones stick!Β
I have a strange love/hate thing about gamzee. He's... without spoiling, a really awful character for the things hes done. Then, when you figure out the reasons for why he did what he did, you almost feel... sorry for him. It's just a difficult situation tbh,,,
