with ur esmerelda piece
i take it ur useing a tablet and photoshop?
if so try blending tones just using the paintbrush and by pressing on the pen lighter and harder, dont use burn tool and pinpoint, thats what im doing but a friend taught me a few things just yesterday lol!
watch this footage, ino its long but worth it and you can pick up a few tips, also make the 'image' that the tutorial uses a brush into ur photoshop, heres the links, i hope it helps
