Hi Sheila, yes, we did feel it - my friend and I were having lunch at a job in Cobden on the West Coast and just hoped it hadn't come the 250ks from Christchurch, but...
Just devastating to say the least... :( (Sad)
Some friends of ours live near the city, they have a baby just a few months old, they survived the earthquake and the three of them spent the next night under their friends kitchen table. I hope that's the end of the big shakes over there for a another 1000 years...

We've all had a rough week here, 5 guys from our little town are gone, leaving many familys without a dad or husband or son. Heartwrenching to say the least! Heartbreaker

Hi Carly, 5 guys from Runanga are still in the mine. I know one of them well, he has a young family, another is a friends neighbour with 2 young children. One of my good friends was on the shift before and he is close to all of them. I met the guy who's car broke down and he rang in sick, he's dealing with a bit. It's really hard on everyone here.

Cuddling up with someone close... You guys are a hardy bunch up there, stay strong! And although I'm not immediately affected I still feel some of the anger and frustration everyone else is feeling. I'm really good thanks mate!! The days are getting longer and warmer now which is always a nice change, I love the snow and even the cold (our fire never went out for 4 months! good ol coal!!) but a nice sunny day never goes amiss! Not much has changed down this way lately, I've been working hard to keep the bills away and we have 6 of the neighbours sheep keeping the lawns down (we've had 2 lambs this spring!) The farmer over the hill doesn't do a great job of keeping his fences up and they just wandered over about 6 months ago and he hasn't come looking for them yet!! Haven't had to mow any grass at all!! We don't have any fences anywhere, just bush, so they just wander down the road during the day and come back to sleep most nights. I went out to get a bucket of coal one night and there was no moon, pitch black, I was too lazy to go back for my head torch so I just inched my way toward the coal bin and by the clothesline I bumped right into a sheep just standing there in the dark! Baaa!! he said and just stood there, I had to walk around him!!
I hope you are all good and not studying too hard!! I've been so busy I haven't been able to catch up on dA much till now...

Ahhhh man that is so awesome!That is too funny about that sheep in the night I wish we had open spaces like that here :P (Lick) It's funny to hear that one part of the world is warming up while the other is cooling down. One day I will have to experience a Summer in our Winter haha :D (Big Grin) I'm going pretty well, classes are going alright which is a good change haha. Have a good one!
