HUG CERTIFICATE ! !
Send one to all your friends who you think deserve a hug (which, hopefully includes the person who sent it to you)!!
You might send it to your enemies as well!
It'll really make them stop and think!!!
If you don't receive this back, nobody likes you, and they wish you'd stop bugging them!
If you receive this back 1 time, open up! Find more friends, enemies, or enemies pretending to be friends
If you receive this back 2 times, you're off to a good start! (Unless you sent it to yourself! That's cheating!)
If you receive this back 3 times, you're a good friend.
If you receive this back 4 times, you're truly loved as a friend!!

Miss-Fantayjah In reply to Rainbow-Beanicorn [2011-03-27 22:38:19 +0000 UTC]
Please, don't be sorry. These are doctrines of the world, the devil himself. What is the person that wrote this leaving out? The fact that God is righteous and holy! What are we? Man. Sinful, corrupt man. Yet we shout to heaven and point a scummy finger at the King of Kings screaming YOU MADE ME THIS WAY! No. We made ourselves this way. The world is painful and disgusting because of what? God. No. Our own selfish sin. We have ourselves to blame for the pain and agony we endure on this Earth. The person that wrote this is leaving out everything else that is to be taken into context. Let's reflect on what we are without the redeeming blood of Christ. Genesis 6:6 says it REPENTED the Lord that He had made man on the earth, and it GRIEVED Him at His heart. The word for repent in this verse means that He felt sorry, of course He is all knowing and He knew that we were going to cause Him so much pain but He made us anyway, why? Because it pleased Him. We cause God SOOO much pain with our sin. We were made to be sinless and to glorify Him. But we decided to fall from the holiness God placed us in to wretched sinfulness apart from God.
Here's another verse that breaks my heart. Hosea 11:7,8 But my people are BENT to backsliding against Me: though they called them to the Most High, none at all would exalt Him. How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? How shall I deliver thee, Israel? How shall I make thee as Admah? How shall I set thee as Zeboim? Mine heart is churned within Me, My sympathy is come with terror. God wants the best for us! But, being just and holy, how is He supposed to reward our evil with His blessings of grace and mercy and love. We break His heart everyday with our sin and He's saying "How can I deliver you when you are running from Me and gnashing your teeth at me?" He loves us so much! He is so IN LOVE with us! But He hates our sin. And when we see Him and say "I don't need you, your just a big mean bully in the sky burning me with your magnifying glass" how is He then going to forgive our sins and redeem us from our chains when we deny His gift? He's left to execute His righteous wrath. Yes, God hates sin. But He loves us so much more that He sent His only begotten Son to die for our sins that we may spend eternity with Him. Don't expect the world, especially when it's under the rule of the "prince of this earth" (devil), to respect or positively respond to anything God does.
For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now Romans 8:22. Even the earth groans in sorrow because of mankinds sinfulness. One pastor said that the Earth itself would spew us out because we are everything that is against God. The Earth wouldn't yeild its fruit for our food. The seas would roar and swallow us up. Yet, it is the pure mercy and pleasure of GOD ALMIGHTY that stays the Earths travailings. By His mercy can we even suck air into our lungs and live. The air itself would turn toxic because of our sinfulness. The second sin entered the lives of mankind we should've been cast into the lake of fire for ever! Why weren't we? Romans 3:25 says Whom God hath set forth (speaking of Christ) to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission (or forgiveness/the taking away of) sins that are past, through the forbearance of God... Do you know what forbearance means? The dictionary definition is the excersize of patience; long suffering; indulgence towards those who injure us; delay of resentment or punishment! That's HUGE! Christ INDULGES in us EVEN when we cause Him so much pain!
The world has been blinded to the glory and the grace and the mercy and the truth of Jesus Christ by the prince of this world (a.k.a the devil). 2 Corinthians 4:3,4 says But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world (devil) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the lightof the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. God does not want to send people to hell, He doesn't want to execute judgement. He wishes that ALL come to Him and repent and find in Christ life everlasting! However, He IS a JUST and HOLY God that CANNOT look upon sin! He cannot! He is Holy, to see sin would to become sin.
Here's an example. Imagine your closest friend or family member whom you love. Doesn't matter who it is, but think of which person you would say you might love "the most" if you will. Now, imagine that person whom you love so dearly was brutally murdered. The worst murder. And they found the person that did it and that person was brought before the judge. The judge sat there a second and he asked the murderer, "Do you honor me?"..."No." The murderer says. "Do you respect my position as your superior?" "No." Says the murderer.
The judge leans back and thinks for a minute or two. The court room in suspense, you are waiting to hear the verdict that would give you closure, and bring that evil man to justice. The murderer isn't sad about what he's done, he's in blantant, rank rebellion. In fact, he is in total revile against the judge, the murderer HATES the judge. You're thinking, this man is definitely going to receive justice. Finally the judge sits forward and says, eh, I'll let you off this time. Oh, and I'm gonna give you a brand new car, a really nice job, and a really big nice house in the mountains.
WHAT? The judge is letting him go?
So, what if God let every sinner that refused His redeeming blood go? And let them into heaven anyways? What would that say about God?
Don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying that the worst murderer can't get into heaven, Christ says "My grace is sufficient for you." meaning there is no unforgivable sin. Christ is enough.
What I'm saying is that God is Just, Fair, Holy, Righteous, All-Powerful, All-Knowing. He cannot look upon sin. And sin does make Him angry. No doubt about it. Another example...
Let's say Jesus is talking to a man, no one in particular just some guy. Jesus says, I have a ticket for you. The guy says, eh, I'm not much for tickets. Jesus says, this is your ticket to heaven, I would like you to have it. The guy says, Dude, no. I don't want your stupid ticket. Jesus says, but I love you and I want you to be with me. The guy says, I don't want you and I don't need you. Jesus says, well, there's only one other place for you to go, you do know that, right? The guy says, sure, I'll escape it, I'm a good person, I've only lied a couple times, I've stolen but it was only a stick of gum. Come on. I'm going to hell for that. Jesus says, That's why I have a ticket to heaven for you. The guy says, No. Don't want it.
Where is the guy gonna go? Jesus, offering His grace and mercy, wanting to shower this person in His love. But the guy refuses. Where else can he go?
So. I know I'm ranting now but you can't let things like those articles and that book to get to you. These are the tools of the enemy, and the enemy's main mission is to pull you away from God.
There is a very humbling passage in Job 38 where Job is pretty much shaking His finger in God's face if you will, asking Him why He did this and why He lets suffering happen.
God responds to Job starting in verse one.
Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
"Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
Prepare yourself now like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
Where were you when I laid the foundations of the Earth? Declare if you have understanding.
Who has laid the measures thereof, if you know? Or who laid the corner stone thereof;
When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?
When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddling band for it,
And brake up for it my decreed place and set bars and doors,
And said, Hitherto you will come, but no further: and here shall your proud waves be stayed?
Have you commanded the morning since your days; and caused the dawn to know its place;
That it might take hold of the ends of the Earth, that the wickedmight be shaken out of it?
...continued in verse 16
Have you entered into the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in search of the depth?
Have the gates of death been opened to you? Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death?
Have you percieved the breadth of the earth? Declare if you know it all.
Where is the way where light dwells? And as for darkness, where is its place,
That you should bound it, and that you shold know the paths to the house of it?
Know you it, because you were then born?
Or because the number of your days is great?
Have you entered into the treasures of the snow? Or have you seen the treasures of the hail,
Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
By what way is the light parted, which satters the east wind upon the earth?
Who has divided a water course for the overflowingof waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder; to cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man; to stisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?
Has the rain a father? Or who has begotten the drops of dew?
Out of whose womb came the ice? And the hoary frost of heaven, who gives it birth?
The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.
Can't you bind the cluster of Pleiades (the Seven Stars) or loose the bands of Orion?
Can't you bring forth Mazzaroth (lit. constellations)? Or can't you guide Arcturus (or The Great Bear) with his sons?
Know you the ordinances of heaven? Can't you set the dominion thereof in the earth?
Can't you lift up your voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover you?
Can't you send lightnings, that they may go, and say unto you, 'Here we are'?
Who has put wisdom in the inward parts? Or who has given understanding to the heart?
Who can number the clouds in wisdom? Or who can stay the bottles of heaven, when the dust grows into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together?
Will you hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions, when they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?
Who provides the raven his food? When his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat."
It continues in chapter 39 but I figured you get the idea. See? Our wisdom and our knowlegde and our "logic" falls so incredibly short of God's all-knowing and all-powerful nature, we have NO idea. In psalm 139, David writes "Such knowledge is too wonderful for me. I cannot attain unto it."
Anyways, I guess I said that to say that He is righteous, and He is holy. All He does is right and true. I'm gonna share some other examples that that person spoke of in their book and article and what they so graciously left out. Funny how everybody is SO quick to say, "Aha! See this verse. God is bad..." Yet, they leave out the verse before and after that, that speaks of His mercy and grace and the times that He says, "here is your chance, repent from your evil ways and look to me!" and all the times that He says, "I love you, and I'm here for you! Come to me. Come rest in Me! Come be with Me! Come and sit and eat and drink with Me!". Yet they turn their backs on Him and cling to that one sentence that speaks of God executing His wrath. Which He has done and will do. But it's not like He sits up there and says, Ope! One see, you're a goner. He pleads with our hearts, He says turn and repent of your see and walk with Me! Anyways. I'll say more concerning your other question...

I am replying to both your replies ^^
Oh my i cant believe you wrote all that just for me, lol im so touched by that, thank you for caring about me, but most of all for your love for God.
I was foolish, i of course didnt believe in what the book wrote about but ...i was weak and im like oh no! God has done so many things, that i dont know whats right or wrong. I feel like such a fool, my soul is very weak, i cant believe i was so worried about it. You made perfect sense! I dont know why i am so influenced what others say. Thats scary to think i am that gullable when it comes to knowing God.
Do you think God is mad at me for questioning His love? I know i will be forgiven if i truly and sincerley ask to be forgiven, ...i guess He sadly gets this type of thing a lot. People doubting him and ...cant believe i questioned Him
Everything you have said has made me feel so much better, and i know you wrote like 3 novels just for me, again you're a life saver.
If you EVER have time for this question that would be cool, if not i dont blame you, lol I knwo i have already got so many questions going, i dont wanna make your head spin! lol.
I was just wondering about God's views on homosexuality. I believe that the bible clearly states that you shouldnt be with the same sex, however people are now saying "Well if God is all loving that means He loves gays" I was trying to tellt hese people that YES God loves every single one of us, its sin that he hates. Then they were quoting the bible of
It makes me so sad to hear God gets sad and upset when we sin, the thought of disappointing Him is the worst feeling ever.
I really like what you said about Jesus offering that guy a ticket to Heaven, it was a good example of people turning away from Him. But its just so hard to fathom someone meeting Jesus and saying "No i dont want that ticket to heaven!" lol i mean its just so unimaginable, but i guess thats what i was saying before (and im sure you've mentioned it also), people turn away from Him and not only that; but when Jesus comes down to earth again, i read that people wont think its Jesus, they'll think its a UFO or some sort of military disaster, people wont clue in cause their so closed off from Jesus. Is that right?
I also liked the Judge and the murderer story, and it makes COMEPLETE sense, i now understand why God does the things he does.
I know with all my heart God is all loving, perfect, pure, and He just wants us to be with Him. I knew He did things that were questionable for people who dont understand, to someone who doesnt know God, i can see them being offended if someone blantently told them "God killed Millions!" and then that person would be like "Really? He must be evil!", and for a minute i was questioning God, but at the same time i know everything He does is for a good reason and no one should question it or ask why God did certain things. But my innards were conflicting like a battle, lol I know without a doubt God does everything out of love and YES he is a just God! and then on the other hand i had those questioning thoughts in my head ...i guess this is normal if i leave myself open to believe things i know not to be true.
So yeah it was a huge battle with my head and my heart, and we should always go with out hearts.
Im just so upset i was so easily swayed for a moment.
~
This is a BIG issue with me, and im afraid it might make or break my relationship with God, (this is so embarrassing) How do you remember to be an active Christian, not sure if thats the right term, but the only time i ever think about God is when i go to bed at night. I would really love to think of Him all the time with everything i do, i wanna praise him and worship him throughout the day, not because i think i have to, but because i want to, i want to make Him happy. But i continuely leave him for the computer...isnt that awful?? I feel so much guilt everyday and especially since i made that one promise and i broke it cause i forgot. I am sure God takes promises very seriusly and i just casually forgot. How do you stay on track?
When i am on the computer or watching tv, i think of NOTHING else but the show or some random thoughts, but never talking to God cause i forget
I knwo i need to pray about it and i know He's the onyl one i can lean on, but it helps to hear your views on it to enlighten me and maybe you have important things to say ont he matter of choosing material things over God.
I am so heartbroken for being this way. I dont want to, but i dont work right now and i dont drive, i dont go to school, so all i do all day is stay at home and eat, sleep, tv, computer and then when my head hits the pillow i am all over God, but i just dont think its right with what im doing.
Just so you know i am in a program right now that helps me with my career choices and helps me decide if i want to just get a job or go to school, i'll be doing a very intense career exploration. They do a bunch of assesments and tests to see what my learning and work style is and that'll help narrow down some jobs or school options for me. I'll be getting out of the house at least once a week, lol.
I only mentioned this cause i didnt want you to think i was some low life, lol Ive just had trouble through my 26 years with a learning disability and anxiety, lol so that has made me very fearful of getting a job, etc.etc.
Anyways i think ive been on the computer enough, im so sorry if i missed anything, youre probably like "Thank goodness!" lol.
You're the best! xoxo

NO! Please, don't feel like a low life! Holey Moley, I like, LOVE you! Please don't feel that way. If its any consolation, I've been sitting around on my butt doing nothing but dA and art for the past year and just last week I got a job. So, first, I don't think you're a low-life, and second, I've been there, so please don't feel bad.
And don't feel foolish because the things that article and book said jarred you a little. I've been jarred before. I've been there. I've wondered before. What you're feeling is something every Christian feels. We all doubt, we all question. Yes, it's wrong but we do. We just ask God to forgive us; ask God to strengthen our faith, and ask God to protect our hearts and minds from lies and deception, ask God to make us better, and move on in our walk with Him. So, please don't feel foolish. Even Jesus disciples in the gospel doubted Him, like Peter and Thomas. Don't dwell on it and move on in your walk with Jesus.
So, homosexuality.
Leviticus 18:22 says Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination
Homosexuality is an abomination before the Lord. But so is sin, sin is an abomination and we ALL sin. That's why Jesus died, to save us from the wretchedness of our sin. When someone has Jesus, the Holy Spirit changes us into His likeness - meaning as we grow in Christ, He works in us and makes us better and better and more and more like Him who is perfect.
Like 2 Corinthians 3:18 says But we all with open (unveiled) face beholding as in a glass (mirror) the glory of the Lord, are changed into the SAME image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Oh, I just love that, Jesus changes us! We don't, we can't, change ourselves. But Jesus, who is perfect and holy manifests Himself in us and we become more like Him! Isn't that awesome?!?!
There is a woman who shared her testimony with me and a group of other women (we'll call her Sally). So, Sally, ever since she was a teenager experimented with the same sex. She has battled homosexual tendencies all her life. One day she came to know Christ. She knew that being homosexual was wrong but she still kept going back to her old way. There is a verse somewhere (I can't remember) That says man returns to his sin like a dog returns to his own vomit. Gross image, yes? That's what we look like every time we return to our sin. Anyways... She asked Jesus to help her and Jesus changed her. There were several times when she "relapsed" into her homosexual ways but Jesus kept pulling her out of it and changing her heart.
So I guess I said that to say that if someone is homosexual, it doesn't mean that Jesus will reject them. John 6:37 Jesus speaks saying All that the Father gives me shall come to me; and him that comes to me I will in no wise cast out. We must repent, or turn from our sinful ways. So a homosexual person wouldn't stay that way after knowing Jesus, 1) because He changes us, like I already said / 2) When the Holy Spirit dwells within us, He convicts us of sin in our lives. So whenever you feel bad about something you did/do that's the Holy Spirit graciously convicting your heart of your sin and that's when we need to take it to the cross and say Jesus, help me with this sin that I hold onto, change me.
I hope that clarifies a few things on homosexuality, let me know if I didn't answer your question!
As with staying on track (with my walk with God). I kind of don't. I don't know how to explain it. It's Jesus in me that keeps me on track if you know what I mean. I know you're struggling with spending too much time on the computer and stuff. But, I'm going to start posting comments on your dA page telling you to go read your bible. Lol. It doesn't mean you can't ever go on the computer but if you want to know how to strengthen your walk with God, and how to see Jesus and love Him more and worship Him and praise Him more earnestly, get into the word of God. One time someone said that the Bible is God's love letter to us. Then this person was like, wouldn't you want someone to read your love letter to them? I'm not saying this to make you feel bad, I just think it's a good analogy. But ya. Please, get into God's word. I CANNOT STRESS TO YOU MORE HOW IMPORTANT IT IS! Lol.
I noticed in your other response that you said you were starting in the old testament and you were going to read through from cover to cover. That's cool, I've been trying to do that for awhile now. However, I would also read some chapters in the New Testament while you're reading through the old Testament. You know what I'm saying?
Concerning the translations you have (I read King James Version) I would read the New International version or the King James Version. The "message" is ok. But it's more of a poetic, idealogical translation whereas the KJV and NIV are more literal translations. If you were studying a verse in the NIV or KJV and you wanted some more insight or a slightly different perspective then I would look the verse up in the Message but that's it. I wouldn't do my nightly reading in it.
I think you should take your NIV bible or your KJV bible and start reading the book of John. It's a gospel book about Jesus and His time on earth. The gospels (matt. mark, luke, john) are SO important. Just start with reading a chapter of John a day. It'll take you 10 minutes. Take 10, 15, or 20 minutes out of your day and go to a quiet place (your room for example) pray for a little bit and read a chapter out of the Bible. That's square one. I read at night, but do what's better for you. Maybe reading the bible should be the first thing you do everyday before you get distracted with other things. Girl, I just can't tell you enough how important it is to get into the word of God. It's our sword (Ephesians 6:17). That's how we fight off the enemy. For example, those articles that troubled you so much, those can be fought off and refuted by the WORD OF GOD! The bible tells us to hide God's word in our hearts.
The word of God is our spiritual nourishment. Without the bible we are starving ourselves. Matthew 4:4 Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God What word is He talking about? The Bible. We are spiritually starving ourselves if we are not reading the Bible and praying.
And pray as in talk with God. Just talk to Him like you would talk to someone who is sitting right next to you. Like you would talk to your best friend. He is our best friend and He knows our heart. Hagar (the maid for Sarah, Abraham's wife) called God, Elroy. Elroy means "God who sees me". He sees our hearts, He knows us better than we know ourselves. Just talk to Him. Do it right now. You don't have to be in a certain place or wait for a certain time to pray. You can pray as you sit looking at the screen right now. Even Jesus prayed. Yes, Jesus Himself prayed to the Father. He often withdrew Himself from the multitudes of people that followed Him to be alone with the Father and prayed. If Jesus Himself, perfect and holy as He was, how much more do we need to withdraw ourselves to a quiet place and be with our Heavenly Father.
The Holy Spirit has convicted you of what you need to do, seek Him, talk with Him, read His word. Now act on it.
And, as always, I never mind your questions If anything they are quite a blessing. They challenge me (in a good way). God has truly blessed me with you, dear friend! And thanks for your honesty. It is a blessing to see someone who will be honest and ask questions.
I love you! I hope this helped. And you can count on me, I will start holding you accountable. Expect to see reminders on your page to read your Bible. Lol.

This depresses me, can you explain a little about this? Its just so hard to fathom why God killed so many people ...not really questioning him, i just dont understand how he can kill people so easily. Also it states that God made a bet with the devil? Can you explain that to me? i know God did it for a reason but...im just not sure, lol.

Try to go through the pages it gets more depressing.

I'm sorry. I couldn't go further. It really saddens my heart to see that that's how some people view my Jesus. Not that I think you agree with them, I just couldn't read it anymore.
Ok. So, the man that killed his homosexual friend, he was decieved. Jesus, at no time says to do this. He says we are to shine the light of Christ. That was not shining the light of Christ.
Let's talk about Sodom and Gomorrah.
It says in Genesis 13:13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinful before the Lord exceedingly. Then God says in Genesis 18:20,21 And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
Then Abraham says in verse 23 Will You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous within the city: will You also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are there?
Then God responds in verse 26 If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, thenI will spare all the place for their sakes.
So, if there were fifty people of God in that city, God would not destroy it.
The conversation continues between God and Abraham as Abraham is finding that there are not fifty righteous, nor are there 45 righteous. Then the number decreases to 10 and Abraham asks
in verse 32 What if there be 10 shall be found there. And God responds I will not destroy it
God does end up destroying it after the the men of Sodom come to Lot's house in search of the two men (that were really angels) so that they could have sex with them. Lot came out of his house and saying please don't do this wicked thing. Then the men (both young and old the bible says) pushed Lot and broke the door down. So, they were going to rape these men. But the two men (that were angels in disguise) struck the crowd of men with blindness so that they stumbled and couldn't find the door. At this the two men (that were angels) said that they were going to destroy the city because the sin of the city had grown in the face of the Lord.
So, in reality, it was the very mercy of God that kept Him from destroying the cities sooner. They were so far gone and their hearts so set against God that His wrath had to be executed.
Then concerning the Great flood. It starts in Genesis chapter 6 with how wicked mankind was.
Verse 5 says And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually then verse 6 continues And it repented the Lord that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart. Of course, God doesn't need to "repent" He is sinless, and therefor there is no need of repentance. This just emphasizes how great His sorrow and pain was to see His creation become so corrupt and set against Him. A little further in verse 7 it God says I will destroy man whom I have created...for I am sorry that I have made them. We were so EVIL that God had to destroy man. But He let Noah go.
In Genesis 8:21 ...and the Lord said in His heart, I will not again curse the ground anymore for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done
I like that "the Lord said in His heart...". You see, it's not like He gets some weird, sicko enjoyment out of wiping the face of the earth clean. It has satisfied His wrath but I'm sure it's something that He had to do but would've rather not had to do it. Make sense?
Genesis 9:13 I do set my bow (rainbow) in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And I tell you now, that the rainbow represented the covenant between God and Noah before it represented the Gay community. So don't let someone tell you that because God made a rainbow it means he is Gay. Because it doesn't. That is just another lovely example of the perversion man puts on the wonderful things of God.
So, of course the person that wrote that book is going to make God sound like some cold hearted, vicious, criminal but He's not at all like that. I want to show you a wonderful example from God's word.
When John the Baptist baptizes Jesus in the Jordan river the Holy Spirit descends upon Him like a dove.
Luke 3:21,22 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the Heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from Heaven, which said, Thou art my Beloved Son; in Thee I am well pleased.
What I want to focus on right now is the dove. It says "the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove". It doesn't say Eagle, or Raven, or any other carnivorous, or dirty bird. It was a dove.
First, a dove is white. White is a symbol of purity.
The dove was the poor man's sacrifice. As rich men could offer lambs or even bulls as a sacrifice.
The dove is gentle. It is meek. It is quiet (it's not a noisy bird). It is easily startled. The dove resides in quiet areas unlike its relative the pigeon (which is noisy and lives in noisy places).
This is the picture of the Holy Spirit. Gentle, quiet, soft, pure.
Such a beautiful picture of the heart of God, yes? *tear, tear*
It's these things that the writer is leaving out. You can't just pick and choose verses in the Bible that support YOUR cause(this is a general "your", I'm not talking about you. lol.). You MUST take in to context all that is said in God's word. Even the devil will use and twist scripture. See Luke Chapter 4 That's why we must read and study, and know God's word and hide it in our hearts in truth. You know what I'm saying? So, this person has decided to read the bible and ONLY find the places where any kind of "killing" takes place and compile it into a big huge finger of blame pointing to God. That's WRONG. God is so multifaceted and so complex, we could never understand or comprehend His depth. The depth and passion of His love, the heat and intensity of His wrath, the vastness of His knowledge, the towering greatness of His power, the brightness of His glory, the sympathetic long-suffering of His mercy, and so much more than we can even imagine; the fullness of what He is, is too much for us to comprehend.
"Also it states that God made a bet with the devil."
Oh, my. So, God gambles now? No. He does not make "bets" with the devil.
Let's explore another aspect of God before we close this. God is sovereign, all-knowing, all-powerful. He knows all, and for-ordained all.
Romans 9:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, 'Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might show my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
Psalm 75:6,7 For promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: He puts down one, and sets up another.
Job 42:2 I know that you can do everything, and that no thought of Yours can be hindered.
Matthew 10:29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
God is sovereign and He knows all.
Romans 8:29 For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren.
That last verse is talking about how God knew us before the foundations of the world, He chose who would become His children and He knew all they would do; He knows all that we've done and will do, all that we will ever think and feel and believe. He knows it all.
Being that He is all-knowing, He knew and forordained Job to overcome the temptations the devil attacked him with. He didn't allow Satan to tempt Job because God knew Job would pull through. But He allowed Satan to tempt Job because He fore ordained Job to pull through. Are you following me?
There is always the possibility of failure to a bet. It's a 50/50 type of thing. God is always victor, He always prevails. God doesn't bet. He has no reason to "bet". He knows all that is and all that was, and all that is to come.
In Hebrews 12:3-11 it talks about the discipline of God.
Verse 3 speaks of Jesus For consider Him that endured such hostility of sinners against Himself, lest you be wearied and faint in your minds.
Ok. So that's saying to remember Christ suffering and what He endured for us lest we get weary and faint hearted in our hardships and sufferings.
Verse 5 (also in Proverbs3:11,12) My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of Him: For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth.
Just like a loving parent, God disciplines those He loves. That's how we become better for His glory.
Verse 10 & 11 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; (speaking of our parents) but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness.
Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
So, God chastens (or disciplines) us for our profit! It yields peaceable fruit! It makes us better for God.
Am I making sense?
That's one of the things that really peeves me, is the misconception of God's dealings with Job. It makes me so angry. Again, people point this puny, dirty finger at God telling Him about how He's wrong.
That's not how it is. God still sits on His throne, God is still reigning, God is still sovereign, even when Job doesn't understand why he is going through what he's going through.
God has His reasons for what He does. I like Romans 9:20.
Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to Him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
Who are we to question God? I know, questions come. I've asked God. I've been honest before and asked tons of questions in which it was not my place to ask them. But God still showed mercy and rebuked me with love and gentleness. But still. We are man. Limited in all aspects and prone to depravity. He is perfect, Holy, All-knowing. Anyways. I hope I have shed some light on the subject.
And remember, doctrines of this world, children of this world, the prince of this world, will do anything possible to belittle God and give Him a name of distaste. But you have to understand that that is not God.
Just like it says in Romans 1:18,21-23,25
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness...Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise they became fools, and changed the glory of God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things...Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Man, I just think those verses sum it up so well. Men will "change the truth of God into a lie". So, guard your heart and your mind from those things. Don't read those things, because they aren't truth. It's all people "suppressing the truth in unrighteousness" and changing "the glory of God into an image made like to corruptible man". Like I said, back everything with God's word. And take everything back to God's word. Don't just settle for whatever someone says because they threw a verse to back up what they're saying. Go to the word of God and ask Him, and talk to Him, and seek His truth.
I hope this helped. Let me know if you have any questions.
