# About me
Welcome to Modalt Masks, your premium source for all manner of kanohi customizations and conversions! This is really just a page to show individual pictures of these masks, because I don't want to fill my main profile with them. You can note me if you're interested in a mask, but since I don't check this profile as often it's better to e-mail modaltcom@gmail.com for commissions/purchases.Yes, I use actual Bionicle masks.
I use Citadel paints for all my masks.
General price ranges:
Paint job: $9-$11
Conversion + paint job: $12-$15

Would you like to try making some Kanohi with Masks from 2008?
Especially with the one of Solek

I might one day, I'll have to get my hands on the masks first though.

nice! i hope so.
for the Masks: I would give you the hint of bricklink.
bought there 2 2008 masks
did you ever try the ones from 2006 (inika and Piraka) ?

ModaltMasks In reply to Scacaan [2018-06-28 14:15:56 +0000 UTC]
The 2008 masks are a bit trickier, just because the rubbery material doesn't take paint well at all. It's possible to get the inika masks stiff enough if you glue them to a head and pre-treat them, but piraka are a no go due to the spines coming off of them.

Do you think you could do minfigures with molded heads if youβre paid a little extra?
π: 0 β©: 1
ModaltMasks In reply to Belicure [2018-01-30 01:03:28 +0000 UTC]
Nope, that's a bit too small and a bit too sculpting intensive for my current capabilities.
π: 0 β©: 1
Belicure In reply to ModaltMasks [2018-01-30 01:48:08 +0000 UTC]
no I'm not thinking of sculpting the molded head, I'm just thinking of painting it and added those putty features.Β

ModaltMasks In reply to Belicure [2018-02-01 02:11:13 +0000 UTC]
Yup, sculpting on additions with putty is still sculpting.

Not to keep nagging you, but arenβt minifigures roughly the same size as masks? (I canβt tell because Iβm at college where Iβm away from my legos)
π: 0 β©: 1
ModaltMasks In reply to Belicure [2018-02-01 22:12:02 +0000 UTC]
Yep, a minifigure is about the same size as a mask, but it's at a completely different scale. It's like saying a 1' tall bust and a 1' tall full body sculpture have the same level of detail on them.

Belicure In reply to ModaltMasks [2018-02-02 00:44:31 +0000 UTC]
I see. Well I guess Iβll do it myself. It doesnβt seem that hard to do but I asked because you have a magic touch (btw what brand of putty do you use?)

Is your Bricklink gone? The link doesn't work. Where are you selling your masks currently?

ModaltMasks In reply to Kayru-Kitsune [2017-11-25 00:34:41 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I switched off of bricklink a while ago since their inventory categorization didn't work well for me. I have a site here now.

Canb you suggest a brand of paint that comes in medium lilac? I want to change the colors of a few bricks for another moc (that's a system one so it would be for brick pieces)
π: 0 β©: 1
ModaltMasks In reply to Mate397 [2017-06-29 16:09:38 +0000 UTC]
The only brand that I've used extensively is Citadel, and the closest you can get using those (unless you mix colors) are daemonette hide and lucius lilac.

Got a question here, and might end up making a commission based off of it: I've kinda fallen in love with the Piraka skull base, but there are so few masks that work with it, and the vast majority are rubber monstrosities. The character I've used the Piraka skull on has had it in conjunction with a Garai, the one mask that works that wasn't made for the skulls. However, the yellow frills have set me off the mask a bit. I was wondering, is it possible to modify any other masks to work with the skulls? Alternatively, can the sides of the Garai be filed off without ruining the aesthetic of the middle section too much?

ModaltMasks In reply to LepidoliteMica [2017-04-20 15:36:22 +0000 UTC]
I can't think of any masks off the top of my head that could be modified to fit without basically cutting off the entire bottom of the mask, but cutting off the fins of the garai could definitely be done.

Helloooooo o3o I couldn't ask you this on your tumblr so I'm asking it here XD
I can't do customs for shit, and I'm broke so I can't commish you, but I wanted to get the idea out there, an Avengers: Age of Ultron-style Mask of Control or a hybrid MoC and Skull Grinder Mask. Whaddya think, is it plausible and/or would such a mask peak your interests? O3O
π: 0 β©: 1
ModaltMasks In reply to Mystic2760 [2016-12-20 21:43:30 +0000 UTC]
I don't think the combo mask would work out, the profiles of those two don't really mesh well. The Ultron one is possible though.

I am curious, and have a question. Are you okay with your customs being used for MOCs?

Yeah, I love seeing my stuff on MOCs! It's great seeing people take something I made and use it in a cool build.

Mate397 [2016-10-07 05:26:38 +0000 UTC]
Hey, I got a question, do you have official Lego colors on your palette or just colors really close to those? I'm thinking about making a Crooler MOC and that would require a slightly altered Fire Chi Cragger head (seen here www.kockaaruhaz.hu/media/catalβ¦ ), and I wasn't sure Β if the exact colors can be used. The alterations I had in mind were the eye color changed to this type of purpleΒ vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/lβ¦ while giving her some stripes like she was designed in the showΒ i.cdn.turner.com/v5cache/CARTOβ¦
I understand you're most likely still busy with other masks and everything, for now I'm just asking if my idea is even doable in the first place.

ModaltMasks In reply to Mate397 [2016-10-07 16:02:32 +0000 UTC]
I think I could get pretty close to that purple, so it's definitely doable.
