Hey, just a quick question. When doing color studies, is it more effective to study from photographs or just other Artwork? Or is studying from life the best? Thanks and sorry for all the questions.

no problem at all! i enjoy helping people, and sharing what i've learned
its a good idea to mix the two. When youre studying from life, youre focusing on understanding light, value, detail, form. direct elements of the scene and just life in general
when youre studying the work of others, youre trying to pick up on techniques. always criticize yourself and other artists as well. even the biggest artists out there have flaws in their work too that they might not have caught
Life Study = Life Understanding
Art Study = Develop technique and ideas
learn what you can and stay open to everything! hope this helps

wow thank you! for some i start with just pain black and white values and add a color layer. when i feel more confident with the color feel that i want, ill just go straight into colors. I try to mix in as many colors as i can to create my own vibe. I tend to separate colors into specific value ranges. For instance blue/red mix into shadows, and yellow green mix for light. once i get the basic color scheme down, ill add an adjustment layer to balance the colors. pushing/separating everything where i want it

Wow, I love all your work ! You express ideas so clear and simply. It comes off really strong, I love that kind of art most. What were the things that influenced you to be like that? I always strive for simiplicity and emotion too. My biggest influences are probably Apple company and early Disney

I'm not exactly sure. I've always seen more meaning towards empathy and emotions. In a painting you only have a few seconds to keep the attention of a viewer. So to me it's important to make sure the main "vibe" stands out the most. I have a fascination for very vibrant colorful lights. I get my inspiration from other artists on DA! and of course life as well. you can get tons of brilliant ideas just by taking a walk outside!
