So, uh what ever happened to the art involving zonedragon?

pony zonedragon? Gosh I drew those so long ago! I'd nearly forgotten about them.
They were posted on my original account, but I never reuploaded after I moved to this one.
They're still up on my FurAffinity though! And I wouldn't be surprised if they're floating around other people's galleries and other sites, so many people kept reposting them, it was a little ridiculous.

Yeah! References are your friend. 
I look at SenshiStock, BVS-stock, syccas-stock, and ArtistReferences a lot, but there's thousands of other really good ones for poses out there, and they'll help with anatomy too.
guidelines and using basic shapes to build your character are very important as they'll help you keep proportions in check while you're drawing.

If you're going for dynamic poses, drawing a line of action will help you get as much movement as you can into your drawings as well!

Hope that helps as a starting point, don't be ashamed to use references! Trace if you need to at first, but don't rely on it and if you're going to upload things online, remember to properly link your sources!
