I think at this point the seven deadly sins are well known in culture, and I think the virtues are as well.  There's even a series of sexy pin-up characters created to make figures based on the sins and virtues in Japan

My sin would be, idk, sloth, maybe? Haven't really thought about it before.

I've mostly been watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Dr. Stone and a couple of random things.  I want to watch the Good Omens Amazon Prime series, but I want to finish the book first. 

I've heard of Kare Kano, but never watched/read it.

I'm fairly familiar with CLAMP.  I love Cardcaptor Sakura, have read the manga series several times, and watched the show.  I read a bunch of Tsubasa Chronicles, but then sort of lost interest with it and haven't caught up with it in a while.  I did watch Rayearth, though it's been a while.

I was reading the Pumpkin Scissors manga, though I need to finish it.  

Kenichi: History's Strongest Disciple was actually one of my favorite series for a while!  I just got very disappointed in it as it went on and basically became soft-core porn, and had a very bad ending.

I've heard of the Fate series, but I've never been interested so never watched any of it.

Hahahaha you're exactly spot on inmy criticisms on Kenichi. While I'm fine with some fanservice, the extent it was getting into near the end was really grating-and I say that as a Shigure fanboy!Even fanservice of her became very off-settinga nd even inappropriate even for a series aimed at teens. Not to mention the end series started going DBZ and getting ridiculous power boosts for every new fights and some of the penultimate battles is basically the same as the last irritating Hades Arc  of Saint Seiya. THe battle between Apachi and his evil counterpart seemed to be all about taking turns hitting each other and Apachi winning via Pegasus Insanity as a prime example (god I hated that fight so much, it reminds me everything I hated about the final Hades Arc).

Not to mention they practically gave uo the realistic and clever martial arts battle as they attempted to hype up the series's power and enemy threats.  I wish they stuck it to YYH nad just left it at earth level threats.

Also Kenichi came off as weak as Seiya did near the end. I found myself rooting more for some of the villains esp Tanimoto instead of the good guys.

You can safely wait for a whilein regards to Pumpkin Scissors. So far the manga isn't even close to reaching midway thought helot and the mangaka mentions he intends to stay long fora bit so long as he maintains enough popularity to do so. Its why I chose to watch the anime instead of themanga.

Clamp's lesser known series are very good such as Kobato. As a rule of thumb any thing that apeared in Tsubasa I recommend you read the original series they came from. I was surprised how good Chobits, Angelic Layer, and other cross over series were in their original form. I know you are very bushy nowadays as opposed to back when Saint Seiya Fan Forums was still up but I recommend at least reading xxxHolic (as this series was made to be a cross over with Tsuvasa and ran simultaneously) and Kobato (this one is really that good esp its 26 episode anime adaptation).

The first Fate/Stay Night anime is legitimatley goodenough on its own I recommend it and the sequels are much weaker but still good enough to view on their own. If you want, I know how you can download the original Visual Novelthe franchise is based on. Trust me its really worth reading even if you don't like visual novels! But if you can't play the VNs, the fist anime is a faithful adaptation.

While we are at it, have you watched Samurai Champloo, Afro Samurai, S-Cry-Ed, and Trigun back during the Adult Swim days? Are you also familiar with Love Hina, Ahh My Goddess, Tenchi, Princess 9,Blue Seed, Silent Mobius and Bubblegum Crisis?

Oh I almost forgot are you familiar with Sakura Taisen? Sega recently announced a new project. If you followed ADV back in the day, you probably know about the OVA and TV series they licnensed over.

Have you ever watched XIaolin Showdown BTW? I finished LEgend of Korrah recently so I thought to bring that up.

Kenichi just did Shigure so dirty at the end of the series! She, and most of the other female characters, just got reduced to fanservice characters.  Even the main villain ended up getting that treatment in the end, because she had big boobs.  But yeah, Kenichi itself seemed to loose a lot of itself once it stopped focusing on Kenichi and his friend and started focusing more on the masters.  I wouldn't have minded so much if they had just left it as Kenichi facing the apprentices, and that being the main focus, but instead it just seemed to become more about the weird powers.

Even the designs for the female characters really changed over the course of the series.  And it's not like with other series where the art is getting better.  It just gets more...porny.  Compare Miu's first appearance with her ending appearance.  She barely looks like the same character.

Xxxholic is very good, I haven't managed to finish it yet though.  I get distracted by other things.

Back in the 2000s Silent Mobius was one of the more obscure gateway series. When TechTV used to be o I used to watch it on its Anime Unleashed block. Its quite a good series but I recommend the manga since in hindsight the TV series is very bad esp as an adaptation (despite my childhood nostalgia with it). The manga was one of the first things NOrth AMerica got completed in its full serializations in the 90s so it was also quite popular among Otakus back when anime was a niche. 

Bubblegum Crisis used to be one of the series ADV licensed. I used to watch some DVDs of the TV series so I too have memories.

Which Sakura Taisen did you exprerience? ADV licsned the series years ago and it was a flagship title for the company. Someone is currently attemptng a translaton patch of the first game! Hopefully the new game is localized because the only thing we got in the West is the 5th game.

What do you think of Rachel? SHe is the only fanservice person If ound acceptable by the time the rest of the manga was rolling. I think she ifts perfectly with fanservice. WHat I don't like is how they turned preeviously chaste characters like the Old Kung Fu fighter's daughter into a porn eye candy.

Yes I don't mind striptease of say Miu and Shigure every ow and than and I even completely accept a completley fanservice female such as Rachel! But they really went overboard, in some cases even attemmpting some striptease and inappropriate implicaions with peple like Kenichi's sister! 

The writer should have just stuck with giving all the fanservice to Rachel and only left some rated T fanservice for Miu and Shigure! Because many incidents like that Shigure interrogation scene was very irritating!

In fact while Rachel initially surpassed Shigure as my fav  because she is fanservice eyecandy, by the end of the series Rachel lost her impact on me because pratically everyone from school teachers to Kenichi's mom was given enticing screen panels.

Even I no longer like Shigure because of how much they made her into a manga version of Taki from Soulcalibur!

I've seen a bit of the anime series years ago, and I have a friend who talked a lot about the stage play.

Normally I don't like fanservice characters, but Rachel was actually the exception. I find her hilarious and fun, because she's so shamless and open about it.  She's actually the only one that I don't feel uncomfortable with the fanservice because she's clearly having fun doing it and doesn't look uncomfortable or ashamed.  She's just open that she does it to herself just to get attention.

I honestly dislike most fanservice, but endure it in most shonen series because I like the story/characters. Even when it's uncomfortable and annoying for me when the entire story screeches to a halt just to oogle at uncomfortable/embarrassed/ashamed girls.

What do you think of Hermit/Tanimoto? He's hands down my fav in the entire franchise.

In addition did you know Kenichi is actually a remake of an earlier manga? Before Kenichi, there was a 6 volume series. Its even far more realistic than Kenichi was except for one battle between the masters and ...... well there is plenty and plenty of surprises including the final big bad!

I definitely recommend reading the original 6 volume story Kenichi is a remake of! I actually think its far superior than the last arcs of Kenichi! Reading it really makes me wonder how Kenichi would have turned out if they didn't go ahead and retcon the whole story from the beginning.

Yes, I'm a Naruto fan!  Hinata is actually one of my favorites!  Though my absolute fav is Iruka.  I also like Gaara and Shino.

WHat do  you think of  Sakura? I actually preferred her to HInata for Part 1 but the SHippuden chapters really screwed her over formeand I began to prefer HInata (even thoughI already liked her pre time skip espin fillers such as the BIrochu episodes). While themanga couldhave put more time for Hinata, the way they handled Sakua reallyd ropped my favoritism and mademelean towards Hinata.

Whichis why when I watchShippuden I'mreally excited since I heard they gave entire arcs to Hinata and also Tenten (who I also like but felt was underultilized).

Even though she was still a minor character, the development they gave heroinPart 2 really mademefondof Hinata.

I really loved Sakura's perosnality as a kid she had a ertain charm,esp thatalter ego she had in herthoughts that wasa differentpersonality.

I didn't likehow the Shipuden 2nd half removedmuch of that alterego.

Sakura is a character that had so much potential and has a lot of powers I liked, but I feel like the mangaka didn't know what to do with her aside from being in love with Sasuke.  She deserved so much better, it really sucks. I love strong healer characters, so she could have done a lot more if you focused on what she wanted for herself.   Hinata was always my favorite, because I identified with her more, but I still really like Sakura.

What do you think of Anko? SHe's my favorite Genin hands down and despite fan anger, I find her chubby appearance in Boruto cute!

I do respect how Sakura was willing to kill Sasuke out of responsibility and how she was willing to risk loving Naruto just for the sake of protecting him from love's way.

HOwever I feel the real underrated guy is Kiba and Aka! Even Tenten has a larger following despite appearing almost nonexistent in the manga and people thrown off screen like Kurenei still played an important role in the Shippuden chapters. Kiba despite taking a big level in power boost and Akamaru becoming cooler, were practically neglected! ANd not popular by the fandom to boot!

BTW did you find Naruto annoying at first?  Hokage Naruto is among my favs but I found kid Naruto quite irritating!

Anko is okay?  I never had a strong opinon about her.

Sakura had her moments, but sometimes I felt like they weren't really moment's dedicated to her as a character or about her own development.  It was more about the other characters, and she just happened to be doing something that was about them and thier development.

Kiba definitely has his own passionate fans!  They're just a smaller group than the others, but yeah, he got robbed of screentime later on.  Aside from Hinata, most of Kurenei's team seem to get that treatment.

Naruto was the typical loud shonen protag, so I didn't really like his character trope, but I found Sasuke more annoying.

I love Anko because I identify with her gluttony so much! I can identify with her eating problems lol.

Now that you mentioned it, I can't believe I forgot Shino. Considering how a big Badass he was in Part 1, I was disappointed we didn't see more of him! Well at least he still played an important role via being the scouting network of the ninjas esp in the 4th Ninja War. But I would havel oved to see him bring more interesting bug abilities. Esp since the Birochu filler in the first anime brought up so much cool worldbuilding about the verse and I was hoping to see more insects like Birochu in the rest of the manga.

I don't think we ever saw Kurenei in the 4th Ninja War. Its a shame the anime showed how much potential she had esp with her first failed student filler shown really strong character development. She had so much cool powers she could have been an interesting support role in the 4th Ninja War!

Naruto started out annoying indeed but I really liked him as hokage. While he still has some comedy side,its no longer annoyingly mischievious and he's pretty mature as an adult. Its funny because I never thought he would grow up into taking paperwork seriously!

How do you like Hokage Naruto (esp compared to his younger self)? I consider him my favorite Hokage thus far!

Sasuke am I the only one who finds him my fav?  Yes the depths of his bloodlust for vengeances is insane....... But thats precisely why I love him. Believe it or not people like Sasuke exist irl. Whole wars started because of people like Sasuke in real history and politics. His willingness to destroy Konoha in Itachi's memory shows just how intense his love was as well as his relationship with Naruto. his betrayal of Naruto was one of the moment's when Naruto begins to dive away from the extroverted bragging Shonen hero-it was really a crying moment for me when he realized Sasuke really intended to kill him and he began to weep in heavy tears. 

And thatss why I love the Sasuke vs Naruto rivalry. It technically isn't even a rivalry by traditional terms but it shows a depth of beyond rivalry cliches.

I actually became more interested in Shino when I watched a tiny bit of Boruto.  I have such mixed feelings on that whole mess, but seeing Shino was a caring teacher and hearing them say he could have been special ops easily if he had really wanted to go that route was nice.

Kurenei unfortunately fell pray to the anime trope of 'a female character can only be cool until she's married/has a kid.  Then she has to be a stay-at-home mom/housewife'.  Which...she would have been a single mom, and working to support her daughter.  She could have still been cool with that! So all her potential got zapped because her being a sad housewife was more important.

I love Naruto's character growth!  it really showed how he matured.  I'm not sure I agree with all the choices they made for his character, but he came out really well.

And Sasuke was one of the, if not the  most popular character for a time.  He had an interesting story, but it was dragged on so long that people got tired of him and how he treated everyone around himself.  See, during the first part of the series I could see him and Naruto having a bond 'like brothers'.  But after?  During Shippuden?  Nope.  They barely interacted for most of it, years as the manga was published, and you forgot why they were supposed to be so close.  Honestly, it felt like even though Naruto and Sakura cared about Sasuke, he didn't care about them at all.  His marriage to Sakura just feels weird because of that.  When I finally caught up on the end of the manga I expected Sasuke and Sakura to have a moment together or something but...nope.   And the finally battle between Sasuke and Naruto that cost them their arms made a lot of people annoyed because there was absolutely no point to it anymore.   It was just thrown in for cheap fanservice because the mangaka wanted to write a 'fully circle' ending where they fought like before, but had forgotten to write a moment like that in organically.  So just tacked it onto the end.   That entire final battle was just Sasuke being an ass out of nowhere. 
And then he's just allowed to live in the village during Boruto despite all he's done and his crimes because....he's Naruto's 'close friend' I guess.   His 'exile' for years while he abandoned Sakura to raise their daughter alone was more self-imposed than anything else and he would have been allowed back in.

...Well that's someone's opinion?  I tend not to stress out over what other people think of a series if I enjoy it.   That reminds me of the people recently that have been attacking the Persona 5 fandom because they're made Joker go into Smash.  It means nothing, and doesn't affect my opinion of the series.

The real reason I bought that up is when I finished reading Naruto, I was extremely surprised at the total sales! The person who wrote the article shocked me more because what he said about Naruto just being behind Dragon Ball by a few ten million sales was even more shocking!

Back when Saint Seiya Fan Forums was still  up I used to join the hate bandwagon with Mewzard and other members and relentlessly attack the series even though I never watched it. Which is why I found the post quite a dejavu as members at the SSFan site including me used to say stuff like that.

IDK but its a recurring attitude in anime forums and I even initially was going to give Naruto a chance but groupthink at places like Saint Seiya Fan Forum influenced me into hating it without actually watching it.

I do notice its not just anime/manga. Have you seen the console wars and bashing exclusive killer apps simply because its on another console? It happens in every hobby from athletes you never seen in performance to movies you never seen.

Honestly, I made a decision a few years ago to just focus on stuff I like because that sort of attitude started annoying me after I noticed it.  So now I tend to do my best to ignore it entirely, and don't respond when someone tries to draw me into a hate-fest.  I'll give my opinion about things I dislike of course, but not....focusing entirely on that.
