Hey, I saw your work on Painters. I saw the resemblence to Andrew Wyeth's work immediatly- and going through your gallery, I can even see some of his motifs, like the threshold in Shell room and boats in Low Tide... Good paintings and good gallery.

Amazing gallery, you have a well tuned skill. I'm wondering though, do you use goache or masking fluid for your works at all?

there are wise words in your "Personal Aesthetic Philosophy". and, more important these words are not only wise, they are true. it's seldomly seen here in dA that one has not only some deeper thoughts, but writes these down and show in every piece of his artwork, that those written words incorporate some deep relation to his soul and personality.

i'm not a notive english-speaker. so oversee any errors, which might be in my comment. i hope. the sense is clear.
keep your artwork up and go YOUR way. your own personal way.

best regards

I like that her face is blurry, like even she doesn't know whether she's staring off into the distance or looking at the door from the corner of her eye, even though the house is empty, she expects someone to come out and put a hand on her shoulder. Maybe it's just me. I love it.

MrsReba In reply to DemonicAce [2005-02-05 18:59:55 +0000 UTC]

And your point would be? If you check you would see that the gallery pictures were posted on the same day that he joined DA. Many users do that...

As to the Ducks vs. Geese thing... geese, chicken, ducks, falcons, other members of the feathered clan... the fact that the description is wrong doesn't negate the validity of the fact that he PAINTED it.

I know Reg. I've seen his work. Hell, I own some of it. Crow's Feet hangs in my living room. Red, White, and Blue now belongs to a friend of mine. We also have other pieces which are not here at DA.

I've seen your gallery - all two pieces of it - and read your comments regarding your own art ability and knowledge of art. With that in mind, do you think you should be attacking artists like Regis Holland?

MrsReba In reply to DemonicAce [2005-02-19 18:21:37 +0000 UTC]

Its HER brother, not HIS.

Regis is much more talented at art than he is at the computer and that is where we, his sister and I, come in. We created and hosted his first website for him at webphantasia.com/RegisHolland ([link] ), and then helped to move him here.

What one should learn from this? Ask questions first BEFORE jumping to conclusions. You might find that your perceptions are incorrect. This is not knowledge, it is wisdom, and it comes from experience.

~DemonicAce (#111513721),

Yes, you did apologize, to a point. You left one little barb left... The "I do hope that you two also learned a lesson from this... I Also hope that you got permission from Regis before you started that website." statement. WTF was that?

Let's put on our LOGICAL hats for a moment shall we? Of course we did! He wanted us to do it. What would make you think that HIS SISTER and I did not have permission to put up HIS work under HIS name on a site for HIM? I guess that is the point that I am having a problem with. I could understand if we had used his work on a site without naming him or that was not for/about him - then yes by all means you, and the rest of the world, would have the right to question our motives.

If you'd like to, you are welcome to write him an e-mail at his address on deviantart OR contact him at the contact info posted on his regular (non-da) website webphantasia.com/RegisHolland/regis.htm ([link] ) for clarification. He'll tell you himself that he's not all that good with computers (his words). That's why we've done this.

I'm not mad. I'm not trying to "rub it in" or make you apologize. You chose a public forum to question her/us/him so I am simply doing the same by replying to you in public. You've throw a shadow of doubt over Regis' work, his posting on DA, and his reputation here. THAT is what I have a problem with. I've been part of his family for going on 10 years now. Regis is every bit the talent represented here, on DA, and more. The mere fact that he has family helping him does not diminish that fact and I will not let anyone who doesn't have a valid point mar his name.

So, if you are going to apologize, then apologize, but don't make it conditional.

DemonicAce In reply to MrsReba [2005-02-20 18:07:58 +0000 UTC]

You make it sound like i insulted him or something... i find his work very awsome and i Do belive that he, himself created it. You just failed to tell me that he wanted you to post his work on the net. For all i knew... you could have been posting it without him knowing.

I guess its none of my business. Im tired. Good day to you...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MrsReba In reply to DemonicAce [2005-02-21 05:12:44 +0000 UTC]

I honestly do see your point and I understand its validity. What I do not understand is why, if you were truly concerned, you did not report it to Deviant Art and allow them to ask the correct questions? If an infraction was made, and it wasn't, it would've been on their system and they would have had the right to ask for clarification. You would have acted in the correct and responsible manner by reporting it and then going about your business. Questioning it on a comment and/or note is not correct form, is irresponsible, and downright rude. To be more to the point, you are right - it isn't any of your business IF you fail to act in the responsible and correct manner.

Now, I have nothing against you. I don't want to hurt you, offend you, or continue this in any manner that would be harmful to you. If in the future you, or anyone else, comes across a posting that seems a little "off" then don't challenge the poster, report it to DA and allow them to handle it. It will save everyone a lot of grief. That is what the admins are for.

So, I'm offering to start over... shake hands so to speak and walk away with a clean slate... what do you say?

Undercover-Archangel In reply to DemonicAce [2005-02-05 19:16:35 +0000 UTC]

Ok...to set the record straight...I started this profile for my brother, who is the artist. I posted the pictures of his artwork to get him international exposure....I submitted the description of each painting and I was the one who mislabeled the "geese" as "ducks"....I'm so sorry, didn't realize this would put such a cramp in your day.
I, too, checked out your page and I would comment on it, but hey, this is not a forum where bashing takes place...this is a forum for art appreciation....did ya catch that, ART....not a wildlife information site....
Anyway, just couldn't stand-by and let you deface my brother's work, especially since the error in the decription was mine, but your attack was against him and his talent...I'm hoping you'll think next time before you open your mouth and question someone's work on this website

Im just paranoid like that... art thives can make anyone paranoid... i hope you got your brothers permission to post it...

To DemonicAce:
Apology accepted.
I got my brother involved in DeviantArt to assist him in getting the exposure that his art deserves...I merely set him up and let his peers judge his work and it came back with an awesome response (a daily deviation on his first day), as I expected it would.
As I've said before, I don't want him to be one of those artists who dies and they come into his house to clear out his belongings and find a treasure of art in his attic...and all at once, he's famous! I want that for him now and I think DeviantArt can get him started in that direction. I thank all of those you have come forward and commented on his work.
DemonicAce, I promise to study my feathered friends more closely
My goes out to my big bro....I'm so proud of you!
