Okay! XD So my dilemma is about the gods in my story. So there's Sinu, Eurobos, Cirtcele, and Genesis. There's shrines to these said gods (Kinda like this [link] )
But that brings up the issue. I can't decide whether the people should know that Sinu, Eurobos, Cirtcele, and Genesis are gods or not. Cuz' the shrines will look like them if that's the case, and if that's the case then I know someone will come whining to them to fix something trivial.

Well, they're ancient gods, right? You could make it so they have shrines, but the statue's faces are hidden or destroyed (internal god fight/insult to opposing gods?) and any inscriptions on said shrines are worn away/in some ancient language nobody/almost nobody can read?

I was thinking that, and decided it would work best (I'm NOT coming up with separate designs, darn it!)
That, or masks. Maybe some of the gods in this culture wear masks? Either way, probably make them concealed or hidden, since you're right on making the shrines incredibly old (maybe people don't know who created them?
So then like, for Eurobos' shrine, which has his mouth gaping open (fire is placed in his mouth) everything will just be worn, but you'll still see some features. And because of the fire it'll probably be scorched here and there. And I like the idea of the inscriptions.
And another thing, the gods will have separate names. Like their god names and then their "surface" names. I.e, Cirtcele is his "surface" name. While Kazken is his god name.
