Hey, it's been a while, I've taken interest in 3D images, and your deviantArt (esp. Reinvigoration, it's my favorite.) comes to my mind. Did you undergo some kind of tutorials or you've tried doing it by yourself? Where should I start making 3D artwork like yours? Thanks!!

Hey!
Sorry for the late reply, it's nice to hear that you thought about me
I rarely watched tutorials, most of the time I just read documentations, lots and lots of documentations That way you don't just know what to do, but you understand it as well!
It takes time, and don't try to master every aspect at once, start with modeling simple objects, create different materials for them and set up some sort of lighting, take a look into texturing, after that you can go deeper.
I use 3dsMax, it's an object-oriented program, it's mainly used for creating models for games. Most people in the CG/movie industry uses Maya, it's a node-based 3D program.
You could try Blender as well since it's free, it's node-based like Maya. I tried to switch once, but I couldn't, because I pretty much got used to 3dsMax's UI.

Yeah, I guess I'll try out Blender first, does what I'll learn in Blender could be useful when I start to use object-oriented program such as 3dsMax? How different are the development of 3D scene between a node-based and object-oriented-based program?

Ricsmond In reply to KrissSpore [2018-09-06 19:31:45 +0000 UTC]
If you start with blender and like it, I think you should go towards maya since it's more robust (and generally used in the industry)
Node based and object oriented 3d programs are similar, the UI and the approach is a bit different.
For example: In maya, you link attributes to an object, in max, you apply modifiers to an object.

Thank you!
I've been alright and yes I'm still alive xD
I've had exams, so I kinda ignored the internet (at least some parts of it). For now, I think it was worth it, since I'm part of the 30% who passed this semester
Also been working on getting a drivers' license. I'm almost there, but I decided to delay that exam while I've been doing my uni exams.
How have you been?

You're not dead yass!
30%? it was definitely worth it!
I graduated and now I'm officially a "higher technician" or whatever this translates to. It was stressing and lots of work to do (140 pages written, 2 Raspberry Pi's, a camera, 1500+ lines of code over 5 languages and small electronic circuit). But we got the highest grade on record!
Now I don't know what to do with my lifeam looking for freelance and improving my 3D skills

Ricsmond In reply to AbdouBouam [2018-07-04 18:22:13 +0000 UTC]
Yey! \o/
You're so high It's awesome that you got the highest grade, participate in competitions and such and you'll get a job in no time!
I should get back to 3D-ing soon as well (but the problem is that when I have the time I don't have the inspiration and vice versa)

AbdouBouam In reply to Ricsmond [2018-07-04 18:32:59 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, if only that grade meant anything. Oh well, I can hang that diploma somewhere in my room and never use it again
YeahΒ I think that's what I'm going to do. I'm polishing my portfolio and at the same time I'm writing a plugin and making models for sale
Exactly! that's why I tried to make a schedule and force myself to learn instead of creating something that needs inspiration

Nice to have something on your wall that's not digital nowadays I guess, printed media is dying
Yep, I should do that as well, and that was what I used to do years ago, but I could only keep up with it for a few weeks per go.
My urges for procrastination are too strong Though I have my excuses

Indeed! I won't be missing it much anyway
isn't procrastination, by definition, finding excuses to not do something?

Hmmm... You're right, but it's not like I wouldn't want to be productive, it's just that I need at least 2 hours at a time for me to get immersed in such things.
I'll see if my new job's gonna let me get back into 3D even if not, I'll try to be less lazy and I'll just create random things

or, you know, just grab the default cube, duplicate it and use hundreds of boolean modifiers to create something
But yeah, understandable. Good luck with your new job!

3ds max's test model with Blender's test model, what could possibly go wrong?

Yeah, sometimes checking back on here is worth it, but the community is mostly dead. D:
I'm doing fine, busy with work and uni (I'm through my exams, so it's only work for now )
I'm not sure I'm gonna get on chats, but I'll see sometime maybe.

I was already through my exams, there was nothing left to rock
Since then I've been on vacation and after that I was at work again and time flies too fast

You're right, though I shouldn't rock my socks too often, rough rocks may make my socks have holes in them
I've had a great time, I got the opportunity to see the sea

Wooo, the sea is awesome! I miss it! I so miss diving as well, I got the chance to do that last year, and it was SO great

This probably has some errors, but I'm not a programmer
I wanted to be a programmer back when I was in high school, but school made me hate it by teaching us crappy languages.

Haven't used getline before, but I think the correct is
If (std::cin.getline(message,256)="happy birthday") { std::cout<<"thank you!"<

Close enough
It's too late for me to start programming
Or in other words, I don't want to branch out in too many directions.

I made a mistake, you should use a double "=" for comparison, one single means assigning and it will give an error when compiling, if I remember well.
I know what you mean

because i thought i would add your name to complete it...
the variable HUG has happy birthday in it, so i set it and echo the variable with your name to complete it
HUG="happy birthday "
echo $HUG Ricsmod
....im still learning on other aspects in bash... this will be a long ride
