Well I've let it passed since so I'm not sure why it's still relevant especially when it's been that long... if I was being 'sensitive' as you say, it's because I think it's rude to tell someone how to go about their art just because of what you like personally - constructive criticism is fine and always welcome but to say you were disappointed on how I decided to work towards a style you apparently hated is a personal and subjective thing. Just because you like something more doesn't make it more valid and unless you were paying me to draw in a certain style, you have no right to tell me how I should draw. A style is more than just a 'look' - it's an artist's interpretation. I would rather have my own style than draw in a way that is 'popular'. I hope you understand

That makes sense, but someone who watches you and a fan of your work also has a right to air their opinion.  Especially if they are someone who really looks forward to seeing what you'll work on next.  How someone wants to draw is fine, but someone could be disappointed because feelings change as style changes.

As I've said before, you are entitled to likes and dislikes just as everyone else is but I DON'T OWE YOU for how I decide to go about my art - if you want to watch me then that's up to you, I'm not making you do it or anything so it's rude and selfish to push your opinion on the artist like that.  Some of the artists I watch draw stuff from time and time again that I mightn't like but I don't say stuff like that.  I just comment and fave the stuff that I enjoy and the rest you don't have to look at if that's how you fee because it's PERSONAL and has nothing to do with being constructive if you can understand the difference.  If you like it then I appreciate that but if you don't then that's fine and I don't expect everyone to like everything I draw.

That's fine.  But what you're saying is basically, "Comment on things you do like, and do not voice your disapproval on things that you don't".  I don't really understand that.  That's not taking the good with the bad.  Guess what?  Everything that anyone feels about someone's art is a personal opinion.  Also, all comments do not have to be constructive, I've also never really understood that.

If someone comments, "Wow! I think that's amazing!  I really like it!"  artists normally say "Thank you" and do not ask them what they like about it or encourage them to tell exactly what it is, they take it and move on.  When an artist tells them, "I hate this work, I really think this is bad", artists will say, "Hey, that's not constructive at all, if you're going to say something you don't like you need explain it".  It's kind of wrong how people can do one thing without the other.

I've commented on other works of yours saying how I liked the style or the way things came out, and I've commented saying how I didn't like things and all of that.  You've really got to take the good and the bad, not just chastise someone because they voiced an opinion you weren't all gung-ho for, especially someone who has shown love for your previous work.

I recommend saying, "No negative or positive comments without either one being constructive" IF you want to be FAIR.

Look, I don't know why I bother as most artists simply ignore this sort of thing and don't reply.  There's a difference between constructive and outright rude and you don't seem to understand where that line is.  I've already tried to explain and if you still don't get it then good luck. 

All I did was say thanks and you had to drag something from the bygone past back and keep pushing it....

I just like to see what's in people's minds and how they feel about certain things.  I just like how humans work, if that makes any sense at all.  

True, I understand why you would not like it but, I don't see why not chalk everything up to personal preference and just let people say what they want, you know?  But people have said that artists are sensitive creatures, like Common's song "Fragile", and a quote for it, "You don't understand why I'm so pissed?  Cause I'm an artist, yes I'm sensitive about my shit".  So, I do get what you're saying.

Well, most artist I have discussion with reply back because I word things in a way that would irritate you not to respond since it kind of questions your morality.  That's just kind of how it's setup to make sure I get a response back and stuff.

I appreciate you for responding back and giving me your feed back on this.  I just wanted to know where you stand and if you were really good about things so there wouldn't be any problems if I started to once again comment on your work.  I was really bummed I got that type of response from you initially, and I believe I might have been blocked (Don't remember).  I just hate when people blast me for comments they don't like, but at least you got some type of reasoning behind it.

There's a way of getting into someone's mind besides just saying "I don't like it"  You need to criticize in a way that is meaningful.  See it this way: if I said that to you about your art just because I don't like the style, no other reason, I don't think you'd be too pleased.  How does that help and how was I supposed to respond to that?

If I do give feedbacks on other ppl's art, I always endeavour to tell them what I like because - lighting, contrast etc and also give critique on things they can work on improving where I can see.  If I don't like the style or the subject, that's just my problem, not the creator.  It's like when I prefer to draw Vega blond while others might like him brunette, neither is right or wrong - just a preference and really doesn't add anything to make an argument out of it hence why I don't think it's necessary to bring personal preferences up.

I only block ppl I consider beyond reasoning and/or are just plain trolls so I appreciate you trying to make sense of it all, but in future just think about how you word your comments.

Well, it's a difference if someone comments and say they do not like my style versus "I don't like the style change of your art, I like the old one better".  Kind of like when my one friend got mad that I hated her new coloring style, preferences are preferences though, either way.  If someone did not like my new style but I did, I'd be more of "I'm sorry you feel that way" and just move on.  That's just me though.

Your example is different.  Vega has been portrayed as Brunette and as Blonde, and his alternate colors has him as either or.  Most of the time, people gravitate towards the style they want to draw in and usually remain in there or refine it.

yeah well see that's the thing... you may feel that way when someone says it, but most artists get 'mad' because it's a very dismissive comment to make because it doesn't take into account of what they're trying to achieve through experimenting because you're seeing it only through your own perspective.  Art is a journey and you go further when you venture beyond what you know and are comfortable with.

I've got to improve dramatically, but I shall do so with time!  Also, what about you?  I see you draw as well and are building up a nice gallery for yourself.  I see you use a mix of traditional and digital media.  Lol, I've never been good with traditional coloring or traditional inking, I just suck at it.
