aww that sucks....it doesn't seem like anyone cares about a Kuro gathering this year though :/ so....idk if they're going to have one this year,I'm gonna be upset if they don;t...I mean I was gonna bring my wonderful Ciel cosplay to be in the group
But why aren't you going I mean you went every year.Have you retired?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shunhades In reply to KathytheGoth [2014-06-14 03:16:32 +0000 UTC]

No i'm not retired. I'm realistic. I have bills to pay. And if all goes well I maybe going to a university sometime next year (towards the middle of the year). So I want to try to pay off my bills before I go so I don't have to worry about them.

try google searching it. No one typically posts about it in the AX site. And someone most likely is gonna do it. There's one every year.

Oh yes. That.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KathytheGoth In reply to Shunhades [2014-06-14 03:34:30 +0000 UTC]

Ah I understand,I suggest you take care of that first,Idk if I'll make it to AX next year because I'm probably gonna be paying college, but if so I guess I wouldn't mind taking a break from AX,it'll suck but sometimes we gotta take care of the important things first you know.

Oh thank you!I just googled it and I found a facebook page and hopefully it will be held on Day 1 because they were thinking of putting it on Day 4 and I'm not going on Day 4....however the downside is I was gonna originally cosplay BRS on day 1 because in the line its so hot, when I was BRS I was wearing a jacket but was half dressed underneath so it didn't make it so bad but still....and my Ciel cosplay makes me prone to sweat so much Idk what to do....but maybe I'll think of somethingΒ
Its just on the AX forumns they are posting schedule updates for the gathering and I didn't see Kuro at all so I got worried but looks like someone is hosing it phew....

Yeah but no worries my big bro is taking me this year ^^ and he's no dictatorΒ

Ummm...no offense dude, but it's not really a suggestion if I state it myself. I clearly stated why I was not going to AX this year or any con for that matter.

Everyone sweats at anime cons, no big deal.

Yeah, no one really posts on the ax forums. Cause then you can't find it even when they do.

Well that's nice of him.

Oh no i'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to come out as aggressive. I wasn't even upset when I messaged you back. I just wanted to give you some clarity on it.

You're probably not saying things wrong, as it's being said in a way not intended.

Like how you thought I was being aggressive, when I was making an explaination.

So what now? You gonna go to college?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KathytheGoth In reply to Shunhades [2014-06-18 17:49:28 +0000 UTC]

Well I want to but there are a set of problems....1.Financially 2.Transportation 3.My lack of knowledgeΒ

The teachers at school expect that I start in the fall but honestly they don't understand....I applied for financial aid and you know what?I didn't get anything at all because according to the gov Β my family is too "rich" for grants...its not fair either because we AREN'T rich,if we put in all the money for college we would go into deep dept and that's not good...especially since my parents and family have bills to pay for and any emergencies that can happen....I highly doubt I will be ready in the fall plus the college is WAY too far from my house, its so far even the bus stops are too far from my house so I don't know how I'm going to get to school nobody can take me,I dont have a car to drive, and I barely know how to drive,I can drive a little bit but not enough to get into the street,I barely can control the steering wheel yet....
And its not fair that the University had to be close to my house and not the community college...I can't go to the University because I am not smart enough to go and its way too expensive,my brother goes there and he can barely afford it....my family was put through hard dept at some point because of his college intuition.
It also doesn't help with the fact that I applied for 2 scholarships but I never got anything back...

Fuck Nevada....worst state ever for education...just thinking about this makes me want to cry because i don't know what i'm going to do....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shunhades In reply to KathytheGoth [2014-06-18 19:54:34 +0000 UTC]

That sucks, but if you work on your driving, maybe eventually you can go to the community college which is cheaper. Universities don't necessarily offer a better education than a community college. In fact where I live, our community college offers a better education than the university, and at a much cheaper cost. Yes they only go up to an associates degree, but if you think on it it's enough to get you started in the long run.

As someone who's in the same position as you I know how you feel. I'll be going to a university next year, and you wanna know how i'ma pay for it? College loans. Because I can't afford to pay out of pocket. It'll suck, but it's better than nothing. The jackass that is my father will be helping me with rent and small stuff. But either way the majority of my loan is gonna go to classes, books, supplies, etc. Hopefully after I get my bachelors, i'll be able to get a good job with my degree.

Also I was one of those people who took the bus to get to college before I could drive. It sucked, but I did what I had to do, and i'd gotten a job, so I worked (still do) while going to school. When I go to university i'm going to ask the college if I can work part time (It's the type of college where you need permission to work). Which i'll only be allowed to work 28 hours a week (I'm used to 40 hours a week which is full time), but that would be better than no income at all in my case.

I also did not go to college immediately for the same reason. My parents made too much money for me to qualify for a grant, so for over a year I was a NEET. Because I decided to just take time off for myself. Something I honestly do recommend if school stresses you out like it did me. After that I got a job, and eventually I qualified for grants.

It was exhausting at first, but very much worth it. Also most of the time I went to college part time. I have no shame in that.

Also stop putting yourself down. You just graduated high school. Do you realize you're one of a certain percent of people who actually graduate high school? You should be proud of this. Not as many people as you think graduate high school. Most people get tired of it, then later get a GED, which takes more work to pass than if a person stayed in high school. And some people don't even bother with getting the GED.

My recommendation, you can do either one of several things. Do what I did and take a year or so off. Or get a job. Or you could take a year or so off and then get a job. You could look into technical schools, etc. You have a variety of choices, you just have to look.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KathytheGoth In reply to Shunhades [2014-06-19 21:35:37 +0000 UTC]

Well at the moment I am going to be job hunting so that I can at least be working if I won't be in school this fall,I am working on driving I barely started a a couple months ago after I got my permit.
Its just I still fear driving in the street with all the terrible drivers in my town, one of the reasons why I hate this town, its the worst with drivers so it makes it even more dangerous. Some people Idk how they got their license in the first place

College loans? You mean those where you burrow money from the gov and then after you pay it all back?Ouch that sounds like a debt for life though...but many do it because it helps them out.

I still find it unfair that I can't get a grant because my parents income, just because they make a lot of money together a year doesn't mean we are rich, over half that money goes to bills, payments, food, and other important things that need to be paid for.The gov just wants us to throw ourselves in debt...

Well I am happy that I graduated but now that I am done with school my parents are pushing me now on what i'm going to do with my life....I know what I want to do but the decision isn't easy....my parents think I'm just gonna sit around and do nothing....they really don't understand...

I applied for the community college and I was accepted but I cant start right away because I'm going to have problems getting over there....freaking distance problems...if that becomes and issue I might have to take my classes online for a start...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shunhades In reply to KathytheGoth [2014-06-20 04:15:05 +0000 UTC]

Well online class would be better than nothing. I personally didn't take any, but when i'm on the web my mind doesn't go to class. xD I would of marked myself for failure. LOL.

Yeah it is greatly unfair. Like my parents didn't help me with college when I still was classified as a dependant. And what suchs is you have to keep using their income status until the age of 24. I was so happy when I became 24 years old (5 years ago LOL). Because I could file as an independant and I was like "SEE I'M POOR! HELP ME! I WANT TO GO TO COLLEGE!" so then I actually qualified for aid.

Of course now that i'll be going to a university i'll need a co signer for the loans i'll incur. But it's better than not finishing my education. And not just borrow money from the government, you can borrow from banks too. Honestly the government doesn't give you much in terms of loans. Most of the time they won't cover the costs of all that you need in a university level. If you're lucky they'll pay for your classes, but not much else. I'll probably end up getting private loans, but I know I still qualify for some financial aid (in grant) form as well, so it'll help even if it's not much.

Don't get me wrong, it's kinda depressing to think that i'll have to get loans to finish my education, but in the same token if I get a job in my degree field, I could pay the loan off very easily. Especially if I budget my income. If I don't get a job in my field i'll still be able to pay off the loan, but it'll be difficult.

I know there are people who have loans as high as $170,000, but they got jobs in their career field, so it was worth it for them. So in the end it'll just boil down to if I succeed in getting a job after I get my bachelors degree. It's not a debt for life, but i'll feel like it. I'll personally need about $50,000 to get my bachelors. That includes rent, food, books, bills, etc.

Maybe you can talk to your parents about transportation to the community college. Like I said there's always the bus. Yes, the bus sucks, but it gets you to your destination. As for driving the more you do it, the more comfortable you'll get. Personally where I live driving is basically a necessity if you don't wanna end up riding the bus all the time. Our bus system isn't all that great, it can take hours just to get somewhere that's not all that far. So I made it a point to get my license as soon as I could.

I don't know how far your community college is, but I know the one closest to me is only about 10 miles away. If I really needed to, i'd walk. xD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KathytheGoth In reply to Shunhades [2014-06-21 22:57:50 +0000 UTC]

Thats also my worries....its hard to do things on the computer without having someone instruct you,I'm a horrible learner so it also scares me about college....I'm probably gonna fail so badly I'll burn my future.....

Lol well that should only be up to 18 years old honestly because I thought we were supposed to be independent at age 18...but I guess that only applies to residing in your parents home.

Yeah my mom is still paying back this one school she used to attend to certify herself for this one job she has now lol and she graduated from that school like over 10 years ago.

Well as I said before even the bus stops to the college are far from my house, everything is far from me for the college....its not fair either I mean they should have a bus for students who live far away and have no other way to get there...I don't wanna walk all by myself in the streets because I'm afraid some sicko creep is gonna snatch me and take me somewhere where nobody can find me (ever since the Cleveland kidnapping story I feel paranoid going out alone...along with other stories I heard about young girls who got kidnapped)

My community college is actually split into 3 different buildings and they are all in different areas, one of them is all the way in Henderson (the town connected to Vegas) and 2 others far distance from my house...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shunhades In reply to KathytheGoth [2014-06-30 00:05:43 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, I think that depends on the person. I know people who did best with online classes. But again, i'm not one of them. xD LOL. But i'm honest about it. I know there's a lot of information of instruction for the class you take online. The teacher doesn't just leave you there to try to figure out the course on your own. I'm not a great learner of certain subjects myself. But if you try hard you'll do fine. 8> I think you just need a break from school. Public schools tend to be more stressful in my opinion than college. Especially since you're choosing to be there, unlike regular school.

Not really. Many people aren't independent at the age of 18. In fact very few people are. I'm not sure where they got the age 24 to be honest. But I think it's based on the olden days before even i was born here after high school, people went to college, and went for their bachelors before becoming independent from their parents. Like 2 years of basic courses. 2 years for associates, 2 years for bachelors or something like that.

Yeah, but that's normal. I'll probably be 80 by the time I pay off my college loans if I don't get the job in my career field. xD LOL. Oh well, gotta spend money to make money as they say.

I don't think that'd be logical. Think about it. If you're the only one in your area who goes to the far college. They wouldn't be able to justify having a bus go and pick you up to take you to school and take you home. You could see if there's a shuttle service provided in your area though. My area has it for people who lack transportation, and you usually have to sign up for it. But it's based on their schedule for the most part. Still doesn't hurt to look into it. Maybe you should take some self defense courses.

Well yeah, but that's normal. Ours is 6 different campuses. Community colleges try to make it easier for people to get their education. Unlike universities that are larger.

KathytheGoth In reply to Shunhades [2014-07-01 08:18:38 +0000 UTC]

Yeah thats like my friend, she dropped public schooling because she just couldn't stand people and teachers who can't teach crap and she decided to take school online for the rest of her high school and she said she learns better online.
But I know its just because she's smart and dedicated,I struggled all my life with education and it was because of a couple disabilities that were not identified until I was 17....which sucked because I wish they would have found that out 10 years ago and not last year.

I guess...but it seems like back then people were expected to have their own cars by age 16,have jobs, and move out as soon as they turned 18 to go to college but nowadays thats almost impossible now with the horrible economy we live in.

I highly doubt there is a shuttle service because if there were then I would know, this college offers no transportation of any sort which makes me mad because they really need to do that.....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shunhades In reply to KathytheGoth [2014-07-01 17:25:35 +0000 UTC]

Colleges aren't the ones who provide the shuttle service. It's the city. So you'd have to find out from that. The only reason a college would offer a shuttle service would be that it'd be a super large campus. And there shuttle service doesn't leave the campus, it just drives the students from one side of school to the other. Our college has this because it'd take you over an hour to get to the other side of the campus if you walked.

Seemed like it yes. But believe it or not even with that expectation it rarely happened, so....it was just people putting their views on how it should be in reality.

I say good for your friend. Not many at that age can do it. I remember seeing on TV one girl decided to do the same thing, but she never did her homework or anything and just decided to party. Her reason wasn't like your friend's though. She just didn't want to go to school anymore. And was a spoiled brat. So her parents made an agreement with her, that instead of dropping out of high school, she could do her classes online instead. Cause they really wanted her to graduate high school. She agreed. But never did the work. And just partied. (This was on wife swap btw, if you wanna know what show), Then during wife, swap, the woman who was there got her to do the work. And pointed out she wasn't doing her part of the agreement. And to top it off, since her parents were catering to their daughters. They were pretty much just giving her and her sister money to go party and stuff. When part of the agreement was she'd get her allowance on doing the work. They should of been checking her work more tbh.

Well usually the person who picks, never shows up. >.> It's ridiculous. Same person for a couple of years set up the gathering. And she never showed up herself. Usually date and time is done by a vote. It's not picked by the person who sets it up.

LOL.
