i know i can't wait to get my ass there...damn,the amount of stuff and creative stuff that'll be flowing and just getting it out on paper seriously,we need to do an online comic..i'm thinking of asking the pros at sdcc if they have any advice and such.I wanna visit art museums...pictures of buildings and stuff...i seriously can't wait

I'm happy you are excited. You can stay motivated that way. I can help you build an online comic. A friend of mine does them, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind helping you out. I can help you write dialogue, and I have a mass of loyal watchers that would love to read it. ^^
Also, Comic Con! :3 You can find all sorts of amazing things there, in Frisco alone. ^o^

Thanks All i'm wanting to do is to build up a new portfolio so i can show it to publishers when i head down to SDCC next year I might not get any offers but its really good exposure and its good to ask the pros where i went wrong and how best to improve. If i stay here i'll be stuck in that rut again and might not get out at all..and when i'm there,i'm going to see how i feel about the US and staying for the long term (hint hint) you can ask your sis..hehe
but seriously,we need to get an online comic going,it'll be cool

That is good! If you want I'll send you an invite to some of the groups I help run, that way you can get in touch with more people that will help you. ^^
I already know. I'm excited for you to come here! Just so you are warned I am absolutely going to glomp you! I hope you'll like it enough to stay at least a little while. You can stay with us as long as you need! :3
Truth, let us collaborate! I'll be gone for a few days, so be patient if I do not reply right away.

well,i'm planning to be there for 2 - 2.5 weeks..and after that..i need to see how i like it there and whether i can find a job there. It'll be cool to be somewhere new creating art and doing what i love.In Singapore,it tends to be stagnant and not much in the way of inspiration and also as i said, being in the same country as the publishers AND comic conventions
I'll love to collaborate on a comic but first,i need to unlearn all that i have learned.Focusing on my weaknesses and doing what i need to.Then starting the comic pages as a try-out for myself.
Intimidating as hell...lol

I see. I hope you can find a job. At the moment it is slim pickens for just about everyone. Lets hope the situation gets better by the time you get over here.
I'm sure some new scenery will help your creative mind flow.
By collaboration, I mean, I can help you identify your weaknesses as an artist by challenging you to a different style, and similarly you will challenge me in the same way. What I mean by this, you try to draw one of my works and I'll draw one of yours. Each person tries to replicate the style to the best of their abilities. It is a VERY good exercise and you can not only identify your own weaknesses, but their as well. Does that sound like something you are willing to do?

me too..i know when i tell my parents, they are going to bitch a storm especially my dad and he'll probably use the fact that the US has no jobs and that singapore is nice and stable.but yeah,i need some new scenery to help my creativity work again.
As for the collaboration,i'm down for it Let's do it and especially, let's see about starting our own webcomic

Yeah, my mother is the same way about me going away to Job Corps in Oregon. Its just something I've got to do. I refuse to sit here being useless. I want to help the world some how, even in a a subtle way, I want to do something profound... if that makes sense.
Cool, pick a picture from my gallery you'd like to do, and I'll pick one from yours. Little by little we'll draw and post what we have as WIPs so we can fix and identify problems where they arise. So, when you have your basic sketch done, post it. Okay?
This is the one I'm doing:

I love the dynamic pose and the sense of weight and muscle. I hope you don't mind I'll take a little artistic liberty with the hair. :3

LOL..my dad's the same way..he wants me to stay in the bistro till i retire coz its nice and stable..as is Singapore but its soul crushing to be here, living yet not truly living..know what i mean? And yeah, its the same thing i'll tell me dad when we have our conversation after i get back from the US.I refuse to sit here being useless.I know the economy in your country isn't that good,we've heard the horror stories enough in the papers but things might pick up.
I guess i know i might never do anything profound in my life but i'd rather have meaning and hopefully bring some happiness or meaning to someone else's life that i touch.
ok..i decided on which one i'll like to do from your drawings or rather your interview with Desmond of AC1.But i'm planningto update the look and feel for a more futuristic/comic book feel to it if you're ok about it.
The drawing you chose was one of my oldest..hence,its really ugly..LOL...go wild with it though I'll love to see what u come up with

Oh yes, I know exactly what you mean. Zombification of the soul.
I think things will improve in this country if people stop being so one-sided and compromise for the greater good. Bloody bureaucracy. :/
That's exactly what I mean. Even the smallest actions can have the greatest effects. To lead a happy, humble, and honest life, that is the true way to make a mark.
Eh... I didn't draw that one... ^^' I did however draw Desmond, here: [link]
You can draw him wearing, doing whatever. The important thing is to try and match my style as best you can. And I'll try and match yours. ^^
>o Your art isn't ugly! I like it! >P

Politics as usual.I just hope someone steps up and actually does something..everyone just cares about their wealth but forget people elsewhere don't even have 2 cents to rub together.and here i am hoping to get a job in the US ;(
True...we just try out best and hope that it effects someone positively
I'll try to match your style as best i can..lol

I know..i have an idea and i even dusted off my old drawing board to do my sketches.Wish i had an incline table to do my work but i guess i'll work with what i have
The thing i love about the AC games is not so much the game play but the design and concepts behind it.Its amazing and the idea of genetic memory holding some water to me

Indeed, the plot line to Assassin's Creed is quite something, though lately Ubisoft has really been screwing with it's fans and throwing us horrible curve balls like trying to say Altair and Ezio aren't related except by Desmond. >0
I work on my floor because I don't even have a table lol. ^^

Songsblade In reply to rakashael [2011-08-23 07:23:31 +0000 UTC]
Its the usual...though i want to see how Ubisoft plays it out..i doubt they'll stop AC anytime soon..its a cash cow to them.
lol..try to work off a table or get a board u get incline..drawings tend to be distorted in a way if you do it flat on the table or floor

After this last one I hope they straighten out. If history has taught us one thing, it is this: NEVER piss off the fans. They will eat your soul. :/
I don't have anything like that. I'm stuck with using my knees as an incline. ._.
