Yyyyeahhh, I only went to the intro thing so far, I've been busy looking for work. I had a final interview for Apple store today so that's pretty sweet, fingers crossed. In any case, I think I'll go to the game day thing this weekend.

I did Graphics too, I kind of screwed up my final year though, I had no idea what to do for my dissertation and ended up just rushing out this really boring essay about branding in three days just in time to hand it in. What are you doing for it?

And that's pretty cool, did you do it at Leeds?

My Dissertation's on type, language and layouts of Victorian printed ephemera, which I'm looking at specialising to just refer to circus/fairground related ephemera after visiting the National Fairground Archive at Sheffield Uni the other day to copy some journals. They had some amazing stuff.

Still got a vendetta against macs myself. Windows OS is so ingrained in me that some of the 'useful' design features on a mac just aren't user friendly for me Hope the job hunting goes well though

Question is, do you get staff discount (and is it better than student discount!)

I didn't get it but I would have had a cool discount! I like macs but they ruin PCs for you. You can't go back because they suddenly look all messy and ugly. It's like... remember when you learnt about typography and you started recognising typefaces everywhere? You start shouting about how terrible it is that Avatar uses papyrus for it's subtitles and none of your friends understand why it's a big deal? Maybe that was just me...

Yeah I went to Leeds. That dissertation sounds awesome, sounds like you have loads of research sources you can delve into as well so that's good.

I did go to the gaming day, I turned up a little late but it was cool. I was the guy wearing the shirt with a teacup which had a handlebar moustache if that helps
I could be wrong but it's possible you were the girl with the awesome trousers, in which case I assure you I began to rock at Halo after that lousy first round!

You say 'learnt about typography' but I can't really remember a time before knowing things about it. And it seems like everything I know is nothing special, and it's things that everyone should know.. perhaps that's just me not paying attention though

So what are you doing now? Still interested in the Graphics Stuff?

There's a lot of things where it seems like they should be obvious to everyone, but they just don't seem to pick up on it >
I used to think I knew about typography, but looking back at the work I turned out in first year it's fairly clear I was doing something wrong. I could say that about everything I ever did though, it seems like I always have a sudden epiphany that I screwed up somewhere about a month too late.

I'm still interested in Graphics to the extent that it's possible without actually working in it, I mean I do work for friends here and there but they don't seem to understand that there's learning behind it, they just think I'm a guy who can draw or work photoshop so it can be frustrating. For example Leeds met RAG society have an awful awful logo but I can't convince them to change it to a nice clean version despite them only having had this one for like a month. It was done by some girl in the society who brought in a terrible sketch and scanned it into microsoft word, and it looks like jack skellington, it's terrifying.
