but, my german is not good at all, even though i lived 200 metres from the german border
your english is better than my german

have been @ dortmund airport last year, and when i used 1 dutch word while trying to explain, they always said 'ich verstehe dich nicht' argh

no, "sauerkraut" is a name for a cabbage which tastes very acerbic and there is no english translation... :( (Sad)
I think, that a lot of people who live near the netherlands don´t speak or understand Dutch. The most Dutch who speak German are older than thirty years (I think) and we (Germans) can not demand that all Dutch are speaking German... No, I disagree!

of course, Berlin is an international city and that shouldn´t be a problem to communicate in English - normaly every German learns English since the primary school ;) (Wink) and it is a required subject if you want to achieve the general qualification for university entrance... :) (Smile)
