Oh you are kind! That's so interesting, you should absolutely give it a try! I would recommend starting gently, i started with learning the basis of photoshop/corel painter, just so I could navigate in it. After that I started painting with the mouse, I can't recommend that....if you want to paint for real, you need a wacom tablet for sure. It can almost feel like painting traditionally!

Yea, I have an Intuos that I use for my graphic designs and photo editing and I love it! Just trying to figure out the basics of painting. Where to start, what aspects I should try to master first before moving on to another area. Figures scare the hell out of me....well people drawing period.

Hmmm, im not sure how much experience you have with traditional painting but I think it's very important to get a sense of shape and form. Study the world, get to know the human body, the curves, the bends, the flaws. Something that makes paintings unrealistic to me is when they lack a flow, a sense of movements and honesty. Things dont have to be perfect but you must believe what you paint. Study light, how objects interact together, color tones, tonal contrast. Learn about shadows and highlights, thats extremely important if you want to paint realistically. Learn about light sources and facial expressions, how the face is built up. Take it little by little, it's ok if the first sketches look like shit, thats how you learn. Sketch, and practice, over and over. Don't let it scare you. Let it humble you, it's important to appreciate the beauty you paint, respect it or you wont be able to realistically portray it.Β
