A cheerful country bumpkin, Spain was once a super powerful nation and traveler until he was tormented by England and Netherlands, beaten by a younger America, and thrown into war and poverty. Despite all her hardships, she remained optimistic and passionate. The source of her constant happiness is the sunshine that casts over her land.
Although she means well, she happens to come off as insensitive and clueless at times because of her inability to "read the atmosphere" (it is said that she does not even try to assess the situation). Spain speaks in the Osaka-ben variant of the Kansai dialect in the Japanese version of the manga and anime.
She is also very fond of children, especially the Italy brothers. It is shown that his ultimate dream is for both of them to live with him.
Spain is often shown spending time with either Romano, France, Prussia, Belgium and Netherlands.
It has also been stated that she tends to get sentimental if she drinks, but when she gets completely drunk she "becomes so scary she can even change Sweden's facial expression".

The Spanish coast was one of the only places that she might actually swim in. Charlotte was rather picky when it came to beaches. Bermuda had the best beaches so it was hard to get seal of approval that from this tan woman, yup. While the beaches were pale to her the clarity of water was Amazing and the temperature was great to boot. Perhaps she got some of her looks from Spain as well as her name. The brunette most certainly didn't get them from England, that was for sure. With her beach bag in hand and hat onto of loose curls she made her way over to the beach.

The spaniard being at the beach already eating her homemade tomato soup. She realized that she was kind of thirsty. She stood up to get her a beverage then as her way towards the stand where the sell meals and beverages she ran into the other "Ay! Perdoname!"

The colision caused the bermudian to stumble, only a little but otherwise still standing with her beach belongings. "Esta bien." Charlotte chuckled without thought. It wasn't till she actually looked the woman she bumped into did she switch to her first language. "Ah- Spain!" A bright grin crossed her face. It had been ages since she saw the woman. What was it? A few hundred years now? Oh well she was the first person she met when she was a young girl and looked up to her infact. With that fact she almost had a slight panic attack. "Oh my godness- I am so sorry Spain! I should have watched where I was going!"

Seychelles was swimming along one of the many Spanish beaches trying to find Spain, but have no luck. So she swam closer to shore, enough that her lower half stayed underwater and her head was above the surface.
