# About me
"Being aware of beauty all around me, even in unusual places, I strive to create beauty myself. Experimenting with materials and techniques, indulging my fascination with details, textures and natural shapes, I let my mind roam to create stories and connections. I hope to reflect my care for the natural world in my work, my interest in sustainability and how everything is connected.Since 2014 I have been working with plastic bags. Without the ubiquitous plastic, our civilization could hardly have become what it is today, but at the same time it is a burden on the environment with far-reaching consequences, some of which are still hard to estimate. Especially plastic bags are a fairly obvious symbol for mindless consumerism and a throw-away society. This makes them particularly interesting for me to work with, to create from them textures and structures the origin of which is surprising to most people. In our culture, plastics are commonplace, invaluable yet insignificant. For me they bear the possibility of beauty."

Hellooo
Thanks for your advice regarding the mask.
Just wanted to show you that it's going well -->Β i57.tinypic.com/2py4w93.jpg
Bought some transparents bra strap and speckle powder. Mainly waiting to get a wig so I can try and make the part that goes over and behind the head. Figuring out if i want to use white wig hair of fabric is slowing the process a good deal tho. Once It's all finished it'll hopefully be similar to your mask

looks like it's coming along well!
I also used a transparent bra strap for my mask, worked really well. I had just white fabric wrapped around more wire for the "mane", fixing some of it to the strap in the back so it sits better on the head later on

okey so I had a big break from working on the mask and have the time to start again. So I hope it's okey I ask another question. I understand you used a wire as the base and then wrapped white fabric around it. But how? Did you cut the fabric into long pieces like bandage rolls and spun them around the wire or did you have 1 big piece you just wrapped around the wire? This is actually what kept me from continuing cause I had such a hard time figuring it out and finally decided just to go ahead and ask you again

I had a long strip of fabric, maybe like 5-10cm wide which I folded around the wire. So yeah, more like bandage rollsΒ

Hiya! I'm not part of DA (had to make an account just to do this..)I'm just some random person surfing the net ^.^ and I happily stumbled onto your work (kudos by the way on... well everything on here!=} ). I love your Gaara costume, and I was wondering if you made those brass decorative pieces on the cuffs and collar or if you got them somewhere (my guess is the former but just to be safe...) You see, I want to make a costume too and to have small details like those would be fantastically awesome!!! (not a fan of the awkward-looking already-made cosplay costumes...)
Please help?
oh yeah... sorry about the super long message... ^_^' If you want you can email me instead....?

no problem, i'm a fan of comments, like them more than fav's so you can write them as long as you want
first: thank you!! :bows:
second, yes, I made the brass pieces myself. i like imagining characters for myself, as real people. how they would use their clothes, how they would, as leader of a country, be decorated... you know what i mean, you wrote it yourself
they're metal, but then things like that shouldn't be too hard to make from those kind of model clays that dry or can be burned to be solid.
yeah... no prefab costumes, please.. that's not really cosplay in my opinion, that's like children going to a birthday party, right ?! ^^'
hope i could help!

Yay! That's great because I tend to babble... a lot >.<...
Heh yeah, I thought so... And really, that's the best way to go: getting into your character's head, thinking of them as an actual person, imagining what they would wear daily... all that jazz.
Hey, that is a fantastic idea! O.O I think I actually have some clay lying around somewhere... Thanks! ^.^
Oh yeah totally! They annoy me to no end. They're why I'd rather make my own costume... it's more authentic (and comfortable) that way

Do you think I could comission you to make me a Gaara gourd? <<

ThundersSilence In reply to Kylie-K [2011-04-20 00:39:16 +0000 UTC]
I'm sorry, but right now I am in Japan and will be so until february 2012, so unfortunately i'm not able to do anything like that here. also, even if I was at home, there's so much work in the gourd, that I would need to ask a BIG amount of money for doing it so I don't think it would work ^^'
sorry
